    My first microbiology course was well over 50 years ago. I've been a critical care nurse since then. This has been not just a wonderful refresher course, but you've explained this very clearly with great cartoons to show us what's going on.

      One question has covid-19 been associated with the positive gamma the very thick membrane that's the reason why antibiotics are so resistant to this infection does the positive gamma have any thing yes it does

      Excuse me if I don't have the exact appropriate scientific microbial monochromial antimonochromial name for how we f***** up and no that covid-19 disease did not kill anybody it was the f****** super bug bacterial infection that we have no antibiotic to cure it it's resistant speak the truth

    As with the other viewers, this video explains so many things better than I've seen or heard yet. The animation really helps me understand how the reagents penetrate the capsule, cell wall and plasma membranes. Excellent.

      @@BeverlyBiology - Yes, before this vid, the best explanations I heard was simply that Gram(-) are bacteria that resist Gram staining
      _[and are harder to treat with Penicillin-based antibiotics]_

    Fantastic explanation! I don't have a background in biology, but knew just enough to totally make sense of your explanation. I first heard of the Gram stain indicator decades ago, and finally got curious enough to look it up. Maybe in another life, I'd become a microbiologist... I don't have enough time left on this one.

      I do a lot of research prior to creating these PowerPoint videos. Right now, my videos cover topics that I teach in my 9th/10th grade biology class. But as time passes, I will try and make other videos on others topics within science.

    Good video, but have some not so accurate statements. Gram negative outer membrane is not just made of phospholipid bilayer, it also have lipopolysaccharides. Not all bacteria have capsules, some just have a slime layer.
