I think you have a misconception
We have to decolourise acidfast bacteria cell not the background
If the bacteria decolourise then it's not a acid fast bacteria but while the bacteria which retains the stain a acid fast bacteria appear red or pinkish in color

It does not decolorise in acid fast organism but it decolorise the carbol fuschin from non acid fast organism that what the difference is
