Tim is a businessman that only looks at the numbers. Nokia and Microsoft did the same thing when the iPhone launched in 2007 up until 2010, they argued that they sell more phones/OS than iPhones and look where they are now, it will happen the same thing to Apple when VR/AR takes off

The biggest mistake of Steve in the first place was that he hired the wrong people (The Pepsi guy). In his second coming he mend that mistake. In his official biography he said that he doesn’t know of Tim‘s understanding what’s Apple all about. I think that he choose him because of that. Steve saw the huge problem Disney stood for as Walt died. He doesn’t want that for Apple. From a current position this was the best strategy for Apple. i think people watching this interview disregard Tim & his visions.... but this actually reassured me that apple will stay of the same "think different" path, afterall tim was there for many years behind apples success & failures... so i believe he may be in the right position.

Антон Honestly I have felt that Tim’s interviews are more about catchphrases and marketing than they are actually about his product philosophy. He is a supply chain person, he only cares about profits period.
I think he means if you’re doing things in the same manner just because they have been that way in the past. The current iPhone design is pretty functional. Also they have been experimenting with the MacBook. The TouchBar was Apple challenging the Function Key row (getting at that idea of doing things the same way just because that’s how it’s been done).
Change for the sake of change is pointless. If they radically redesigned their products every year the changes would be completely arbitrary.

Why not stay eager, think different: with reasonable prices Apple would get higher refresh rates and could enforce platform innovation faster than the competition. And use it’s billions on unused R&D and patents to regain its advanced position instead of temporising & lamenting.
Which obviously is what Captain “One Less Thing” Cook isn’t after.
The longer the product cycles that you’re so fond of, the more ground for the New Apple “take away and return” strategy: taking away one feature (MagSafe, ForceTouch, hdphone jack, ports, iTunes...) forcing you to buy back its improved substitute to regain the same functionality. Which is how they can sit out their mandatory yearly product announcements.
Actually, just robbing customer wallets to have them stay on par. Or the intellectual sur-place of the industry - the classical incumbent milking game, by the self-appraising rose-colored butterfly King Tim Dongle.

I think Tim was always bound to mess up apple. It’s happening slowly but the trajectory is kinda clear. They are also slowly being overtaken by google and microsoft. The latest iPhones don’t even have 5G. They’re no longer the leader of the industry they’re the followers. Basic things like crippled keyboards for the last few generations of laptops. iPhones that cost over a thousand bucks. When Jobs vision was to get the price down over time so everyone could afford one. Sadly Apple has become the follower. Other companies have figured out how to merge touch and cursor into one operating system. Apple is still keeping them seperate for its own greed and maximising sales of both iPads and laptops when they literally run the same basic OS. on top of which Apples bluster about security and privacy as I recently learned myself is bullshit. I’ve had an App Store app I’ve found out been recording my screen and uploading it to god knows where and their response was oh well. No investigation nothing. So the idea the App Store exists to keep us safe is a lie it’s to make Apple the sole seller of apps and cream a fat percentage each time. That is anti competitive and should be an antitrust case. And they also allowed the Chinese government backdoor access to their iCloud servers in China. Yet they wouldn’t help the US government open a convicted terrorists. Sadly I think Tim is proactively destroying Apple. By the time the board realise this it’ll be too late, because it already is. The only way they could avert course is reinstate Scott forstall as CEO who Jobs saw as his protege and successor for CEO. He was grooming Forstall for the role. And was fired on false pretences of being responsible for maps. No. Cook decided to remove all Google assets and forstall got the app as good as possible in the time frame but the deadline for it was imposed by Cook. Tim should have gone and Scott was right not to sign the apology.

The original iPhone didn't even have 3G, the iPhone 4s didn't even have 4G. Apple has never, ever been the first one to jump on new technologies. They're the ones who perfect them. 5G, for example, is terrible right now. The radios are inefficient, the network is hardly even deployed, and its frequency is so high it can't pass through a wall. How could Apple justify spending time on figuring out how to cram a bad 5G radio into a phone, when the network isn't close to ready?
Sure, they make phones that cost a thousand bucks, but everybody does, and Apple in particular has a fantastic phone that costs $700. You don't have to pay $1000 to get the latest and greatest from an iPhone.

You know what else doesn't have 5G? Google Pixel 4, which as you phrased it, is supposed to be "slowly overtaking" Apple. Maybe Apple isn't for you, and that's totally fine, or maybe you're just holding out on them because you think they're "not innovating" anymore. Truthfully, when you boil it down, innovation doesn't happen overnight or in an instant, because what I see is Apple is just getting the fundamentals right (that includes "crappy keyboards" and thousand dollar stands and phones). I can elaborate more, but that would take at least 5 more paragraphs.
Scan I agree with some of what you say. Microsoft and google can’t overtake Apple but yes Apple is being destroyed from within and all clues suggest it’s Tim’s fault. No one can take Steve’s place and innovate like him but yeah firing forstall was definitely a bad idea. I don’t know who can take Steve’s place and make Apple great again but it’s obvious the cook thing isn’t working.
