- Deep Purple is a British rock band that formed in Hertford, England, in 1968. They are considered one of the pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, although their music incorporates elements of progressive rock and blues rock. The band's classic lineup, often referred to as "Mark II," includes vocalist Ian Gillan, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Jon Lord, and drummer Ian Paice.
Deep Purple has released numerous successful albums and songs over the years. Their most famous album is "Machine Head" (1972), which contains the iconic track "Smoke on the Water." The band's sound is known for its virtuosic musicianship and the use of the Hammond organ, which became a signature part of their music.
The song "Lazy" is one of the tracks from Deep Purple's "Machine Head" album. It features an extended instrumental intro, showcasing the talents of the band's members, particularly Jon Lord on keyboards and Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. The song's style combines elements of hard rock, blues, and jazz, and it's known for its energetic and engaging performance. Lyrically, "Lazy" is about a character who is laid-back and carefree, reflecting a relaxed attitude towards life.

Blackmore/Lord & Paice will always be the essence of Deep Purple.
I love this performance, they can take as long as they like. Everything from this show is worth watching. Great versions of Strange Kind of Woman, Black Night, and I prefer the Space Truckin' here to the one on Made in Japan. Jon Lord had a ring modulator as part of his set up, but I can't tell you exactly how he used it. I think Ritchie Blackmore's tone in this era is my favourite guitar tone.
The Best , Excellent Performance From Machine Head , Blues and Jazz our Jazz and Blues . Incredible Ritchie Blackmore and Band !
Another classic from Deep Purple 👍 good choice guys
Great performance of a great Purple song.🔥🤘
They worked with what they had and made it sound phenomenal
My favorite song on the album. Nice reaction.
Man, Jon Lord was great.
Ian Paice, too
From the days when bands were truly skilled and could improvise like this on stage. Too bad I was only eight years at the time or I could have visited this concert. Did however love to listen to my brother’s Machine Head in the early seventies:)
Jon Lord had a ring modulator fed through the Hammond c3 for the weird effects at the start....
Saw them 2 times both in 1985. Texas jam Dallas cotton bowl. The perfect strangers tour
Great stuff. 'Lazy' was always one of my favourite Deep Purple songs, especially live versions.🤘
Lazy is my equal favourite song (along with 'Part of the Load' by Family) of all time - especially the version off Made in Japan
Organ + The Beast - Jon had the Hammond wired directly into a Marshall stack as well as the Lesleys so he could switch between the two. He developed the idea to "compete" with Ritchie's volume
Best of the best R e R....
Awesome again guys..go back to 1993 for the often forgotten battle rages on album.. the title track from come Hell or highwater DVD
nice channel
Another song i would like to suggest is "fresh air" live by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Thank you
I wouldn't say any of this is "indulgent". Deep Purple created music on the spot and let things happen. And since they were so good at what they were doing, who can complain?
