Happy Birthday! At 47, I was doing archaeology. That was 22 years ago. At 60, I got rid of everything I owned except a bag of clothes and a laptop, moved to Vietnam to teach English, and stayed for over 7 years. Returned last year, retired, got a fun job at the local community airport (got to fly in a gyrocopter yesterday), and couldn’t be happier. Your comments about looking back on your life ring very true at this stage of my life. Enjoy your youth, young man.

Happy Birthday. I used to feel that way too about "old". I'm now 78 years old. I'm feeling it physically but not mentally. Until I try to lift something! I appreciate your podcasts so keep them coming.

Okay Andy, had to pause at 14 minutes to just say you are good enough. Finding your podcast has brought so much to my life, as weird as that is to say. You have incredible insight, candid honesty, and an amazing way of delivering hard truths in a digestible way. I'm a 45 year old woman, about to turn 46 in December. I too, never envisioned being this age. I remember when my parents were this age and thought they were elderly. It's amazing how our perspective changes as we get older. I will say this, I have lived through some horrible chapters of life during my 45 years, but they were mixed in with amazingly beautiful moments along the way. Yesterday, I pressure washed our new house and had an absolute blast. As soon as I got the delivery notification I was out assembling it and getting to work. Wore my swimming goggles and had my 80s playlist blaring in my ears. I saw my senior neighbors giggling. I've learned to take joy in all the little things. I might as well have been on a slip and slide going through sprinklers as I did when I was little because that's how much fun I was having. Happy belated birthday, Andy! Looking forward to reading your book.
Well, Andy, I'm 62 as of the 9th. I ask myself the same question. Still not sure why I am here sometimes. What I do know is this... it's not what's behind you that is important, but it gives you the trajectory you will be on. The best part is that you haven't reached apogee yet. Keep up the good work you do.

Hey Andy. First, Happy belated bday! Second, as twice self published author, all I can say is don't ever feel that you aren't good enough. Self doubt is a killer, a paralysis by analysis if you will. Took me 10 years to write and publish my first novel and honestly, alot of it was because I wasn't sure it was good enough and worried about what people would think. Finally I said fuck it and just did it and I haven't looked back. Novel 3 is coming out next year and I'm enjoying the process along the way. All the best to you going forward with your book and life in general. Cheers!

I feel like if you,anyone,is in a life situation that is successful,then you,or anyone,is deserving of! If we remain grateful for the reality’s we are experiencing we are even more deserving! Funny thing,as we get older certain numbers concerning age are not as old as we once may have thought! If we continue to take care of our minds and bodies we can continue to thrive! Thanks for letting me share my views on the subjects!

Time is a percentage game, when your five a year is 20% of your life, 10 a year is 10%, 50 its 2%, at 52 its hard to remember simple maths! , no wonder it feels liking it accelerates! to visit with you at the airport this summer (MSP) but I wasn't sure if it was you, so I refrained from stopping you. It would be fun to have a conversation with you sometime because I really enjoy your insight on things. Ive been telling both of my kids (24 & 22), since they've been old enough to understand, to not allow themselves to look back when they are old and say "I wish I would've...". I believe that is wise advice and I'm glad you stated it so succinctly today! Thanks for what you do, you are good enough and stop trying to get better!

Happy belated birthday Andy. I’m in the same camp. B-Days are relative. Hit 65 this year talk about a wake up call having to register for Effin Medicaire. Anyhow, no med issues really don’t feel any older than like 35 except for my hearing due to a life of unprotected exposure to boom booms. Do have some regrets though, but we move on and try to do the right thing, fight the good fight. Anyway, enjoy your insights man. Each one’s a nice fresh perspective. Happy birthday, youngster. 47 isn't old. Wait until you ave reached my age or your dad's age before you start complaining about being old.
Turn 48 next month and while I have have emotionally/ psychologically matured( somewhat) in a lot of ways I feel like a teenager or may early 20s, physically I feel about 108 , not slothful, just lots of damage. 😂
47 is not old, it's not young , it's older not old. Sometimes I wish I was still 26 most of the time I'm glad im not.
