My dad and I love the uniqueness of this car without a traditional rear wing. Would love to get it for him, but I can't bring myself to drop $200 on it. Even if I could, I don't know where we'd put it.
that is lego in a nutshell. The actually good looking sets are like, 200+ which is heavy on the wallet. The cheap sets look nice too but like a 20 dollar one vs a 200 dollars one? Come on now lol
@@beanbaguk Yea I didn't mean to say that it was ever much better, it's just that when I was a child I didn't care about the price at all cause I wasn't the one paying for it.
Thank you Balazs, a great review. I am pleasantly surprised how good the Peugeot model looks when completed, and I take your point about the plethora of stickers needed, after all, successful racing teams, and their racing cars, will have lots of sponsors names/logos on the body work, and these can’t be tampo-printed on the Lego bricks without a serious hike in costs. I am surprised at the UK list price, I thought it would cost more, but I would still prefer to buy, and build, the Landrover Defender. I liked the way you compared the Peugeot with the older Lego Technic Le Mans racer, and I think that this has really captured just how well Lego have improved the look and quality of their technic models in just a few years. Huge respect to the Lego designers who worked on this project, and really nice comparison from you! Great stuff, please keep up the good work.
Very cool model. Interesting setup for the suspension but good on Lego for replicating the design function the best they could given the parts and scale. Seeing the comparison between this and older similar scale models really shows how far the Technic theme has come over the last handful of years. Price, and value is really good, but personally prefer the in between scale and simpler builds of The Raptor, and Ford GT.
The fake electric motor and differential for the front wheels is a really nice detail! Did not expect that at all. I just finished with chapter 2 myself. So far really enjoying it
That Peugeot looks amazing. I will definitely be adding it to my collection of Technic racing cars. Will look great around 911 RSR and Ferrari 488 GTE seeing as all 3 cars are from WEC
I thinkk its sick how they did the electric motor, I think it beats out other 1:10 cars due to its more advanced and newer suspension mechanisms and the unique representation of the hybrid drivetrin
Man im deeply conflicted about this set, back when i built 42039 i found myself wanting more detail and perhaps some representation of the hybrid systems in the then LMP1, but now that we have this car, with only a spinning block on the front axle, nothing in terms of other geared functions or a gearbox, for a 200 euro pricetag... I might just rebuild 42039 again.
I'm only just getting back into Lego after years away. I built set 42000 (the red and white F1 car) years ago and loved it, so want to get more Technic. This set is the first one I've seen that really appeals to me. The Chiron is my favourite car of all time, but the Lego version of that, the Ferrari and the Lamborghini all look kinda off to me, and I don't know why. I think this is gonna be the set I finally pick up as I think it looks really good!
08:10 Yes hard to fix, and esay to confuse, that's right, so as fronts lights parts. 8 hours to build for me, and happy with the final result , looks great :)
I've got the original LeMans racer on my wall, but I'm wondering with this one, I might not be able to hang it. It looks like the engine cover just sits on the car without any proper attachments. If I hang that on my wall, it'll fall right off, so it'll definitely need some mods. Or I might not just buy this one....
"It's a Le Mans Race Car, what else did we expect?" Thank you! I think complaints about stickers are absolutely pointless when the car the model is based on is covered in decals itself.
I was hesitant to get this set since it is not to scale with the bigger sets that I already have. However, I really liked it when I saw it in one of those random articles. This is a great review as I just literally pressed the "Order" button on the Lego website before watching it. These sets are increasingly getting expensive and I justified the purchase only because I have points and was able to avail of a decent discount (it was really between this and the Star Wars UCS X-Wing which I already have, albeit in a previous iteration). Again, good job on the review.
My biggest issue with the Peugeot (I just got it) is that there is no interior sticking. I know it is a small complaint, but the 911 RSR and the Ferrari 488 GTE got interiors and sticker details. I feel for the price, we should have gotten that
I'm wondering if the new shock absorbers would fit on the Tchnic McLaren F1 car. That uses the older yellow shock absorbers and given the weight of the car after a while they lose their bounce and the car sits completely flat with no ground clearance. Does anybpdy have any advice on this?
Thank you Balazs for your reviews. 😊. Question: generally in these Lego sets are there some extra spare bricks? I am mounting this set together with my child.. I followed the instructions carefully but i have 6/7 pieces left already from the first bags (numbered 1).. I ask as I am not a Lego expert.. Anyway.. Maybe in the next months we'll disassemble it an retry! 😅 Thanx again and Happy New Year 🎉
Thank you, happy new year to you too! There are spare parts in LEGO sets, usually not bigger than 1x1. You can find the list of the spare parts at the end of this page - rebrickable.com/sets/42156-1/peugeot-9x8-le-mans-hybrid-hypercar/?spot=search_global#parts
There are also a few small extra pieces in LEGO sets. If you check the set's inventory on rebrickable.com, you will find the list of spare parts at the end
Is it the first time when you had to use some force and flex some assemblies while attaching things? I don't recall any of your previous assembly videos looking like that. Feels as if the quality of the instruction dropped significantly.
I'm looking forward to acquiring several of the new 3x5 lift arms. May I have your permission to use the image of it from your video in my RUclips community page?
Being first is overrated. Your reviews of Technic models offer the best insight. It's the first time I see that blue spring, what is your opinion of it? Do you think it offers benefits to justify its larger size?

It’s a tough choice as it’s no doubt very expensive. But if you do manage to pick one up, they look awesome wall mounted 👍🏼

it's really the only thing keeping me from buying lego in general, the prices are always way too high for me
@@Flugs0 Lego has been and always will be incredibly expensive. It's never been a cheap toy, even back in the 80's when I was a kid.

I think this looks awesome. Massive leap forward vs the 2015 equivalent.
the new one looks better but i feel like the 2015 one had more functions + it could use a motor
"I know some of you are pre-heating the capslock button already" 😂
Thanks for the detailed look at the suspension! Really cool setup, much different than in previous Lego cars!

And the same scale which I really like
I have the 3 models you mentioned....the Peugeot is by far my favorite
This looks fantastic. I will definitely be getting it.
Very cool looking build. Definitely picking one up!
Something about it reminds me of those Lego-Alternative sets. In a good way. Very unique.
i like sets with stickers cus then i can have a plain car if i just dont put them on. seriously impressed with this set and the review, stunning.

In my opinion this is the best 1/10 scale car yet.
I thinkk its sick how they did the electric motor, I think it beats out other 1:10 cars due to its more advanced and newer suspension mechanisms and the unique representation of the hybrid drivetrin

I was REALLY skeptical about this one. This detailed review changed my point quite a bit but I can't justify 200€ on this set :(

The car looks great! And good 1st part of review of the peugeot🎉 good video racing brick and keep making video's bro!
Will definitely be saving up for this!!
42049 actually = 42039 , not complaining, just sharing so others can find the original :) cheers for the 9x8 video! Love the look of this new beast!
I remember buying the 24-hour racecar for 100 euros back in 2015, and now the price has doubled on the new build. Time flies ....
Could you show the steering angle because most sets like the sian have realy bad steering angle
Insane model, awseome video and build process. Excited to get this one started! Cheers
Great review, as always. One of the better 1/10 'lite' cars 👍🏻

Like the colors here!
What's the remaining brick of Lego Peugeot?
Looks amazing, the windscreen assembly looks a little odd without the glass but that's my only criticism.
I love the shape and color of the car. I'd be very interested in seeing it without most of the stickers.
Awesome video as always, I also have the 24hr one this is a more refined version though. I may get it.
great review and video ill be getting the porsch kit on saturday
I'm sad, I spent all on sp3 now can't afford this one :(
I just bought this fur $150cad can’t wait to build it
I can't believe how the car's machnism works!
Hello from France ! This is a must have and invest in. 😍 It will sell like crazy here !
CapsLock button preheating is a great analogy for armchair racing experts. 😂
I get they didn't do the Porsche or Ferrari WEC car.... but, I'd still really really REALLY want those!!! they look soo beautiful. (also the BMW btw)
When I look in the unumberd bags I can’t find the large grams that connect to the engine
is there a way to add an electric motor and remote control functions? this would be so much fun if so!
"It's a Le Mans Race Car, what else did we expect?" Thank you! I think complaints about stickers are absolutely pointless when the car the model is based on is covered in decals itself.
6:07 1st weakness of this set.
Using 4640536 Gear 16 tooth will causing front wheel and steering cannot in-line properly.
i love this car
2:52 cool system!!!
I had been waiting for a discount on this set and it finally hit yesterday :) I ll take my 30 USD off and move on to the build :)
On my build I missed the small gear put onto the engine so when I got to bag 3 I realized there wasn’t any connection from the engine to wheels😭😭
I’m not a technics fan but I like this car
It looks so dope
You are so cool dude

Thanks for the review, only one question how can I set my time ?
what set is the red car right above his head?
Why are the tops of the front wheel arches open? It's not on the real car, right?
It is on the real car as well

That spring was included in 2 sets already. It is pretty hard, so you might use the same space with 2 classic ones to have a similar effect.
Does it seem more full and solid than the Ferrari and porche? Those just seem huge and empty, never been a fan of those
Way more solid, demonstration & comparison in the next video
we need some Peugeot rally car for lego creator
