I still have my PL 100 got back in the early 80s...it needs the dust cover and new jumpers/ground installed..been using my PL 518...got to get it repaired some day
The PL-100 is not really a keeper. If I were you I would seek out one of these: ruclips.net/video/Sg8YRPDSTdc/видео.html When tweeked up your audio buddies will be amazed at how eye popping these look. Not pricey either.... The PL-518 is a different story. What are you waiting for? Fix it! You won't regret...
I hear you partner - nothing can replace sentimental value. Sorry for your loss! I bought a similar piece of gear recently that my father had for the same reason... Here it is: ruclips.net/video/JNqHZgtrNBA/видео.html
Sold them both a couple of days ago. They are really nice units but I soon realized they were not going to bring my Dad back. That coupled with the fact that they were not the actual units my Dad had so there are several degrees of separation in my mind's eye. Would probably feel differently if they were his specific ones. I do see where you are coming from though. Where are you located (I am in Victoria, BC Canada). I gave the PL 100 to my daughter's boyfriend as a gift shortly after this video was taken and have been thinking that I would like to give him an upgrade at some point. I could possibly rob it of the bits you will need for yours at that point...
@@navydiving thanks for your comment. Due to the Pioneer being a bit older it’s hard to find a relevant info. The PL-100 I can get from a friend relatively cheap, around $80, while AT LP120 is around $200. I like the idea of the removable headshell both of them have since it’s easy to switch cartridges if I buy 1-2 more. That’s why I don’t consider Project or Rega in the price range - $100-$500.
I picked this record player because its silver. I dont want fake wood vinyl record player next to my nice silver pioneer set up. By the way do you know how much your pioneer stuff is these days
I picked this record player because it is solid walnut (this was just an old demo table I gave to my daughter's old boyfriend years ago so watch this: ruclips.net/video/IaY5BEBLISk/видео.html Yes I do know what it is worth since I rebuilt most of it myself 👍😁
Picking one of these up for myself at the weekend :)

yes the PL 100 is sentimental as my mother got it for me as a gift and now that she is gone...I will get it up and going again for sure

the Luxman is a fine piece of audio gear for sure

Your set up is amazing, you rock. Fuck yeah. I'd give him that and put a Pioneer 51A right there. But I know that's me. Heh.
Old old old setup. Here is what it looks like now: ruclips.net/video/3uok620i3tM/видео.html
Hi, would you think it will be better than Audio Technica LP-120. I have two on sale locally and was wondering if you had some experience with both
I think the Pioneer is better than the AT LP-120 by a mile. Have owned both.
