DiResta [Pt. 2] Camper Trailer Interior

  • In this project I execute and fabricate the interior of the camper trailer built in part one. The interior for this camper trailer was designed on paper by the client and given to us to interpret. Taylor Forrest worked hand-in-hand with the client choosing materials the best represented what was shown in the drawing. And I also made some changes along the way as far as colors and textures. The walls of this camper trailer are covered with a Formica type laminate. The countertops are Corian. And the under cabinets are plywood in MDF in conservation of excessive weight. Patrick Renolds did all the electrical system based on the conversations with the client and what their needs would be, and the plumbing system is designed by Taylor Forrest, a simple gray water system. Much of the research for this camper trailer project build was found on RUclips so thanks for that!! and thank you for watching!

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

This was an interesting build. A Tip someone gave me when using grab adhesive is to make donuts... as you push it onto the surface it creates suction which keeps the panel attached to the wall.

@@biguprochester - I've done some Formica-work under the watchful eye of a Master cabinet guy. He always was able to show me how to do the impossible. DiResta chose a painted topcoat over Formica because it could be readily renewed. Formica, DONE RIGHT, will outlast paint by decades upon decades.

Your comment on "marinating" on complex tasks is bang on! I've had that happen numerous times. I experienced that on a double-winder stair-case build . I woke up at 3:00 am and had the solution.

Matthias, you'd know this: how much energy is lost using an inverter to bring the battery voltage up to 120v, just to bring it back down to 12v? Apart from possibly the sink pump, everything else is 12v. And I suspect you could find a 12v sink pump. So would it not be better to just run everything off 12v? Even just a few car batteries with a car charger.

Hi Jimmy, I think your client will be very happy with this trailer! Pretty cool that you and Taylor could collaborate on such a big job!
For historical context, the "windows must have rounded corners" thing goes back to the de Havilland Comet, the first commercial passenger jet. Three failed in its early days. Although there were other major problems, stress cracks in the corners of the square windows was what stuck in peoples minds. There are earlier examples (round potholes on ships, etc).

You should try using Vulkem sealant. It holds up way better than silicone. The only drawback is they dont make clear. They do make white, gray and tan. It doesn't collect dirt like silicone.

That looks really good but there is one more thing I would recommend adding: Right inside the door, to the left in that corner between the door/wall and the windows you should mount some organizer baskets. The kind that have access from the top and gravity keeps the stuff inside. In at least one of those baskets would be a Run Book - the instructions for where various bits and bobs are mounted and what kind (like "this trailer has these batteries and this inverter") and how to setup the trailer for service and what to do to secure it for travel (things like that switch for the water pump at the end or where/how to hook up solar, city power or water, etc). I say this as an IT guy that has had to deal with LOTS of sales and marketing guys over the years, you need detailed instructions with numbered steps if you don't want them to totally frak it up.
