  • Do you worry that adding oil while cooking can make food unhealthy? Are you confused about which oil is healthy and which one to ditch? Virgin, refined, plant-oil- so many options, so much confusion. Which is the best oil for cooking?
    Are you confused about which cooking oil is the best for your health? Is olive oil the best option? WTF are saturated fats? Are refined oils actually good or should you swap to oil free cooking? So many options, so much confusion.

    Why cook with oil to begin with? First create a sauce - just put ingredients in pan, add little water and simmer till ingredients (plus add spices) are soft, and if you wish, even slightly browned. Add more water, simmer without lid till ingredients (garlic, ginger, onions etc.) have consistency and colour exactly the way you desire. Then add more water (perhaps more spices and other softer ingredients - mushrooms, capsicum cubes etc.) bring to boil, add thickener (xantham gum or similar) till sauce has right consistency. Only when sauce is finished and off the heat add some extra virgin olive oil or other to your sauce. This, at least in my opinion, is a much healthier way of cooking.

      You have to have a TINY amount for some vitamins. When I went on the no oil fad diet years ago my hair and skin noticably suffered.

      Because dietary fat is important too. As long as good days are taken in any form. Then it’s ok. Going completely FAT FREE isn’t good as fat has its own functions in the body

    "what we all should have been taught in school" - 💯👏 I agree!!! 🤔And it makes me wonder why we're forced to go to school for 12 years, and we graduate not knowing basic things about food.. don't know how to cook.. or clean.. or even do laundry 😩😞 America school system is incredibly flawed and lacking...

    I love his analogies so much! It makes things really easy to understand.
    I also liked the analogy about painkillers... Masking the problem your body is having and trying to tell you by taking medicine to get rid of the pain.

    But you didn't suggested a single oil which is good and we can buy. So what's the point of giving a eye-catchy name when you actually not telling which cooking oil is good for health ?

    Use COCONUT OIL / GINGELLY OIL / GROUND NUT OIL / OLIVE OIL ....safest

    The best cooking oil is non-hydrogenated virgin cold pressed coconut oil because you can even drink it. The other oils are A2 ghee, Gir2 cow ghee, Organic mustard oil, ghee from goat milk, avocado oil and pork lard. Seed and nut oils sold in supermarkets are mainly hydrogenated and bad for health. Always choose non-hydrogenated ones.

      Organic or non organic mustard oil is first heated to it's smoke point to get all the flavor of mustard out of it. It's almost burnt, which creates trans fats ot toxic compounds in it so isn't it bad?

      Yes, yes, yes. The soy bean lobby lobbied in the 70s to get rid of coconut oil. No one bothered to check to see how healthy the Pacific islanders were compared to us.
