A lot of people saying we should ride Alafia.. we did! That video will be on my wife's channel Van Girl Yuka, next week: ruclips.net/channel/UCdNY35R25jDh_hoCPB2hQvg
BCpov disappointed you guys didnt get a chance to ride drunken monkey at croom and the vortex pit santos while you were in florida. They're arguably the best trail and freeride spots in Florida
Hey, this is Tyler (I’m the younger rider you saw at graham swamp a few weeks ago). I’m glad you enjoyed the mountain biking scene in Florida, it’s much better than most people think. I hope you have a great year of riding, and I hope both of you stay safe out there. Happy new year!
I helped build the berm on the 2ed finger. I hope you ride more than just carter while in FL grapefruit trails have some killer jump trails, Virginia key has some amazing wood features, Alifia santos and balm boyette are all amazing as well
As someone who lives in a super flat area of the UK these trails look amazing, it's so cool to see how they've worked the limited space into such varied trails and features. Great video!
I live in Surrey in the south east of England in Surrey hills which is great for biking. Sorry to hear there’s no hills or trails that are steep near you. Much love from the south east in Surrey
Seth's Bike Hacks and Single Track Sampler both have early videos on their channels from Florida. Seth started his MTB channel in South Florida and Alex I believe lived near Tampa. His new van still has Florida plates on it. Ironic that two of the larger YT channels both have origins in one of the flattest terrains in the U.S.
Hey that’s so cool that you were here, I’m a local here and I saw you guys when you were setting up in the van, I was part of the kids group that was practicing at the pump track :D so cool to see you here!
Keep coming down! Alafia and Balm Boyette should be next for you in Tampa! Then head to Miami... Markham Park, Amelia Park, and Virginia Key are waiting for you! I'll totally ride with y'all this weekend if you're down!
I've ridden bikes my whole life, originally a trials rider. I've recently come in to MTB and Dirt jumping and found i'm terrified of doubles. The idea of a "tow in" is new to me and I've never heard of it but man I can see how this would completely help to take away the nervousness. Gonna be asking the locals for a tow in now :P
Skunk Ape is the name given to Florida's version of Bigfoot / Sasquatch. I've heard the stories from people with encounters and they always mention the smell. I don't believe the stories but they are entertaining. Welcome to Florida! 😎👍🌴
Yooooooo it's cool I saw this posted on our local Facebook group before it was on RUclips. I am so bummed I missed you guys. Carter road is amazing riding.
I live near there and take my dogs on runs along the trails. I have ridden some of the trails but that was a long time ago, before my bad wreck on a road bike. Almost lost a leg but they saved it. All's good.
"Skunk Ape... What kind of name is that?" Fun Fact: As a Floridian you grow up hearing the "Skunk Ape Myth" which is actually Florida's version of the Sasquatch or Yeti.
@@joethepopoful 1hr, 13 minutes, Santos is further. I think if one is going to drive that far north that they are better off riding Santos. I usually will hit Santos on my way back up to NC.
Realize my parent's live about 25 minutes from there. I usually go rida Alafia when I'm down there but all the YT videos are stoking me to go ride here.
So to be clear this is not what is referred to as Alafia? I was just in St Pete and Tampa this past week and went to a couple LBS just to see if they had any trails in the area since I fly here for business now & then...we are able to extend our stay so long as we only expense company time, so I'm planning on staying for 2-3 extra days and wanted to try to fit in some rides if possible.
@@modsquad8u no this is at Loyce E. Harper park in Lakeland. About an hour from St. Pete traffic permitting. Alafia is at Alafia State Park. Very similar distance. Both great trails.
I saw this video two years ago before I mountain biked and I live in Virginia one day during online school in quarantine my mom said do you want to go mtb biking so we went then I knew I found my sport 2 years later here I am on vacation in Florida for spring break and after swimming with manatees I finally convinced my parents to go. I went on every trail you did I’m 11 so young people can do anything. Also everything on camera is so small every thing here was much bigger than it looked everyone should respect Aron more… Also I might have met your Friend that guided you… they look similar.
I’M SO EXCITED! I’m moving to Florida very soon and wanted to try mountain biking for a while now. Guess I have an excuse to ask my parents for a bike that’s not from Walmart😂
Welcome to florida hope you guys had lots of fun, I was riding out by santos yesterday! If Yuka wants to see some monstrous alligators take her to lake apopka loop trail, I take my gravel bike out there when I want to mix things up a bit. You can ride your mountain bikes out there even though it’s not a mountain bike trail. But if she wants to see some giant’s laying by the side of trail, you guys can go for a ride out there. Also not all of florida is flat. There is some serious 16-17% grade in Clermont florida.
*For those of you who don’t know, skunk ape is basically the Sasquatch but for Florida Alabama and Louisiana, it’s in swamps and is a local urban legend.**We even have a shop dedicated to skunk ape merchandise here in tampa*
Neat, this is very similar to a riding spot in florida near Ft Lauderdale. Similar concept. Interesting trails. I did miss my New England granite though!
Glad you made it here to Florida! I have yet to get to tampa area, so its good to see what I'm missing. This vid just makes want to get there today. Thanks for your video, enjoying it!
I recently rode at Carter Road and was amazed after watching this video how much more beginner friendly the beast jumps are compared to this video with there being no gap jumps any more.
is it just me or does anybody else think Yuka is adorable? I mean her accent and overall a really happy mood! she seems like a joy to be around! you chose your wife well!
Ok you went through Georgia and didn't stop on the way at all the great trails? Blankets creek, olde rope mill, big creek also the many more in north georgia.
We must have just missed you! We were there last week. Did not do the jumps on beast! nice, 100% agree on new and fresh! We saw a 7 foot gator, she would have loved it.
I'm on the same page as Yuka when it comes to animals. In Georgia, I see at least 10-30 deer per ride and I always find myself saying "hey buddy, how are the woods today?!" when I ride by them. Hahaha
i remember probably 8 years ago now or so my cousin and i talked my grandpa into letting us take our bmx bikes( i know this is an mtb channel) to florida on a trip we were going on. they had a house in ft myers, we rode up and down the island and the whole time we were there we went to so many skateparks. not a single one would let us in lol.
I live completely opposite side of Florida from Tampa and honestly you can find anything on Florida like you name it its here I saw a Bob cat in my neighborhood last weekend
Hey, I noticed on the map, before heading down to Florida, it looked as if you guys were in the NC mountains, is there a video about that trip, if you guys even stopped there? Thanks very much and I understand you are busy and probably can't reply that quickly! Cheers, you guys are awesome!
This is closest one i've seen near me so far, in central florida there isn't any cool downhill type trails that i know of. I"m not sure i'd go here though, i'm not an experienced biker and i think i'd fall into that water for sure. But being that i used to BMX as a kid, i could do those 3 jumps no problem, that would be fun.
