  • This is an epic focus puller rig build for the 1st AC (First Assistant Camera) that all runs off of only one battery. The smallHD Focus monitor, Tilta Nucleus Nano, and Hollyland Cosmo 600 wireless transmitter are able to run off of a v-mount battery with this setup. Using a wireless follow focus and having a dedicated focus puller is especially necessary when you're using manual lenses and your camera is on a gimbal, steadicam, dolly or handheld.

    this will be nice as you don't have to feel the 1 ac breathing beside you trying to pull focus, looking at the same monitor haha. great video

    I added a tabletop tripod mini leg (example: Ronin S leg stand) on to the bottom so you can place it on the ground when you don't use it. Come in handle. The second method is back heavy. Kool vid

    • @chadwin
      @chadwin  4 года назад

      Yes, adding a little mini tripod/stand to the bottom of the rig would be perfect so you can also set it down! The v-mount versions is definitely very back heavy.

    Does it's job, but it looks janky as hell bro! I'd definitely be looking to find ways to minimise and streamline the build of this if it were me

    • @chadwin
      @chadwin  4 года назад

      haha yeah man! It's definitely not perfect, I just through the setups together with parts I had laying around the studio. I'd love a really clean setup, but I couldn't get it much more streamlined without actually buying parts made for a FF rig.

    please be careful. Tilta says you're not supposed to power the nano wheel via USB. That port is only for firmware updates so you risk damaging your unit.

    • @chadwin
      @chadwin  3 года назад +1

      oh really?? I haven't seen that info anywhere. lol I've been powering it that way for a while no with zero issues so far

    You really need the blackmagic hdmi - sdi 3g. Feels like the latency on hdmi would ruin this

    • @chadwin
      @chadwin  3 года назад

      I'll have to give SDI a try on this setup and see if latency improves over hdmi

    Is there some kind of baby pin receiver you could add to something like this so you could quickly mount it on a stand?

  • @cinemavius

    do you find any issue with the motor ? after calibrating a lens with hard stop , the rotate range between minimum focus to infinity become so short ? any help would really appreciated chad

    • @chadwin
      @chadwin  4 года назад

      Andrean Octavius I haven’t had any issues with that really. But I will say, changing focus is variable in speed. So if you turn the know really slowly, it will spin longer and have a longer focus throw, but if you spin it really quickly the hard stops between are quick and close together. I mean not that I say that out loud (over text) lol I think you’re right, the AB stops aren’t a full 360 turn apart or anything. I think you can adjust that on higher end ones like the Nucleus M and other FF.

    • @chadwin

      Yes! I actually used it last night while filming a video with my Pocket 6k. I prefer the OS of ATOMOS or SmallHD, but it’s still a nice monitor!

    you are a liar !!! you say that any video transmitter can be used for these purposes and you mention Mars 400 , but Mars 400 has not only a shorter distance but also a greater delay of exactly 80 milliseconds whereas your transmitter in the video has a delay of 1 millisecond
