After having both the OLED and LCD versions of the VITA, I'd say yes the OLED is absolutely worth $50 more. Not necessarily worth upgrading, but it's a no-brainer for anyone who was looking to get thier first non-lite switch.
One thing I'll mention is the proportions for the actual screen are different, the kick stand and etc. Which means they had a redo the molding for that specific shell (casing) that in itself can cost millions to retool the injection molding. Source: I used to work in a injection molding facility
That’s not an excuse at all. Even if there’s a fixed cost associated with the screen and redoing the moulding it will be spread over millions of units. Plus, the cost of all the other components should have already gone down in the last four and a half years. It’s totally ridiculous to justify this at 350 dollars. Just for your reference, Chinese handheld manufacturers like Anbernic update their handhelds every three or so months with new chipsets, new screens, new form factor, new buttons etc. and the price remains the same and drops after a few months when new models come out. When valves steam deck can sell for 399 you know for sure Nintendo’s oled is ridiculously overpriced. It should have sold for the same price at most.
If this is in NYC and that person was not involved with the video, someone dropping an item in a trashcan and running is definitely a cause for concern, and whether to call the police is certainly a consideration.

true, but this just proves how low the bar actually is when it comes to nintendo products. 64 gigabytes isn’t enough. most phones start with 64gb. a good kickstand shouldn’t make 50 bucks worth it. the first switch should have had a good kickstand. better audio is pretty much the only solid argument here.

I just got a switch last month and I’m couldn’t be happier. I play mostly on a tv and the portability is just the cherry on top so I don’t really want to pay more for an OLED switch.
I really don't understand why Nintendo wouldn't have rolled out the OLED upgrade on the lite vs the original switch. Seems like it would make more sense to upgrade the screen on the strictly portable device vs the one that can be hooked up to a TV. I'm still gonna buy it though 😂

That Magic Spoon crap is higher calories than Cookie Crisp and other regular cereals, and is full of more chemical sweeteners and crap. Compare the boxes before buying for proof. I would stick to regular cereal. Even Pop Tarts are lower calorie by volume.

I think OLED is bad, for a handheld, mostly due to BEING OUTSIDE, requiring HIGHER brightness settings and what's one thing you want to avoid with an OLED? using the highest brightness settings for a long time, it's not good for the life of the screen, add extra brightness settings from within the games themselves, and you've got a problem. OLED displays are fine with indoor use when lowering the brightness as the screen will last longer, and the battery will also last longer (especially with said brightness settings within games) I think the LCD screen Switch and Switch lite is the superior choice for those who go out and expect to be in high brightness environments. if you aren't using handheld mode in very bright environments like the outdoors, the OLED model will be just fine, just as long as you're using handheld mode, since there's no point wasting an extra $50 for an OLED screen you won't use.
My biggest gripe with the lack of spec bump is that there's a large amount of Switch games that don't even run at 720/30 let alone 720/60 in handheld mode. No matter how beautiful the screen, a sub-720p dynamic resolution is going to look mushy mushy.

What I'm saying is people demand on the switch having better Specs really doesn't understand nintendo or the switch, the whole idea is that is a portable that can be connected to your tv. Lets suppose they did the "pro" switch with 1080p handheld, 4k docked, oled screen and 2 teraflops... You think a portable console with that Specs would be "decent" at 350? This exact vídeo shows how expensive just a good screen is.. let alone the monstrous battery and cooling system it would have to have in order to last at least 3 hours. Please just Buy a steam deck or something and you'll get the experience you are hoping to get. Even they went for a 720p screen. well there was one more important issue that was not mentioned in the video - over the time your OLED display will start loosing colors. The reason being is that size of those cells with colors that will be than used for that specific pixel is not equal. Why? because some colors will die sooner than others. Apart of the burn effect which is more or less those dying colors that were overused on certain spots with constant usage, your screen will slowly resemble those sepia and what not filters. And yes you will still get your nice black - lack of color or white (lack of color again but full light behind). but colors will be slowly fading more whatever remaining colors you have left. And with that being said and with LED pixel being actually a bit larger than LCD, with the same setup as the previous display, you will get lower pixel densities (so actually that slightly bigger screen will have the same resolution). Not to mention that OLED screens do not like UV light as it will kill them rather faster (maybe not the best technology to be used on a bright sun for a long term).

@@vensakarakorwien5768 I didn’t really play it in the sun…I don’t even use my phone in direct sunlight…for the first 2 years I played it hardcore…as much as I could when I was not working…but it was my main console of the time…I chose it over my ps3…and even ps4 for a short while….every screen dies out eventually…I would not worry about it dying my psp limited edition big boss psp still…works I kno lcd…but what I’m saying is I love my handhelds….and screen quality was only bad during the gameboy game gear and early gba days…my 3 vitas all still look great…honestly though I preferred my vita slim over OLED model due to form factor and battery….the screen quality while better was not like woah omg better…I don’t really play my switch undocked but occasionally I do…and my son needs a system and he is getting my older switch…

Not exactly the same thing as a screenless switch. A screenless switch would be more in line with a Wii or something. An underpowered home console with motion control options and Nintendo properties. And we all know the Wii sold like crazy.

The price increase is justified (to an extent). I don't think the OLED is a $5 part they put in. OLED is the most expensive screen tech available in any form factor: TVs or phones, and now handheld game consoles.
The hardware of the oled switch is the exact same as the one before apart from the screen which means it has 4 year old tech, the price to produce said hardware would have significantly decreased yet instead of pricing accordingly they charge more for the oled? Its pure greed
@@StrangerOnTheWeb I just Googled it and the cost to produce an OLED of 7" is around $26. They also updated the kick stand, increased the memory size from 32gb to 64gb.

For it’s price it’s not so expensive, but for my country it sucks, the price for nintendo switch just gets higher and higher (romania) and right now the normal switch is $410 (1700 lei) and the switch oled is going to be $485 which is actually not fair at all. I do have a switch and I got it for $350 when it was lower but it really sucks man.

Pixel phones aren't saturated unless you go into settings and boost the colors. They are actually very muted/realistic colors to the point that people complained because they are used to the saturated colors on Samsung phones which is why Google eventually added a setting to it to boost the colors and continues to have the option on later Pixel phones. Personally I keep my pixels on the default/realistic colors.
I have always stayed away from prerelease hype over the years. But for whatever reason I felt justified to go with this one. I’m honestly excited even if it’s just slightly better. Cuz let’s be real we been playing outdated “junk” and buying it right up the charts for years. Slightly better on an already freaking amazing system is a win to me.
The price bump makes sense to me because of the new screen, lab adapter Included and 64 Gb internal memory, it’s just not what the switch needed at all
Because Nintendo can. They can give you minimum improvements and charge the maximum price and people will pay for it and treat it like it's the best thing yet. Nintendo can do this over and over again with these in-between systems and rake in the cash.

I think if you're upgrading from the original Switch that were produced before the battery upgrade in 2019 then the oled model is definitely worth the upgrade
My main OLED experience was the Vita. I haven't had a lot of products with OLED promoted proudly, but the moment I had the original Vita in my hands, I thought the screen just looked incredible. It just never got old to look at, everything just looked like it always had this out-of-the-box gloss and shine to it. I don't quite play the switch undocked enough to say I'd get the main feature of this out for the switch, so its still an underwhelming concept to me, but I kind of get the quiet idea that OLED is a potential selling point... or if its not yet, it should be.
I've worked around the burn-in issue on my OLED TV by always turning it off after one hour of use. As a result, I will never have burn-in issues nor will I ever know the ending of the movies I watch.

I was interested in buying a Switch for Xmas. The supply chain issues alone made me worry that grabbing an OLED wasn’t in the cards. People might have even skimmed me and made me buy it on EBay to grab and ensure I get it. Honestly, it will sit on a TV most of the time. Plus supply chain issues with chips and skimming. For piece of mind bought a regular switch rather than shell out $350-400 and have to worry about the headache of searching.
It's cute that consumers think that the cost of parts has anything at all to do with the asking price they pay. It's the price it is because that's what they think the market will support and the number one cardinal sin of corporate business is leaving money on the table.

I remember the release of one of the 3ds models, maybe the 3ds itself...anyways; Nintendo sold it for $50 OVER their original msrp solely based on the incredible reception the new handheld received at E3. Same thing with this new price hike, had the Switch not sold like hot cakes in 2020 and continued a downward trend we can bet our asses it would be reduced by $20 to $50 and the oled version would come out at the msrp of the original. Like anyone selling a hot product is going to decrease their profits lol.
Honestly after seeing this video I'm a little more sold on it. my LG G6 has an OLED screen and I've always like the way they look, but I didn't think it's worth the upgrade, for such a small screen size and quality bump. However, looking at the side by side comparison between the current switch and the 7" OLED you had in the video. I feel the screen size is gonna feel a lot more significant than I thought it would. Better kickstand, better screen, and the size bump, while I don't think is 100% worth the hassle of upgrading, I think I will take the plunge and sell off my old switch after transferring everything and accept the difference as the cost of upgrade.
The thing to consider with smaller OLED screens is they're actually a lot less likely to burn in the way a large OLED TV might. Reason being, when we say "burn in" when it comes to OLED, that's fairly literal, the screen gets too hot due to the electronics required to have the entire screen at a certain brightness. So for example, a 55" OLED TV might have a full screen max brightness of something quite small like 150nits, but a phone screen with a 5.5" OLED might be able to do full screen brightness of as much as 1100nits. Reducing burn in is about reducing heat, which is why recent Sony TVs get 20% brighter than LG OLED TVs since Sony builds a rather large heatsink into the panel. For a 7" screen, I think the burn in likelihood on the switch is extremely small, but of course I wouldn't say it's impossible. But it would take a very long time on constant static images. Also the way OLED screen manufacturing has been scaling up, particularly for small devices, I'm actually pretty suspicious of the idea that it's $50 more. I don't have any insider info or anything but it's much more likely that other parts in the new model contribute to the higher cost due to the parts shortages. They're tooling up for a new model which can be pretty costly.

My thing is I've gotten so used to the comfort and portability of using my Switch Lite when going out that I don't really want to take a bigger Switch around with me again. At home I just play on a TV and the OLED does nothing to improve that experience. So unless there's a really cool special edition OLED model with BotW 2 or something, I don't really see any point in me getting this one, even though I usually go for upgrades.

What do you think about upgrading a day 1 switch? That means getting double the battery, joycons without drift, connectivity issues and a problematic L button, a scratch-less screen plus the new features. It's still spending 350$ (or closer to 450$ in my country)… But does it sound like it might be worth it?
Thats my problem too because I also have a day 1 switch and I am still on the fence and if I don't get the OLED I might just get the white joycons because they look nice 🤣
I would just get a v2 Switch, personally. If you need ethernet support, you can just buy an ethernet adapter on Amazon. If you play mostly handheld, that might be more of a point toward the OLED, but I think the OLED cons outlined in this video are reason enough to avoid that. Plus, at least if you get v2, you're saving at least $50! >:D

Just a note about the saturation on the Pixel screen during Mario Odyssey. I might be wrong, but it looked like you were looking at a RUclips video, and in general, during compression RUclips darkens the video and increases the contrast, so that's also a factor. The best example would have been a raw video captured with a capture card, no compression whatsoever, and opened with a player like VLC.
I've had a Samsung Galaxy S8 for over 4 years now, and I haven't had any burn-in issues. Maybe it's the small size of the screen, but if it was that big of a problem I feel like my screen would have been burnt in really bad from playing so much fire emblem heroes. It looks pretty great, honestly. It does some trick where a text message glides in from the top of the screen while your screen's off, you can't even tell that it turned the screen on to do it, it just looks like magic to me. I wasn't aware Samsung was making the OLED screens until now, maybe they'll be pretty good then???

everyone is saying about how "its so bad, an improved version of a console costs more" but what you have to remember is 1. oled panels are going to be more expensive to purchase, and nintendo still needs to make some sort of profit 2. the dock comes with built in ethernet, which if you go for the current official option to get ethernet on the switch, its gonna cost £24.99 3. the screen is bigger, not by much, but its still a bit bigger, however this means they now need to make new moulds to make the screen fit in the case and finally 4. the improved stand, it will cost around £5-10 for an improved stand for your switch, and those you have to carry around with you, rather than being attached to the console. in conclusion, IMPROVING THINGS ON A CONSOLE WILL MAKE IT COST MORE MONEY
I have a Samsung S9 Edge which has a 1440p AMOLED screen. It is indeed very vibrant and pretty. I've had it for about 4 ish years now and I am experiencing burn-in within the past year, in the form of words and shapes from app UI's, and general lines of discolouration at the top and bottom of my screen. The burn in is only really noticeable when the screen is white, so it's not always a problem, but when it shows up, it's fairly annoying.
@@YounesLayachi why? The Switch revision is literally the same as the V1 Switch except a better battery life, and spending $299 on it if you already own a Switch is really not worth it. Sure the OLED model is $50 more but at least it has a bigger screen, better kickstand, enhanced audio, 64 GB, new dock, etc... Including the battery life of the V2 Switch. Just save up an extra $50 for an OLED model so you can get a slightly better gaming experience instead of buying a V2 Switch. If you're only looking for a better battery life and you literally don't give a fu* about all the features the OLED model has then that's your choice, but imo get the Switch OLED instead of getting the exact same Switch except the V2 that literally doesn't change anything from the normal Switch except its battery life.

The first one is that the switch V2 has better battery life BECAUSE of a more power efficient SoC that doesn't overheat nearly as much as the switch v1. The second piece of information is more apparent : commenter said they use the switch in docked mode, the oled model is a waste of money for people who don't play handheld.
@@YounesLayachi it's an extra £30 here. I said I could have the V1 as a mainly TV mode. Not that I play mainly TV. I play a mix of both (unless it's Skyrim then it has to be TV mode, the panel is terrible for caves unless the room is dark). The extra battery life is fine but that larger oled panel is what I am after.

One of my old phones was a LG v30, if I remember correctly, it should be the same screen as on the Pixel 3. LG definitely saturated the color on their OLED panels. I currently have a Samsung Note 20 ultra, it has a 7inch OLED. Great screen, pretty happy Nintendo went with Samsung to make the screen.
I’m not 100% certain if I missed something, but you’re not giving the pixel a chance by playing videos. Certain codecs can really compress image quality, and colour depth etc which will severely skew your results. The only real way of seeing would be using a phone that allows hdmi in like the Sony Xperia Pro, but thats a $2000+ dollar phone haha.
I bought a new 4k tv for my bedroom for gaming, everytime I look at the family OLED TV in the lounge room I feel like I'm missing out. Everything looks beautiful on it. If you played a PS4 on a OLED TV and a PS5 on normal LED, The PS4 on the OLED would look way better.
google pixel has more ppi than the led monitor in comparison for this video.. mainly because the google pixel has smaller size so it looks more crisp.. if you can stretch the google pixel screen equally to the monitor in comparison, probably it will has the same result since both of led has same resolution (just different in density)

Because thats basic supply and demand. Nintendo knows that people jump like crazy on the Switch, so its only logical for them to ask for more money for the OLED model.
So for $50 more you get a better looking screen, a BIGGER screen, double the internal storage at 64 gigs, and more sturdy kickstand, and slightly better audio. For 50 and those things, the pill isn’t that hard to swallow. If only OLED was added, then I would be like meh. That bigger screen filling out that thick ass bezel is huge for me. It bothered me that there was so much screen left to use and it was just a thick black bezel. I really love the OLED.
Why didn't you change your Pixel's display mode to Natural? Natural: See the most accurate colors. Boosted: See accurate colors with more vividness. This is on by default for Pixel 2. Adaptive (Pixel 3 & later): See the most vivid colors and keep color details. This is on by default.
Having owned a handheld PC I have to say Nay, sorry. It's a smaller shitier PC. It just made me want to play on my actual pc or a laptop. It's not like the price is that good either, it's at minimum a 530 USD for a decent unit. It doesn't even have exclusives to push me towards buying it.
To be clear LED panels DO turn off / dim the backlight but its not 1px to 1led so you still get light bleeding through. Several companies are making microLED which is brighter than OLED, doesn't burn in, and will be a lot closer to 1 LED per pixel. It's just being developed right now

I really don't understand why Nintendo wouldn't have rolled out the OLED upgrade on the lite vs the original switch. Seems like it would make more sense to upgrade the screen on the strictly portable device vs the one that can be hooked up to a TV. I'm still gonna buy it though 😂

The wii having burn in reduction should be no surprise. You had the waning years of CRTs coupled with the up and coming self emissive revolution that was Plasma.

I think OLED is bad, for a handheld, mostly due to BEING OUTSIDE, requiring HIGHER brightness settings and what's one thing you want to avoid with an OLED?
using the highest brightness settings for a long time, it's not good for the life of the screen, add extra brightness settings from within the games themselves, and you've got a problem. OLED displays are fine with indoor use when lowering the brightness as the screen will last longer, and the battery will also last longer (especially with said brightness settings within games)
I think the LCD screen Switch and Switch lite is the superior choice for those who go out and expect to be in high brightness environments. if you aren't using handheld mode in very bright environments like the outdoors, the OLED model will be just fine, just as long as you're using handheld mode, since there's no point wasting an extra $50 for an OLED screen you won't use.

My biggest gripe with the lack of spec bump is that there's a large amount of Switch games that don't even run at 720/30 let alone 720/60 in handheld mode. No matter how beautiful the screen, a sub-720p dynamic resolution is going to look mushy mushy.

Please just Buy a steam deck or something and you'll get the experience you are hoping to get. Even they went for a 720p screen. Battery life is a big deal for portable consoles and 1080p or a Big gpu just destroy batteries

well there was one more important issue that was not mentioned in the video - over the time your OLED display will start loosing colors. The reason being is that size of those cells with colors that will be than used for that specific pixel is not equal.
Why? because some colors will die sooner than others. Apart of the burn effect which is more or less those dying colors that were overused on certain spots with constant usage, your screen will slowly resemble those sepia and what not filters. And yes you will still get your nice black - lack of color or white (lack of color again but full light behind). but colors will be slowly fading more whatever remaining colors you have left.
And with that being said and with LED pixel being actually a bit larger than LCD, with the same setup as the previous display, you will get lower pixel densities (so actually that slightly bigger screen will have the same resolution).
Not to mention that OLED screens do not like UV light as it will kill them rather faster (maybe not the best technology to be used on a bright sun for a long term).

The price increase is justified (to an extent). I don't think the OLED is a $5 part they put in. OLED is the most expensive screen tech available in any form factor: TVs or phones, and now handheld game consoles.
The hardware of the oled switch is the exact same as the one before apart from the screen which means it has 4 year old tech, the price to produce said hardware would have significantly decreased yet instead of pricing accordingly they charge more for the oled? Its pure greed

For it’s price it’s not so expensive, but for my country it sucks, the price for nintendo switch just gets higher and higher (romania) and right now the normal switch is $410 (1700 lei) and the switch oled is going to be $485 which is actually not fair at all. I do have a switch and I got it for $350 when it was lower but it really sucks man.

Pixel phones aren't saturated unless you go into settings and boost the colors. They are actually very muted/realistic colors to the point that people complained because they are used to the saturated colors on Samsung phones which is why Google eventually added a setting to it to boost the colors and continues to have the option on later Pixel phones.
Personally I keep my pixels on the default/realistic colors.

I have always stayed away from prerelease hype over the years. But for whatever reason I felt justified to go with this one. I’m honestly excited even if it’s just slightly better. Cuz let’s be real we been playing outdated “junk” and buying it right up the charts for years. Slightly better on an already freaking amazing system is a win to me.
The price bump makes sense to me because of the new screen, lab adapter Included and 64 Gb internal memory, it’s just not what the switch needed at all
Because Nintendo can. They can give you minimum improvements and charge the maximum price and people will pay for it and treat it like it's the best thing yet. Nintendo can do this over and over again with these in-between systems and rake in the cash.

Last year I upgraded my tv to a high end OLED TV and boy oh boy was I blown away. One you experience perfect blacks contrast you just can't go back
I think if you're upgrading from the original Switch that were produced before the battery upgrade in 2019 then the oled model is definitely worth the upgrade
My main OLED experience was the Vita. I haven't had a lot of products with OLED promoted proudly, but the moment I had the original Vita in my hands, I thought the screen just looked incredible. It just never got old to look at, everything just looked like it always had this out-of-the-box gloss and shine to it. I don't quite play the switch undocked enough to say I'd get the main feature of this out for the switch, so its still an underwhelming concept to me, but I kind of get the quiet idea that OLED is a potential selling point... or if its not yet, it should be.

I've worked around the burn-in issue on my OLED TV by always turning it off after one hour of use. As a result, I will never have burn-in issues nor will I ever know the ending of the movies I watch.

I was interested in buying a Switch for Xmas. The supply chain issues alone made me worry that grabbing an OLED wasn’t in the cards. People might have even skimmed me and made me buy it on EBay to grab and ensure I get it. Honestly, it will sit on a TV most of the time. Plus supply chain issues with chips and skimming. For piece of mind bought a regular switch rather than shell out $350-400 and have to worry about the headache of searching.
It's cute that consumers think that the cost of parts has anything at all to do with the asking price they pay. It's the price it is because that's what they think the market will support and the number one cardinal sin of corporate business is leaving money on the table.
Exactly! I remember the release of one of the 3ds models, maybe the 3ds itself...anyways; Nintendo sold it for $50 OVER their original msrp solely based on the incredible reception the new handheld received at E3.

Honestly after seeing this video I'm a little more sold on it. my LG G6 has an OLED screen and I've always like the way they look, but I didn't think it's worth the upgrade, for such a small screen size and quality bump. However, looking at the side by side comparison between the current switch and the 7" OLED you had in the video. I feel the screen size is gonna feel a lot more significant than I thought it would. Better kickstand, better screen, and the size bump, while I don't think is 100% worth the hassle of upgrading, I think I will take the plunge and sell off my old switch after transferring everything and accept the difference as the cost of upgrade.
I think, at least in the short-term, that having two different displays helps them keep up with demand in the supply chain.

The thing to consider with smaller OLED screens is they're actually a lot less likely to burn in the way a large OLED TV might. Reason being, when we say "burn in" when it comes to OLED, that's fairly literal, the screen gets too hot due to the electronics required to have the entire screen at a certain brightness. So for example, a 55" OLED TV might have a full screen max brightness of something quite small like 150nits, but a phone screen with a 5.5" OLED might be able to do full screen brightness of as much as 1100nits. Reducing burn in is about reducing heat, which is why recent Sony TVs get 20% brighter than LG OLED TVs since Sony builds a rather large heatsink into the panel. For a 7" screen, I think the burn in likelihood on the switch is extremely small, but of course I wouldn't say it's impossible. But it would take a very long time on constant static images. Also the way OLED screen manufacturing has been scaling up, particularly for small devices, I'm actually pretty suspicious of the idea that it's $50 more. I don't have any insider info or anything but it's much more likely that other parts in the new model contribute to the higher cost due to the parts shortages. They're tooling up for a new model which can be pretty costly.

My thing is I've gotten so used to the comfort and portability of using my Switch Lite when going out that I don't really want to take a bigger Switch around with me again. At home I just play on a TV and the OLED does nothing to improve that experience. So unless there's a really cool special edition OLED model with BotW 2 or something, I don't really see any point in me getting this one, even though I usually go for upgrades.

What do you think about upgrading a day 1 switch? That means getting double the battery, joycons without drift, connectivity issues and a problematic L button, a scratch-less screen plus the new features. It's still spending 350$ (or closer to 450$ in my country)… But does it sound like it might be worth it?
Thats my problem too because I also have a day 1 switch and I am still on the fence and if I don't get the OLED I might just get the white joycons because they look nice 🤣
I would just get a v2 Switch, personally. If you need ethernet support, you can just buy an ethernet adapter on Amazon. If you play mostly handheld, that might be more of a point toward the OLED, but I think the OLED cons outlined in this video are reason enough to avoid that. Plus, at least if you get v2, you're saving at least $50! >:D

Just a note about the saturation on the Pixel screen during Mario Odyssey.
I might be wrong, but it looked like you were looking at a RUclips video, and in general, during compression RUclips darkens the video and increases the contrast, so that's also a factor.
The best example would have been a raw video captured with a capture card, no compression whatsoever, and opened with a player like VLC.
It’s worth mentioning that the oled will have less pixel density than the current lcd switch… which means it WILL look more pixelated

I've had a Samsung Galaxy S8 for over 4 years now, and I haven't had any burn-in issues. Maybe it's the small size of the screen, but if it was that big of a problem I feel like my screen would have been burnt in really bad from playing so much fire emblem heroes.
It looks pretty great, honestly. It does some trick where a text message glides in from the top of the screen while your screen's off, you can't even tell that it turned the screen on to do it, it just looks like magic to me.

everyone is saying about how "its so bad, an improved version of a console costs more" but what you have to remember is 1. oled panels are going to be more expensive to purchase, and nintendo still needs to make some sort of profit 2. the dock comes with built in ethernet, which if you go for the current official option to get ethernet on the switch, its gonna cost £24.99 3. the screen is bigger, not by much, but its still a bit bigger, however this means they now need to make new moulds to make the screen fit in the case and finally 4. the improved stand, it will cost around £5-10 for an improved stand for your switch, and those you have to carry around with you, rather than being attached to the console.
in conclusion, IMPROVING THINGS ON A CONSOLE WILL MAKE IT COST MORE MONEY

I have a Samsung S9 Edge which has a 1440p AMOLED screen. It is indeed very vibrant and pretty. I've had it for about 4 ish years now and I am experiencing burn-in within the past year, in the form of words and shapes from app UI's, and general lines of discolouration at the top and bottom of my screen. The burn in is only really noticeable when the screen is white, so it's not always a problem, but when it shows up, it's fairly annoying.
Buying the OLED version to replace my launch model. Keeping it as a mainly TV setup (on the living room telly).

@@YounesLayachi why? The Switch revision is literally the same as the V1 Switch except a better battery life, and spending $299 on it if you already own a Switch is really not worth it. Sure the OLED model is $50 more but at least it has a bigger screen, better kickstand, enhanced audio, 64 GB, new dock, etc... Including the battery life of the V2 Switch. Just save up an extra $50 for an OLED model so you can get a slightly better gaming experience instead of buying a V2 Switch. If you're only looking for a better battery life and you literally don't give a fu* about all the features the OLED model has then that's your choice, but imo get the Switch OLED instead of getting the exact same Switch except the V2 that literally doesn't change anything from the normal Switch except its battery life.
@@Link-Link you're missing 2 important pieces of information. The first one is that the switch V2 has better battery life BECAUSE of a more power efficient SoC that doesn't overheat nearly as much as the switch v1.
The second piece of information is more apparent : commenter said they use the switch in docked mode, the oled model is a waste of money for people who don't play handheld.

One of my old phones was a LG v30, if I remember correctly, it should be the same screen as on the Pixel 3. LG definitely saturated the color on their OLED panels.
I currently have a Samsung Note 20 ultra, it has a 7inch OLED. Great screen, pretty happy Nintendo went with Samsung to make the screen.

I’m not 100% certain if I missed something, but you’re not giving the pixel a chance by playing videos. Certain codecs can really compress image quality, and colour depth etc which will severely skew your results. The only real way of seeing would be using a phone that allows hdmi in like the Sony Xperia Pro, but thats a $2000+ dollar phone haha.
Nearly 3000 hrs on a lg oled used for movies, games,and yes as a computer monitor. So far no burn in
It really depends on the usage you give it. The HUD elements always being there could potentially cause burn in but that's highly unlikely
Well the switch battery does not last for hundreds of houres before it needs to charge so it would not be a problem.

I bought a new 4k tv for my bedroom for gaming, everytime I look at the family OLED TV in the lounge room I feel like I'm missing out.
Everything looks beautiful on it.
If you played a PS4 on a OLED TV and a PS5 on normal LED, The PS4 on the OLED would look way better.

google pixel has more ppi than the led monitor in comparison for this video..
mainly because the google pixel has smaller size so it looks more crisp..
if you can stretch the google pixel screen equally to the monitor in comparison, probably it will has the same result since both of led has same resolution (just different in density)

So for $50 more you get a better looking screen, a BIGGER screen, double the internal storage at 64 gigs, and more sturdy kickstand, and slightly better audio. For 50 and those things, the pill isn’t that hard to swallow. If only OLED was added, then I would be like meh. That bigger screen filling out that thick ass bezel is huge for me. It bothered me that there was so much screen left to use and it was just a thick black bezel. I really love the OLED.

Boosted: See accurate colors with more vividness. This is on by default for Pixel 2.

Having owned a handheld PC I have to say Nay, sorry. It's a smaller shitier PC. It just made me want to play on my actual pc or a laptop. It's not like the price is that good either, it's at minimum a 530 USD for a decent unit.
It doesn't even have exclusives to push me towards buying it.

@@waverazor probably a GPD of some sort. Steam are a little late when it comes it handheld PCs, but I don't know how good the Steam Deck is.
Wii burn in was b/c plasma tv's were so popular when the Wii came out. Plasmas also burnt in way more easily than Oled currently does.

To be clear LED panels DO turn off / dim the backlight but its not 1px to 1led so you still get light bleeding through. Several companies are making microLED which is brighter than OLED, doesn't burn in, and will be a lot closer to 1 LED per pixel. It's just being developed right now
If they launched with OLED first and then introduced a cheaper Switch with an LCD...MAYBE people would give it more meh
