The way they depict Captain Marvel is downright creepy. It seems the message is that the female form is shameful and that they should aspire to have the secondary sex characteristics of men.
Yet when Araki was erroneously drawing Jolyene Kujo with a pronounced adam's apple nobody batted an eye and nobody seemed to notice when he caught the mistake and stopped including it on her. Jokes aside, yeah it is really off putting so many of Marvel's modern artists only understand how to draw a woman by drawing a man and giving it a feminine name. It's not giving her a butch haircut or stuff like that, Carol's entire body shape is completely different this decade than it's been for almost 40 years- she's a pile of straight lines and sharp planar features most of the time now, which are masculine traits in figure drawing- men have sharper more pronounced features; smooth angles and curves are feminine- this is 101 level stuff
C Andiron or.... this might be shocking in the real world not all women are big breasted, huge ass, sexy af chicks and we should maybe have some of that in comics? Doesn’t seem as crazy when we don’t go as uncharitable as possible aye?
@@youare5907 That's all well and good when creating new characters, but Carol Danvers, the current Captain Marvel and subject of this thread, has been around since 1971 and already had a defined and established shape, which has now suddenly been discarded for a distinctly masculine body type. They present the image that they believe Carol can't look strong without looking like a man, that her feminine figure that she's had for 40 years is fundamentally weak. She can't just act and be seen as the average woman because apparently sexy women no matter what they do in their life only are here to still be seen as a sex object and automatically make someone have sexualized thoughts that they would want to bang and throw aside if she walked past them.. There's a lot of hypocrisy going around these days regarding this subject. Of course, that's excluding those who REE about anything that doesn't fall into their subjective world view.
Tangentially related, I particularly love it when they say shit like this but then have do a ton of mental gymnastics because the artist they threw a tantrum about ended up being a woman and thus exempt from their tirades about men. Like the one that frothed at the mouth over that Dahlia character in Xenoblade 2, unaware her creator, Risa Ebata, is a woman and has worked with erotica for roughly 20 years, she started at Sogna, animating for their famous VIPER series. So anytime a person types the words men or male and replaces one of the letters with an asterisk, they should be slapped, there's no cure for that level of fuckery.
Let's be honest. Women in comics are usually drawn in a very over-the-top manner. Exposed breasts, protruding glutes, with drop-dead exotic beauty and tiny waists. The thing is: are Male superhero drawn any different? Male superhero are usually as tall as 6 feet and up, with really broad shoulders, highly ripped, with a square chin, an Adonis-like face and very round and perfectly-placed buttcheeks. You never see an actual hero with combines being short, fat, balding, and overall ugly. Also male heroes usually have one or two naked torso scenes. You need to understand that there are high beauty standards in comics for both men and women. Very few men fall within the scope of the comic book beauty standards for men. Superheroes and superheroines are drawn to resemble gods, physically perfect and exhaling youth, power and capability. For those who do not enter these requisites (most of human specimens): well, I don't care. Go to work in order to try and fill some of them.
Noooo don't lead them to manga/anime. Actually on second thought, lead them to DBZ. That work is inspiring. I'm such many boys/man got inspired to work out because they wanted to look like Goku. Ah, Goku looks so cool.
Just stumbled across your channel and glad I did. Love how your structure your arguments and opinions. Love how you're not afraid to embrace sexuality nor are you threatened by people's depictions. Men draw women sexy. Men draw men sexy. Women draw men sexy. Women drawn women sexy. Humans are sexual creatures. It is what we do. Remember when the SJW crowd were hating on Bayonetta, say how men made her wear hair turned into clothes and made her strip to use her powers, or how her overall design was to appeal to the male fantasy? All the while, that was a choice by a woman, that designed Bayonetta to look like a strong, sexy, and confident woman.

It's either that or their current artists are so unskilled they don't know how to draw anything other than a man's body.

And even if we pretend you made a actual argument, two wrongs don't make a right.
Comics are a visual media, sexy characters are attractive and eye catching, people generally like looking at attractive eye catching things.
The reason for distorted proportions etc in comics and manga and anime etc is because those art-styles are all more or less caricatures of humans.
I mean for fucks sake we don't walk around our entire days with perfect lighting etc but you can be damn sure most movies or photos or TV shows are shot with very intentional lighting and posing in mind in order to make things look visually pleasing.
Sexy women are nice to look at, hell sexy guys are nice to look at too. And are we really complaining about realistic body shapes of people who might as well be described as demigods?
Dr foto Yes. Ignoring the fact that being a Demi god is irrelevant to how you look (take a peek at depictions of bacchus a actual god) no one is saying we can’t have sexy woman, just maybe have more types of women....?

Aesthetics, beauty is universal. We all like beautiful things. Some more than others, I'd watch a movie or series just because of the aesthetic presented (including having a single enticing character), but we all enjoy aesthetic pleasure. Why would someone go against that?
There are those who wish to "transform" society by destroying the beauty aesthetic and replacing it with objective ugliness. It's a way to condition people to accept as truth things which are not true. Basically that 2+2=5. "Controlling narratives".
@@wk3820 Try as they might, that won't be possible. We recognize beauty innately. Beauty is in proportion and symmetry, and that's objective, completely independent of the observant. Further from that point, yes, there's our subjective taste/appetence
@@wk3820 what the hell are you going on about? It's not about any of that and I don't understand why you guys don't understand that. That's the problem, they will have beautiful men and women in their comic/movie but will only sexualize the women just because of the fact that she's a woman but won't put the guy in the same poses and stuff like that simply because he's a guy. People tend to wrap their minds around a straight guy's dick instead of a gay man's dick and a straight woman's vagina when producing sexualized content like sexualized things are only strictly for straight men. No one even cares that it's being sexualized, a lot of the time it's mostly because they are strictly only sexualizing women and don't do the same for men... and when they do it's literally only their shirt off or something like.. which isn't the same because it's not like man boobs are sexualized... So are they going to also advocate for all men in comic books, including teenagers, to not be chiseled Calvin Klein supermodels?
I mean... I agree but men don't tend to be sexualized the same as women... Especially since sexualization of women has been going on since literally the beginning of time. Every single aspect of a woman is sexualized while men are not. The whole body of a woman is sexualize while basically only the chest and abs area is sexualized and then again that's not even the same if we're honestly being honest and you know it. Men breast aren't seen as sexualized while women breasts are. Sexualization around men's bodies are usually adoration And when it is full on sexualization I guess men accept it more than women do when they're sexualized because men like knowing that they will be able to probably have sex with a woman and stuff like that. While sexualization of women's bodies is literally just sexualization and seeing as sex object and eye candy specifically made for men and nothing more which has been a problem since literally the beginning of time. You don't even see men in comics in the same poses and clothing half the time. The women's clothing and poses are always more exaggerated and more sexualized specifically because they are woman and they need to be sexual because she's a sexy woman and because of the fact that she's sexy that means she has to be sexualized at least once and a lot of times sexualized throughout the entire thing simply because of the fact that she's a woman and a sexy woman at that and sexy characters apparently can't dress modest and always have to speak sexually or talk sexually or walk sexually and so on. She can't just act and be seen as the average woman because apparently sexy women no matter what they do in their life only are here to still be seen as a sex object and automatically make someone have sexualized thoughts that they would want to bang and throw aside if she walked past them.. Like they can't be seen as anything other than porn for them or something
@@MaidenOfHusbands Look at Gay art, men are hyper sexualized. Men may just enjoy sexualization of their intended attraction. While women really don't care. Do lesbian sexualize women in their art, probably not.

I think it's asinine to want to censor sexy ladies because they look hot or have only people who are born a certain way be designated as the only people who can draw or write certain characters, because technically the best writers of something don't exactly look like the characters they create. Just let people draw what they want, and if people get butthurt about it, we just do it again, sometimes worse to get them even more butthurt, but we try to keep it tasteful or at least keep it tame so as not to make the bosses angry should we be working on other people's projects. There's a lot of hypocrisy going around these days regarding this subject. Some of these people go "REEEEEEE!" whenever a fictional female character is portrayed in a "sexualized" manner... but then turn around and go "Mh-hmmm" whenever men are portrayed in the Male equivalent form.
Oh boy the backpedalling to try to claim she's didn't actually design the character that way and that men altered it mid-production....yeah her concept sketches are in one of her artbooks, no that did not happen.
The sheer denial that women consume and produce erotica as well is kind of hilarious- like you said, they should look at anime and manga...yup a lot of well recognized names/looks in erotica in those mediums are women. Would probably fry their brains trying to rationalize the one who wrote most of Rance, one of the most influential eroge IP's (I firmly believe that we wouldn't have series like Goblin Slayer without it) that has been around so long it actually predates the Simpsons, was a woman, Tori- even after she had to retire from the company due to health reasons, it was her scenario the rest of the series was following.
