My mom always said "No matter what you have, you have something to give others" It was my pleasure helping them. Thank you for watching and stay tuned, I may get to go back and do the strut bearings.
@@kickasspowdercoating Thank you. It was a fun day, talking to the young students as they passed by. One thought the car would never run again, seeing the front taken apart. lol
Jimmy...thanks for this video! My R53 is currently stuck at my office and I have to do an alternator swap...in the parking lot as well. Does not seem like too terrible of a job, but I'm overseas and don't have all my tools readily available. Is it possible to do this static (without jacking the car up and putting it on jackstands)? I have access to a floor jack, but i do not have jackstands. Thanks from one vet (USAF) to another & subscribed!
Thank you for your service. It can be done without jack stands but, the car is low and the 10mm under the bumper, phillips screws under there, as well as the 16mm crash tube bolts would be slightly difficult to do. Maybe borrow some ramps, get some help, and push the car up. Good luck.
@@97dsmbishi I have never done a pulley reduction on any of our 4 MINIs. I tend to keep most of our mechanicals stock, mainly for reliability. I'm also 61+ yo and don't need to go that fast or get up to speed that quick any more. lol I do have a supercharger on my shelf with a 17% Alta, I picked up from a salvage yard. Thanks for watching.
@@Mini-Driver I'm waiting on a floor jack and jackstands to arrive this week & then I will do this, and the pulley install since I'll be changing the belt anyway. I got the kit from Cravenspeed w/belt, reduced pulley and NGKs.
I have never had to change the hydraulic pump on our two R52s. I would search for any youtube videos first, then go to a salvage yard for a practice run, if they have one there. Sorry I can't be of more help. Thanks for watching.
I had three OEM alternators (now two) in my storeroom. I used one of those. Two had been remanufactured by a local shop and the other is from my old parts car. (was a running & driving car) Thanks for watching & the question.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE
You are welcome, not a bad job, just take your time and think safety. Jack Stands, Wheel Chocks, etc. Thanks for watching.
Bless you for helping others out brother!
Great work !

@@Mini-Driver Thanks for the advice! Hopefully you do a SC pulley reduction install one day so can get some tips!

@@97dsmbishi Cool! I usually do all of my maintenance outside, so you should be able to get it done. Good luck with the pulley swap too.
Hi Jimmy, my son has an R53 and I have an R52 and needs the top hydraulic pump replaced, any tricks on that one ?
