DiResta [Pt. 2] Camper Trailer Interior
HTML-код

- In this project I execute and fabricate the interior of the camper trailer built in part one. The interior for this camper trailer was designed on paper by the client and given to us to interpret. Taylor Forrest worked hand-in-hand with the client choosing materials the best represented what was shown in the drawing. And I also made some changes along the way as far as colors and textures. The walls of this camper trailer are covered with a Formica type laminate. The countertops are Corian. And the under cabinets are plywood in MDF in conservation of excessive weight. Patrick Renolds did all the electrical system based on the conversations with the client and what their needs would be, and the plumbing system is designed by Taylor Forrest, a simple gray water system. Much of the research for this camper trailer project build was found on RUclips so thanks for that!! and thank you for watching!

For those of you who were asking… My Giant DiResta Razor Blades are Now Available Here: imakeny.com/products/diresta-razor-blade
Seriously..:: what’s the weight ?
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
This was an interesting build. A Tip someone gave me when using grab adhesive is to make donuts... as you push it onto the surface it creates suction which keeps the panel attached to the wall.
Well that's definitely something worth trying
Do you mean to say "construction" adhesive rsther than "contact" adhesive?
@@Ricopolico Ye, well spotted. In the UK we call it grab adhesive.
@@Ricopolico when he first started laminating I was saying why not contact cement? Then he explained it and I don’t blame him. That shit’ll get ya
@@biguprochester - I've done some Formica-work under the watchful eye of a Master cabinet guy. He always was able to show me how to do the impossible. DiResta chose a painted topcoat over Formica because it could be readily renewed. Formica, DONE RIGHT, will outlast paint by decades upon decades.
Your comment on "marinating" on complex tasks is bang on! I've had that happen numerous times. I experienced that on a double-winder stair-case build . I woke up at 3:00 am and had the solution.
Did I just watched 45 minutes of DiResta making a trailer??? Now I want the full movie!!!
Thank you Jimmy, well done!
I love Jimmy’s transparency in the process with trials and tribulations. A man that can maintain an independent sense of self and operate within the spectrum of public trust is worth his weight in gold.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks for documenting. The voice overs are my favorite because you get to speak having been through the whole process. Laughed at the comment about giving back the money and keeping the trailer. Definitely have reached that point on some work in the past. :)
Aside from building the outer walls, this process was exactly like building a camper van. It was fun to watch because I know all the pain and decisions that have to be made. Built my van last year and learned so much along the way. 🤘🏼
I have built a lot of trailers over the years I live up by Elkhart Indiana if that says anything. U did a great job. I know people that couldn't even come close to what u have done building trailers. Thanks for sharing and again great job be proud of that unit.
one EcoFlow box could have done all the electrical stuff. Not cheap, but all in one box.
next build, amirite?
those things are pretty cool. Much cheaper and more modular to do what they did here but certainly simpler.
Matthias, you'd know this: how much energy is lost using an inverter to bring the battery voltage up to 120v, just to bring it back down to 12v? Apart from possibly the sink pump, everything else is 12v. And I suspect you could find a 12v sink pump. So would it not be better to just run everything off 12v? Even just a few car batteries with a car charger.
You can't charge lithium cells when it's freezing or you'll kill them. The batteries they used probably can.
Next one 😅😅
I love the messages if perseverance throughout this project. I often get hung up on details and "panic", and it stalls my process. Hearing you talk about this trailer on the podcast for the past 9 months has really helped me power through some things I just didn't want to do. Thanks for always being an inspiration Jimmy!
Being very candid here - That was a damn good build & you over came some obstacles with confidence. The client should be over joyed with this trailer. Thanks for allowing us to come on this build. Hope to see the delivery and clients reaction on receiving it.
I like the tape trick for router "finish passes"!
Приятно смотреть на работу мастера!
Жду новых видео с нетерпением!
Большой привет из Москвы Джимми!
best thing about it. made in U.S.A. jimmy diresta - the maker king.
Pardon my "French", but that is f*cking PHENOMENAL! Well done to all of you.
Jimmy, I absolutely love when you do these voice overs. Great content as always! Please keep them coming, thanks in advance.
You rock Diresta! That is the best designed roach coach I've ever seen.
Very Good Job. I'm a retired electrician, Very impressed with the electrical and I worked at Fleetwood and I understand too well about moving a house and the damage that can happen from simple moving, the road can be terrible on the interior. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.
Can watch those kind of projects (by you) forever , thank ;)
The fit and finish is unmatched.
Another brilliant Diresta-Built product.
I love watching you go to school. Can't wait to see the next one! 👊
U and DIY Wife are my favorite builders....
thanks god for RUclips,,,i cant believe i ve just watched 45 min of pure skill building. filming and insane editing for free. well well done. cheers from Egypt.
Oh that blum hinge mounting guide - now that's a real epiphany moment right there - genius in it's simplicity.
Always enjoy the voice overs. It is nice to not only see your process but to hear about your process. Thank you.

you my man are as sharp as a tack. i love your attention to detail. i enjoy watching your builds so don't go into retirement any time soon.
Jimmy: excited to get his space back. old time fans remembering the NYC shop-hahahahaha.
Your’s are the only YT vids I watch at normal speed since you do a great job of speeding things up in your editing. Most other vids, I watch at 2X!!
Term paper = A+. Cheers for sharing👏🏼👍🏽
"Don't demand an answer, your mind is working on it even though you are not thinking about it." Statements like this form Jimmy are true and one of the reasons I watch his channel. The man knows!
👊🏼respect. Thank you 🙏🏼
Beautiful job. I love the look on your face when something comes together and you realize you are as good as you are crazy.
😇😂😂
Stuck thru' to the end, Jim, I haven't a clue how long the video was, just mesmerising. A massive Well Done to all your crew, Taylor and your good self, what a project - many camper/caravanners would be jealous of the fit 'n' finish of this behemoth. Fantastic
I've said it before but it's worth repeating; I could watch Jimmy do taxes for hours because his work is so mesmerizing!
With every project you do...I think...I need to hire that guy! Nice project from zero to complete!
Your narrated videos are very soothing.
Some classic Irish tunes in the shop when Patrick was talking, good taste.
Wow nice job. You are the REAL deal. Craftsman at their best.
Thank you 🙏🏼
what you showed to us is the success and excitement . I can feel the nervousness when you accept this project at first . well done jimmy!!!
What a big project! Congratulations on the finish, looks just awesome.
YOU FINISHED IT - great job!!!
My congratulations !!! JOB perfect !!! Thanks for this sharing, ciao Nic from IT🇮🇹
Thank you for narrating this. I learned a bunch! And that 1/8" door skin laminate panel technique is golden.
Man, I could live in that full time.
Sei sempre il numero uno dei makers......
Love these longer videos with multiple techniques on show. Cheers Jimmy and thanks for sharing. Happy New Year :)
What a lovely end result. Great work!!!
So much risk, so much reward at the end. Well done Sir.
Hi Jimmy, I think your client will be very happy with this trailer! Pretty cool that you and Taylor could collaborate on such a big job!
For historical context, the "windows must have rounded corners" thing goes back to the de Havilland Comet, the first commercial passenger jet. Three failed in its early days. Although there were other major problems, stress cracks in the corners of the square windows was what stuck in peoples minds. There are earlier examples (round potholes on ships, etc).
Jimmy,
You should try using Vulkem sealant. It holds up way better than silicone. The only drawback is they dont make clear. They do make white, gray and tan. It doesn't collect dirt like silicone.
Tripolomer. Clear and colors. Tough stuff.
KNOWLEDGE IS EVERYTHING JIMMY THATS WHY THEY CAME TOO YOU THE SOLVER VERY WELL DONE .
Wow, great job Jimmy! With enough talent, skill and 💰 nothing is impossible!
Diresta word of the day
Ultimately
Nice job. Can’t wait to see the Diresta camping version.
Beautiful build. Your cuts on the laminate was special. All work was nice.
Loved the Dubliners in the background.
What an absolute amazing fab/build. You are definitely a master at all you do. Even if you go to school on your first time. That’s life!!! Thanks so much for sharing all you do jimmy!!!!!!!!!!🤜🏻⚡️🤛🏻
Outstanding ! it's a DIRESTA !
Brilliant voiceover and video, plus planning, tips and professional execution Jimmy
Fantastic build. Great to hear the constant problem solving and design considerations. I learned!
Great job on your "term paper" I'm sure the client will give you an A+!
This was fantastic! Thank you for turning on the closed captions!
I felt exhausted just by watching this video!
Thanks for the video, quite impressive! It's good for amateur DIY'ers like me to learn from pros...
My needs would have included insulation, bedding and furniture. But seeing the whole trailer, even doors made from scratch, is an eye-opener. Even if we don't have the tools you have...
Thank you!
Outstanding ingenuity and craftsmanship. Can't imagine how anyone could be critical of your work. 99% of everyone watching could find a starting point of what you created.
I cut loads of corian worktops all the time, I like the Dewalt plunge saw to get those cut outs started then come back in with the jig saw for the corners. Gives you really nice straight lines
Awesome build. Well worth watching till the end.
Beautiful work. Very much enjoyed this series. Been camping for 40 years. Very helpful to have a lighted-when-on water pump switch by the faucet.
Офигенно! Не даром говорят - талантливый человек талантлив во всем!
Well done, Jimmy. Well done.
Unbelievable! Peeeeerfect Work!
Bravo! Such a fabulous achievement, so wonderful and uplifting to see how you overcame so many issues and powered through to the end to be like a boy in a candy store with a smile from ear to ear.. Thank you for sharing!
Very great work Jimmy!! It was very interesting and very coolly done!! I always watch with great interest and always wait for new videos!! Bravo!! From Russia with love!! A very good tool you have, in skillful hands works wonders!! Bravo again!!
Perfect Mr. Diresta!
👍👏💪
Definitivamente un super maestro Jimmy, me encanta verlo trabajar y al final disfrutar el resultado.
Like y saludos desde Veracruz, México.
This is helpful for my project. Thanks for making it as long as it needed to be.
Love the finished product!
That looks really good but there is one more thing I would recommend adding: Right inside the door, to the left in that corner between the door/wall and the windows you should mount some organizer baskets. The kind that have access from the top and gravity keeps the stuff inside. In at least one of those baskets would be a Run Book - the instructions for where various bits and bobs are mounted and what kind (like "this trailer has these batteries and this inverter") and how to setup the trailer for service and what to do to secure it for travel (things like that switch for the water pump at the end or where/how to hook up solar, city power or water, etc). I say this as an IT guy that has had to deal with LOTS of sales and marketing guys over the years, you need detailed instructions with numbered steps if you don't want them to totally frak it up.
Damn, this project just goes to show you are the embodiment of a maker. At this point I'm pretty convinced there isn't anything you can't make! Killer job.
Stuck to the end and glad I did. As usual you didn't disappoint
As always Jimmy, I am in total awe of your professionalism, precision, and dedication to craft! Many thx for parts one and two of this series!
wow, Jimmy. Normally when watching your videos I can tell you've 'been there, done that'. Watching you learn and hearing you talk about that process was next level. Really enjoyed this video.
Awesome job my friend, so happy for your accomplishment, what a load off!
I love your energy and project ..
WONDERFUL!!!!!!!
I’m agree! The finish details on this works are the most important to define the quality, from the customer point of view. GOOD WORK! 👍🏼
1/8/22; Jimmy, incredible tedious work completing the 2-part video of that beverage trailer. Wow! Ton of planning, research to find & aquire then install components. Can't imagine how many hours this project consumed. Hope you got a bundle of well earned money for this custom designed, uniquely fitted-in utilities, lighting, cabinetry, wall/ceiling/floor materials...re-enforced steel framing...just incredible amount of time, effort & money this kind of project required. Who else but you could make this happen? That's why client chose you! Thx for showing all of us! Always enjoy yur videos & commentary. 👍👍👍🛠🧑🔧🍷
Looks great. Thank you for sharing your process!
You don't have to ask us to be gentle. That was another excellent build.
Beautiful work, Jimmy.
Wow! That's a really nice trailer. They picked the right team of people to do it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic! Really enjoyed this project!
Amazing project 😍😍😍. You the Best bro 👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪
Jimmy, greatly enjoyed your 2 videos on this build, your techniques and vast array of experience made this a joy to watch. I’ve always wanted to do a school bus camping build but realize there is so much that goes into the whole project. Much appreciated from a fellow Carpenter and tradesman. A custom build like this must have been costly.
Love the all the time and details.
as amazing as you are jimmy, I'm glad to see that you run into the same issues i have. not a pro at anything, just having a good time building things. hopefully making a living of it in the future.
