- Danny Pudi appears in the season finale of Cougar Town as Abed, who mentioned on Community that he got to be an extra on the ABC show. I love the lovefest these two shows have going on.
I love how this isn't even a Danny Pudi cameo, is an authentic Abed cameo. Pants pooping and everything!

Tbh thats not chad. We all know Abed stays in role no matter what. This is Abed. He looks around the Set, mimics the guys who actually are important (idk i never saw the show) and then abruptly leaves. It should be Danny Pudi playing Abed playing Chad, but it just is Danny Pudi playing Abed. As cool as that cameo is that is something that really bothers me.
@Cole Aufdenkamp I'm pretty sure Chad was all made up just to convince Jeff he was a different person for his movie bit. He didn't really confirm if that was real.
This has to be one of Community's most elaborate and meta jokes ever.

Agreed! He is and now I have to watch Cougar town. Lol I’m even watching Ducktales just to hear him as Huey. It’s a great show by the way. Used to watch the original as a kid and just say this one is great. I love that one of my favorite Doctors is Scrooge McDuck which shocked the hell outta me since I was only there for Danny.

The only thing that would've made it better would be if Subway walked through the shot.
Subway blatantly sponsoring shows like these inspired a bunch of fans of the show "Chuck" to all go to subway at the same time telling them to sponsor chuck. They did it and pretty much kept that show alive during the third season.

@@jothePianoMaster13 those were different. It was pleasant to see while not stealing from the act the scene is in. Abed totally stole the scene. Breaking the extra rule, running away, it was totally different than the Stan Lee cameos.
The cool thing about Stan Lee is that no matter who the hero or who the studio was, with the exception of the Blade trilogy he always got a cameo.
There might have been earlier X-Men movies that he wasn't in, but I'm pretty sure he cameod in everything except Blade movies. Elektra maybe? I'm pretty sure he was a juror in Daredevil though.

I love how the story abed actually tells Jeff is real and they implemented it into a scene in the actual show is an amazing attention to detail
Although Abed mentions to Jeff that "Courtney had nailed it" yet Courtney Cox wasn't in this scene, which is my one and only fault with the entire gag/crossover other than that it's an amazing bit.

I don't know why this is so mind blowing to me. I just find it awesome that they ACTUALLY managed to do this little subtle crossover and I love how they explained it in the episode of Community!

What’s great about this scene is that you can see him listening to the actors talk and analyzing what they’re saying as if he were watching the show regularly. I love that he was pretty much acting as Abed in this scene!! ✨✨

No, there's an episode in community where abed goes on set of cougar town for a scene, this is the scene, while technically you can say they share the same universe in the sense that cougar town exists as media form in community but the actual characters from cougar town aren't real

This is a perfect example of how it's important for extras to act in a way that doesn't steal attention away from the main actors in a scene, funnily enough.

Though it's heavily implied that he did make the whole thing up to get his real conversation with Jeff - maybe this is what really happened? And he did just shit his pants because he needed to go?

Basically, Abed said on Community that he was an extra on Cougartown and then a couple months later, Danny Pudi shows up randomly in the background on Cougartown. And it was the most meta thing I've ever known.

This was awesome and usually I'm not that guy, but this isn't super accurate to what abed said on community. He should have been in a scene with Courtney. Also I'm not super certain about this. But I think in the episode where he talks about going on set, he might have made that up. Either way, props to cougar town for doing this. Fantastic

The implication is that Abed's story about pooping his pants on Cougar Town was legit. His story about it awakening something in him wasn't.
When Jeff asks "So you didn't really poop your pants on the set of Cougar Town" Abed brushes past the question quick and awkwardly as if to imply that it really did.
It makes sense since abed became aware that the show was noving to midseason, so he used his meta powers to travel to the cougaruniverse to see whar was happening and if it could be saved. At one point it became to intense for him, even though he IS the chosen one, and he shat his pants, hence the running at the ending of the scene

He looks like he has lived. Chad has lived more than Abed.

The fact that not only did this happen to Abed, but he let Jeff believe it was just a story makes the story that much better of a story! He didn’t want the lesson Jeff learned while yelling/venting at him be negated by his own real shame. Abed truly is a great friend.

As someone that had never heard of Cougar Town, I just assumed that it was a made up TV series with a terrible but descriptive title...
The funny thing is that the title was only accurate for like 5-6 episodes and then they changed the whole premise of the show and it became a really good show. They would put jokes in the title credits about how inaccurate the title was from time to time.
