    13. THE BIRTH OF RASULULLAH ﷺ
A part of our Iman is to love Rasulullah ﷺ. When asked who we love the most from Allah's creation, inshAllah every Muslim will say Rasulullah ﷺ. We love him more than our families. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ sent him as a guide, as a nur (light) to take people out of the darknesses. In other lectures, we have been talking about that darkness, that oppression. And today we start talking about the birth of Rasulullah ﷺ. Many Muslims nowadays will say that they love Rasulullah ﷺ, but in reality they don't even know who he is. A lot of what they may tell you is not correct. It is really a fictional image in their mind that they love. But a true believer is the one who actually strives to learn, to learn about who Allah الزواجل is, who Rasulullah ﷺ is, and what are the Quran and Shariah, what this beautiful religion entails. And only then upon that certainty, clear signs and knowledge will we truly love the Prophet ﷺ. This love is not that comes without effort, there is kasab, an effort that needs to be made. Imam Ahmad in Musnad reports a Sahih (authentic) Hadith where Rasulullah ﷺ told us, "Verily there's from the believers who softens his heart for me." It means that the mu'min truly puts down any barriers and lets the love of Rasulullah ﷺ enter his or her heart. We want to base our manhaj, our love upon clear evidences without leaving out the hukook of Rasulullah ﷺ. There are extremes in the Ummah today where one group leaves out sunnah altogether. And then there is a Rasulullah ﷺ so much that they don't bother to know what is fabricated from authentic. We want to be in the middle, upon the haqq, upon the the truth.
In the last lecture, we discussed how Abdul Muttalib sacrificed 200 camels and saved his son Abdullah from being sacrificed. He was making that sacrifice to Hubal. We can clearly see that he was a mushrik but people of ghulu (exaggeration) get upset about this and believe that the lineage of Rasulullah ﷺ was upon tawheed. Even some ulemas such as Imam Al Suyuti also believed that all of the family of Rasulullah ﷺ including prior generations were on tawheed. When Abu Talib was dying and Rasulullah ﷺ told him to accept tawheed, he declined saying what his people would say and that he was going to die on the deen of Abdul Muttalib. We have clear adilla so we should not go to ghulu.
A weak narration that we hear in many lectures is that Rasulullah ﷺ said, "I am the son of the two that were going to be sacrificed", referring to Ismail AS and Abdullah. Though the meaning is correct (as Shaykh Ibn Abbas said) but the hadith is still weak. Others concurring this hadith to be weak include Abl Dahabi sanadan, Imam Al Suyuti (even though used it but in it's takhreej he said it is not authentic), Shaykh Al Albani , Imam Al Bukhari and others.
A great hikma (wisdom) that people fail to see is that when you sacrifice for somebody, they become dear to you. When Abdullah was destined to be the father of Rasulullah ﷺ, then he could not be killed and he had to be saved. But it had to be in a way that he would become beloved to Abdul Muttalib. We will later see that Rasulullah ﷺ was beloved to his family because of the love Abdul Muttalib had for Abdullah. This truly is the hikma of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎.
Abdullah was around the age of 24 when his father Abdul Muttalib told him that he wanted to get him married. Abdullah being an obedient son told his father that he would leave this affair in his hands. He did not back talk or question his father. Abdullah being Abdul Muttalib's favorite son, someone he had sacrificed 200 camels for told the Quraysh that he wanted to get him married to the most dignified, the most honorable, the most intelligent women from the Quraysh. They recommended Amina, one of the most loyal, intelligent and honorable women of Quraysh. Abdul Muttalib spoke to Amina's father named Wahb.
Wahb's father was Abdul Manaf (different from the one in the lineage of Rasulullah ﷺ), his father was Zuhra, Zuhra's father was Kilab. Here's a recap of the lineage of Rasulullah ﷺ again: Muhammad ﷺ -> Abdullah -> Abdul Muttalib (Shaybah) -> Hashim (Amr) -> Abdul Manaf (Mughira)-> Qusayy -> Kilab. So this is where the lineages up the generation join. Wahb knowing how respectable and honorable both Abdul Muttalib and Abdullah were agreed to marry Aminah to Abdullah. Them being honorable and no one ever having been born through zina has been proven through authentic narrations.
Shaykh Uthman mentions a weak narration for some benefits as it's used by many people giving talks about the Seerah of Rasulullah ﷺ but we must know that it is a weak hadith. Waraqah Ibn Nawfal RA was the cousin of Khadija RA. This narration shows that his sister had heard him describe some of the signs of the last Prophet that would come. Ukht Waraqah said that when she saw Abdullah on his way to Aminah for marriage, she saw a light on his head. So she went to him and asked him to either marry her or commit zina. Abdullah told her that as for the marriage, this is in the hands of his father, and as for zina, this is not the way of akramun-nas= honored people. It shows that the lineage of Rasulullah ﷺ was very honorable. Even though Islam wasn't there yet, look at the dignity that was present amongst the honored people, and Allah protects the honor and dignity of such people, even in jahaliya. After Abdullah and Aminah got married and consummated their marriage, Abdullah ran into the same woman but she didn't even look at him which surprised Abdullah. So upon him asking she said that she had approached him before because she had seen a light on his face and now she doesn't see that light anymore and that what I had though to be of the last Prophet. The Hadith has been graded as dai'f (weak) by Al Daraqutni, munkar (rejected) by Imam Al Bukhari, matrook by Imam Al Nasa'i. What we do know from the authentic ahadiths is that Abdullah and Amina got married and she became pregnant with Rasulullah ﷺ.
Abdullah was a trader. Some people of ghulu get carried away and say that the way of the prophets is to be in trade. That is not true. Prophets were sent to every nation and not everyone was a trader, some were even shepherds. You couldn't farm in Mecca, the reason for them being in trade. Abdullah went to Shaam for trade and became sick, he went to visit his uncles in Medina and died there. Kutab of tareekh (Historial books) had clearly denoted where he died. When Aal Saud took over the Hijaz, they destroyed it. Many people got upset and objected this. But we should remember that Abdullah was a mushrik, so why would we go to his grave? Is there a reward in going to his grave under Shariah, is it a part of Sunnah? No. What started happening in fact is that people started to go make sujood and dua to it. If we object to this then are we also going to object to Umar Ibn Khattab who destroyed sahaba's houses to expand Masjid Nabawi. Umar Ibn Khattab once cut down a tree. Abdullah Ibn Amr used to duck his head when passing under this tree just because Rasulullah ﷺ used to duck his head when he would go under that tree. When people started to make the tradition out of this, he cut the tree down to prevent bid'at from taking root.

Abdullah was known to be around 25 year old when he died. This is based on the kutub of tareekh but the exact date is not know because birthdays weren't a thing then. Some people think that Rasulullah ﷺ had been born when Abdullah died but what is correct is that she was pregnant at the time. Aminah was very sad and wrote many poems praising Abdullah and his good character, but they're not sanadan so we can't authenticate them but it is interesting from a historical perspective.
Abdullah died on shirk. There's khilaf of ulema on it because they feel that this is a disrespect to Rasulullah ﷺ but we have authentic hadiths regarding this in Sahih Muslim. Anas Ibn Malik says that a man came and asked the prophet ﷺ, "Where is my father?" Rasulullah ﷺ knew that his father had died in kufar (although during the time before Rasulullah ﷺ there were people who were still on tawheed, even in the time of jahaliyya). Rasulullah ﷺ said "He's in the fire." The man became upset and walked away. Rasulullah ﷺ called him back and said, "Verily my father and your father are in the fire." This is in Sahih Muslim, Hadith number 203. There is a hikmah here. When someone becomes Muslim but their parents died on kufar, it is something very difficult to accept. But our beloved Rasulullah ﷺ was in the same boat. It is true of Ibrahim AS father (covered in lecture 3), Nuh AS son, and Lut AS wife.
Great scholar Imam Al Nawawi who wrote the Sharh Sahih Muslim mentions, "Whoever dies on kufar will be in the fire and their being close to those that are close to Allah will not benefit them." There's no racism in Islam. Abu Hurairah in Sahih Muslim, Hadith number 976 mentions that Rasulullah ﷺ said, "I asked permission to make istighfar for my mother, but my Rabb did not give me that permission. So I asked my Rabb to visit her kabar so He allowed it." Imam Al Nawawi in Sharh Sahih Muslim explains that the nahi for istighfar is for her being a kaafir. Imam Al Suyuti in some of the books also delved in ghulu sometimes but we must remember that he's a human being and humans are not perfect, except for Rasulullah ﷺ.
Other narrations that are either fabricated or extremely weak include Rasulullah ﷺ raising his parents from the grave and having them take the shahada. Imam Al Azimabadi in Awn al Mabud (interpretation of Sunan Abi Dawd) said "Everything that has been reported about bringing back to life the parents of Rasulullah ﷺ are either lies, fantasies or fabrications. There is nothing that has been established authentically with the agreement of the imma (scholars) of Hadith." Imam Ibn Al-Jawzi al Hanbali, Al Daraqutni, Ibn Shaheen, Khatib al-Baghdadi, Ibn Asakir, Ibn Nasir, Qurtubi, Al Tabari, Fathuddin, Ibn Sayyid al-Nas, Ibrahim Al-Halabi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Sheikh Ibn Baz, Sheikh Ibn Al Uthaymin, Sheikh Al Albani, all of these scholars starting from the earlier times to current went through the takhreej of these ahadiths and in short found them to be fabrications made by people out of their ghulu. May Allah protect us from exaggerating.
This is in no shape or form is a disrespect to the Prophet ﷺ. This is the qadr (pre-destiny) that Allah wrote. To lie against what Allah has written is a disrespect against Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى. This is what happened with the Christians. Out of their ghulu, they lie against Allah.
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى says, "تُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ = Allah takes out the living from the dead" (3:27 and 10:31). This ayah has a very deep meaning. Allah took a nur of guidance from the darkness and depths of jahaliyya. Ibn Al Qayyim in Zad Al Ma'ad discusses about the death of Abdullah and states that there's a khilaf of ulema on whether Rasulullah ﷺ was already born or was he still in the womb of his mother. The most authentic opinion is that Aminah was still pregnant and Rasulullah ﷺ was born an orphan.
What was left behind as inheritance was very meager. Even though the family of Banu Hashim was honored, they weren't always rich. There's a difference between being honorable and wealthy. Many a times people can be filthy rich but they have no ounce of honor. Abdullah left behind 5 camels, some unknown number of sheep and a slave.
This is the time before Islam when Shariah wasn't there yet. You will see that in the life of the Prophet ﷺ he would free Anas Ibn Malik, Zayd Ibn Harith and this female slave who he had received in inheritance. She was Umm Ayman RA, her name was Barakh. She lived through the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ and accepted Islam. She was married to Zayd Ibn Harith and her son was Usama Ibn Zayd, RA. Many of the ahadith about the birth of Rasulullah ﷺ were reported by her.
This is one of the most critical events in the history of mankind. We find many miracles, some authentically established and some weak. We will first talk about the authentic narrations and then weak narrations to refute them. When Rasulullah ﷺ was born, Barakah RA was under the service of Amina and was present during the birth. Waraqa Ibn Nawfal RA and others have reported that Amina told the women around her that her pregnancy was easy. She felt as if she had not been pregnant, she had no hardship, no pains of pregnancy. This was to show that this in fact was not a normal pregnancy.
Imam Ahmad in Musnad, Ibn Hibban in Al Hakim reported a narration which is authentic. Many ulema in their work of takhreej have graded it to be hasan (good), and Al Hakim has reported it through multiple chains which is that Rasulullah ﷺ was asked to inform the sahaba about him. He told them that, "I am the dua of abi Ibrahim that has come true, and I am the glad tiding that Isa Ibn Marriam (Jesus PBUH) had given to his companions." It is known that Ahlul Kitaab, Christians and Jews at that time had clear indications/evidences from their scriptural writings who Rasulullah ﷺ was. We will discuss more on this later.
In an authentic hadith, Rasulullah ﷺ says, "And my mother saw when she was pregnant a dream. She said a light came out from my womb that lit up the sky until I could see the palaces/houses of Shaam." This dream was to show that the guidance that would come in the form of the Rasulullah ﷺ would spread all the way throughout these lands and would light up the darkness these lands had been immersed in for years. This narration has been accepted by Ibn Kathir in Bidaya Wan Nihaya, Shaykh Al Albani in Sahih As-Seerah, Al Hakim in Al mustadrak and Ad Dahabi. We also have reports from Barakah RA, others that were reported from the mother of Rasulullah ﷺ, and especially reports from the Prophet ﷺ himself.
The following narration is considered authentic from Ibn Hisham, Ibn Ishaq, Al Tabari. Ibn Hajr Asqalani in Fath Al Bari also says that Al Haytami reported it to be a reliable narration. Shaykh Al Albani considered it to be hasan as well. During the birth of Rasulullah ﷺ, a light came from the womb of Aminah that lit up the room. Aminah said that she saw it to be a physical thing (not a dream this time). Barakah RA and the midwife who were present there also reported this to be true. People sometimes misunderstand this to mean that Rasulullah ﷺ was not human, that he was made out of nur (light). No, rather this is a miracle of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ as an indication of a miraculous event. But this doesn't mean that Prophet ﷺ was not human as people of ghulu believe. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى‎ in the Quran tells the Prophet ﷺ to say, "قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ- Say, I am only a man like you (18:110)." Allah in Surah Al-Ma'idah says, "قَدْ جَآءَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَـٰبٌ مُّبِينٌ- Verily there has come to you from Allah, a light and a book that is clear" (2:5). Muqatil Ibn Sulayman, one of the earlier mufassarin of Quran says that the light that has come was the guidance itself that would take out of the darkness of shirk. It doesn't mean that Prophet himself was not human. Prophet SAW no doubt was a human being but he was the best of human beings.
Ibn Ishaq mentions in a hassan narration that the Jews that had moved to Medina from the knowledge from their scriptures knew that the last prophet would come in this area. They had hoped that he would be from them. Hassan Ibn Thabit from Ansar was a poet who was excellent in poetry. When Banu Tamim wanted to become Muslim, they asked Rasulullah ﷺ to give them da'wah in poetry . But Rasulullah ﷺ said he did not know poetry and asked Hassan Ibm Tahbit to give da'wah instead. When Hassan Ibn Thabit heard the Quran, he knew that this wasn't a work of a man and became Muslim. He says in a first hand report, "I was 7 or 8 years of age when I was in Yathrib, I saw in the aam (year) that would later be called Amal Fil (year of the elephant). During that time I saw the rabbi from the Jews who called the Jews and said that I have seen these stars that indicate that the last Prophet is born." The jews at the time would then turn to Arabs and tell them that soon the last prophet will be born, we will be with him, fight alongside him and destroy you because you are pagans, idol worshippers. But when Allah chose that he be born amongst the Arab, they didn't want to follow him.

Ya Sheik: It may be that the reason people find a difference in Prophet Muhammad's father Abdullah and Ibrahim's father or Noah's son is that they were presented the Truth but rejected it but Abdullah was not presented the Truth and didn't reject it. Why does he not fall in the category of those that did not receive the message? Please layout the counter arguments to your points how the Hadith is weak?

We are to love Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him more then any other else other then Allah! Who is Our prophet? We should strive to learn who Allah and the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings on him with sure proofs! People say ignorant things like the Prophet peace and blessings on him had no shadow.
In Musnad Ahmad, there is believer who softens his heart for me.
There are some who say with their tongues they love the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him... but don't have acts and follow Sunnah.
Abdul Mutallib sacrificed 200 camels to save Abdullah, h/e he wasn't on TAwhid despite what suyuti says.
Do research don't make it sound good, as real sounds good. IT was said he is the son of the 2 sacrifices, Imam Dhahabi and Albani said this hadith is not authentic. Meaning is correct.
10 :00 - The Family of Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him loved him due to Abdul Mutallib's love for Abdullah. at age 24 Abdul Mutallib said I will get you married! He told qayraish give me the best woman, and they said the best dignified woman is Aminah bin Wahab, Abd Manaf b zurah bin Khillab ( different then the lineage of the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him ).
Abdullah b Abdul Mutallaib b Hashim b Abdul Manaf b Kusay B Khillab.
All of the lineage from Adam to Abdullah bin Abdul Mutallib were in wedlock.
in Da'if hadith, Ukh Waraqah said I saw a light on Abdullah's face and said marry me or commit xena. Point is look at dignity. Allah protects even in jahiliyah. in this hadith, Abdullah got married and Aminah.
Darul Qutni said its da'if, Bhukari said its munkar, Imam Nisai matruk.
Aminah became pregant. Abdullah was a Tajir.
Abdullah went to Madina and died there.
Saud destroyed the grave of Abdullah, May Allah bless them!
Sadly ignorant sufis went to make du'a to his grave.
20 :00 - Saud did what was right, history is interesting, but worship of Allah comes first, just like how the Sahabas did.
So Aminah became a pregnant widow.
Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him in Sahih Muslim, Anas Malik said a man asked where is my father, and Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said he is in the Nar, then he was sad and walking away and said My father and your Father is in the Nar.
Its our responsibility to give our parents dawa, but we shouldn't do anything except submit to Allah if they reject Islam.
Imam Nawawi said whoever dies on disbelief is in Nar regardless if the righteous love them...
Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him asked can I make du'a for my mother who died on disbelief, he was forbidden but he was allowed to visit the grave.
30 :00 - Imam Abu Dawud said those who say his parents were brought back to life are lies or weak.
This is Qadr of Allah and not an attack on the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him, don't do what christians do in loving Jesus they attack Allah...
Ayat, Allah takes out from the living the dead, took a light of guidance.
Ibn Qayyim in Zaadul Maad, said Amina was a pregnant widow.
Banu Hashim was honored, not always wealthy. Some are wealthy but no honor!
Abdullah's inheritance was 5 camels, maybe a slave etc.
Many slaves were freed by Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him. Barakah Umm Ayman married Zaid and her son is Usama, this was the slave.
Ibn Hajr has her as a sahaba, and she reports about his birth, and she is a good place to report it from.
WE know the SAhabas, unlike the other books we don't know who wrote it like bible.
She worked for Aminah who said I had no pains of pregnancy.
40 :00 - Barakah knew he was special from day 1.
Ibn Hibban and al Hakam said its Hasan, Prophet peace and blessings be upon him was asked to inform about himself, I am supplication of IBrahim come true for a Prophet in land of Mecca and glad tiding of Jesus.
(Even bible finds that the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him will come in Medina and Mecca as a true final Prophet.)
My Mother saw when she was pregnant a dream, a light came out from my womb unil I saw the palaces.
Barakah said I saw what Aminah saw and mid wife, there was a light from her womb during birth.
Does this mean the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings on him was made of lightt? No its light like that given to Musa.
Quran says the Prophets are human who eat and drink. The light that has come is Islam, the light of guidance like physical light guides.
Hasan ibn Thabit, the poet, gave dawa in poetry and saw Quran isn't from a human. He is from Yatrib, He saw in year of fil, yeahood say I have seen the Najm of Ahmad and said to the Arabs we will be with him and destroy. But when he was born among Arabs they rejected him.
