I was prepared to order a diffferent band for my 009 since it was coming with that terrible Jubilee OEM band. The Seiko Jubilee is very nice appearing..nobody but a weinie knows that the end link is hollow and it blends beautifully into the lugs. The finish is excellent and the relative lightness and flexibility make it surprisingly comfortable on the wrist. If people want to mod up their watch that is fine..people do this to everything including cars but most of this activity is unnecessary in most cases and for me the Seiko band is not a disappointment.
Hi Mike.I have this watch. I purchased it and had it stripped down, cleaned and set up for optimum accuracy. I then had a sapphire crystal fitted at the same time. I have just purchased the strap you have presented and hope it looks as good as yours. This model watch, with a little cleaning prior to initial use, and appropriate servicing can be highly accurate. Mine is minus 3 seconds a day. Thanks for your video Mike. I too absolutely love this watch.
I have this band and love it. It is super comfortable. I wear it the most. One thing I have noticed is that the edges are very sharp not necessarily against your wrist but if you scrape your other hand across the top the top edges of the links are very square if you can understand what I am trying to say.
IMHO, the lateral flex and twist of the original jubilee is what makes it so comfortable. Most solid-link bracelets are much too rigid (especially the oyster styles) and they wind up feeling like a shackle or handcuff on your wrist. But yes, when they are worn loosely they do tend to rattle quite a bit.
+Aaron Costello Totally agree that the original Seiko Jubilee is super-comfortable. I think I made that point in my SKX review video, but not sure if I mentioned it here (I don't feel like watching this video to find out :-)). On the other hand, I don't feel like solid-link bracelets are necessarily uncomfortable, but that's a personal thing.
Hi there - Just received my first skx009 (which I love by the way) on the jubilee bracelet and compared to another bracelet I have that is solid link with tighter tolerances (similar to the Super Engineer) it is pretty flimsy feeling. However ... as you stated in your video, when it's on your wrist it is super comfortable. My only real complaint is when I'm handling the watch (i.e. when it's not on), that's when you notice the quality difference. For me, when it's on my wrist it looks and feels fine. I probably won't replace the jubilee, but rather get the Super Oyster for a change of pace. We'll see how I feel in the long run, but for now it's fine.
Thanks Mr.Mike. Nice video. I have a Seiko SKX007J & I used it with both the original rubber strap as well as the nato. But in my personal opinion & preference, I think the jubilee suits it the most than any other strap, band or bracelet. Gonna get one soon.
Having tried bunch of aftermarket/Chinese straps, I have found them lacking in quality, they just don’t do justice to such a nice watch, ironically original seiko jubilee bracelet was the last one I got and was pleasantly surprised, specially the finish, only thing these aftermarket pieces had was weight, they kept on plucking my wrist hair, corrosion, bad finish..list goes on, the oem seiko was very well made and extremely comfortable, dont trash your $ on aftermarket trash is my 2 cents..
Great video Mike, considering either the super oyster 2 or the jubilee fir a second generation Seiko 6309. The jubilee bracelet on it also feels a bit cheap. Screw in links are also a plus point as per a steinhart ocean one I own. So much easier to adjust.
I really like the jubilee bracelets for this watch and I like that this one has solid endlinks but I kind of don't like the design of those endlinks compared to the genuine seiko ones. The outside edge of the endlinks looks slightly curved compared to the straight end of the genuine ones. I also don't like that the last two little links are one piece with the endlink it looks better when they are seperate pieces like on the seiko one (I hope you knwo what I mean :/ ) Now I cant decide which one I should get. I like the look of the genuine Seiko one but I like the fact that the super jubilee has solid links and endlinks too :(
Dominik Hofmann All I can say is you have a very good eye :-). That, and the aftermarket bracelet is much more substantial than the Seiko one, if that's of interest.
I am debating on whether or not to get the oyster type. I have their engineer 2 bracelet which I like the look of but it is not as comfortable as this jubilee type.
Hi. Can you show how to size the Seiko Jubilee bracelet. Does the Super Jubilee get sized the same way? If so, how do you go about doing that? Thank you!
Great video, Mike. I bought the Seiko jubilee bracelet to put on my Seiko 5 but I just had so much trouble shortening it. In fact, I was only able to remove one link and in the process bent all of my link removal tools! The pins just won't give. I've given up on it. Is the Strapcode brand easier to work with? Did you use substantial force to push the pins off the links?
I don't really know. Perhaps the aftermarket bracelets weigh 50% to 100% more? Definitely a difference, but you forget about it after some wear. Glad you liked the review.
Any jubilee bracelet will have will have some amount of rattle when it is off of the wrist. My Rolex (NON-SEL) has some rattle too. Looks like a much higher quality bracelet. I am interested in getting an skx007 as a beater but I wish it had an oyster style bracelet
True re rattles, but it’s much less with the replacement. You can get a nice Oyster-like bracelet from the same company. I think I even have a vid of it on here somewhere. I use it with my SKX009. It’s nice.
I looked it up and I am definitely considering the upgraded bracelet. $79 seems a bit steep but I am sure it is high quality and well worth it if it makes a $200 watch feel more like a luxury watch. Love the Seiko skx007's
If you are sure you have an SKX007/9, then it might be just a labeling thing they've changed over time. The link I provided is specifically for the SKX007/9.
Hi Mike. I love affordable watches. Just thought I would share some thoughts as a lover of watches in general. I have seiko's and Orient's, all really fab, especially the new Ray Raven, so accurate and dependable and looks epic in all black, but my favourite and most accurate watch and so comfortable is my IWC (XVI.) Its a pretty expensive watch and after a lifetime of more affordable watches I wanted just one crafted and engineered watch and saved for what seemed for ever to get a second hand example. There is a difference; My IWC gains 1 second every 48 hours! Quite unbelievable. I also have no idea that it is on my wrist such is the lightness fit and comfort. I chose my IWC because it attracts no attention and has little wrist presence and is very restrained, unlike Rolex or Omega, though it is IMHO a superior brand with great Swiss/American heritage ( I am not partisan, being English). I also like the fact that IWC don't follow the Swiss COSC regulations on chronometer status, they set far higher standards for accuracy, always fast + 0-7 secs. I have never seen an IWC that was any faster than 3 secs a day. I also like the fact that they are meant to be worn day in day out as a daily wearer . i make some comments on the SK in the next post. Love your videos take care Chris.

Heh -- I just tried it, and you are right! You could use the thing as a rasp :-)

Agreed
Nice - thanks for posting this. Think I'm going to upgrade the jubilee bracelet on my SKX009 as a result. Might also try out the oyster as well.

Nice , I'm getting for myself the watch and may be the bracelet too
hi mike, how you open that bracelet? I have one too but struggling to open it.
Agung Bayu It’s a double clasp. You flip away the curved section in the middle, then you squeeze the two tabs on the sides and it unlocks.
@@mike.thomas hi mike, i mean how you remove jubilee strap from your skx
I am debating on whether or not to get the oyster type. I have their engineer 2 bracelet which I like the look of but it is not as comfortable as this jubilee type.

looks jubilee-ish ! is that a real word, but it has that cool factor we all look for in a watch bracelet, grate looking.

+Lester Belen If I remember correctly, the Strapcode ones are screwed, so no problem there.
What is the difference roughly in weight between the 2, is it substantial ? Great review... Thanks.

there are few things I hate as much as fucking with spring bars and braclet adjustments and Seiko is the mutherfucking worst.
So after some wrist time did the Super Jubilee out perform the Stock Seiko Jubilee Bracelet?

Hi Mike, do you know if this strap is available for the smaller skx013 which I believe is 20mm? Thank you.
+wayne murphy Sorry, I don't know. Maybe check out strapcode.com?
Thanks, funny enough I am presently viewing their offerings.
Yes i prefer oyster to this. but this is better than OEM Stock jubileeh of course. not bad.
Are they Seiko made or just aftermarket???
Could you provide us a link for the aftermarket bracelet where to buy it off. Thanks
Also whats the difference between a 21 jewel version thats what i have
I put it in the description. Thanks.
If you are sure you have an SKX007/9, then it might be just a labeling thing they've changed over time. The link I provided is specifically for the SKX007/9.
does it fit to my seiko SRPB35K1?
So has the super jubilee officially replaced the stock jubilee?
Do you mean on my wrist, or has Seiko replaced it. If the latter, I doubt it -- it's an aftermarket bracelet. If the former, yes.
I just used a folding knife blade and I took off those bars in a couple seconds.
Is the aftermarket bracelet more comfortable to wear?
No, not really. It's just a bit more solid-feeling. The Seiko bracelet is a bit more supple. It's a trade-off.
I think you don't need to replace your bracelet don't spend your money to things you don't need be wise friend
Thank you for making this video.
Glad it was of use to you.
where did you buy it?
Casper H Amazon.

03:52 that's what she said :)
Well played.
