Carol I share your absolute love of history and old buildings. I always want to be transported in an air tight bubble ( plagues etc!….) to the time when they were in their heyday. How fabulous would that be ☺️
Lovely seeing you discover your van comforts and settling in 😊 Just two suggestions Buy 2 cab door wind rain shields ...open door windows at night inch n a half and it will reduce condensation considerably. Also a little sink plughole strainer will eliminate food particles in grey water tank . I also wipe things with a damp paper towel before washing up . Also I have an oblong plastic food container that fits in the sink with a lid and use to do wash up in sink for simple wash . And pop the lid n use again later for washing morning or afternoon tea mugs etc 💧💧💧 great water saver !!!! Both have given me benefit in my vw transporter. I smile as you have same corelle bowls and spotty food trays as mine to enjoy tasty food. Ken your appetite is like a GPS (Suri) and leads you and Carol to some tasty food venues 🤭 ...looking forward to your next vlog to learn what. it's. name's new name 👋☺ cheers
Everyone is different. Can’t stand wind deflectors myself and I’d never leave a window open, partially or otherwise. Security! Low life’s will take any opportunity, even occupied and of course your insurance will be invalid. I’m sure Ken has various experiences of what can happen. With proper ventilation you don’t need to leave windows open. We don’t and only ever get the tiniest bit of condensation (there are 5 of us if it makes a difference).
Just got your email. Scotland is so beautiful. Fran and I are off to Skye in September. There is so much to see there. We hope the unnamed white one will venture higher and take us all to a land of magic.
Everytime we see u in the new van now I keep thinking your in a room .... Really loads of light and room , keep smiling in the van guys. Have a great weekend and thank you
You soon get used to spotting your own very special white van in a crowd. Nice seeing how you can fit everything/one in. When’s the invite? 🤣 Nice trip to York. Buzzing. £24! Liked the tower. Thanks for taking us round. Loving the van.
Watching as per on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 👌 😋 York is as nice a place to visit as anywhere in the UK 🇬🇧 😊 The City walls walking around * The Minster 1st class touring attractions ❤👌 looks like your continuing expertise in organising the van is coming to fruition 😊😊 vehicles these days bing & bong with every bloody thing possible so annoying hence staying with older cars so less annoying technology!!!!😂😂 consort will be able to get shut of it for ya,i would have thought! Another enjoyable vlog Carole & Ken 🎉
Hello you two, lovely new van and in my beautiful Yorkshire. I am an old subscriber, been away off youtube for a couple of years really, My Mum got terminally sick was given a few weeks but she had another 2 birthdays, she passed in January this year a week after her birthday, just an explanation why i have not been watching videos has i was looking after her. I will be trying to catch up now
congrats for your new van. You’ve got a lot of space now. You’re right though, someone can miss the red colour, but white is much less obvious. Thank you for the trip at York..
Enjoyed the musical chairs 😂 Good that you’ve found a workable solution. We laughed at the utensil bit, because G would have had an empty table for his most used untensils 🤭 Where have I gone wrong, Carol? 😂 Looked a nice site. Thanks, Em, G & Charlie 💜
Carol. Treat yourself to a wine glass, I couldn’t enjoy my wine out of a long glass like that. Enjoy your new Van, you are living our dream. We tow a caravan but don’t enjoy the towing as much now, went to the NEC on Friday some lovely camper vans. 👍🍷
The glass choice was a nod to our past in Little Red, everything had more than one purpose. Once we get home and get rid of stuff we don’t need maybe Carol will sneak one in 👍
Well, I was drooling over your Brussels. I love them! I am a bit like Geraldine Granger when it comes to Brussels. If you know, you know! I am so pleased to see you are loving your new Consort Nova. As always, thanks for the fantastic videos. Wishinig you both many happy travels and lots of dinner guests in your new van! Just wish I could be one of them .. as long as you are serving Brussels 🙃
I absolutely love Brussel sprouts and the bigger the better. They have to have a bit of bite but if you can get hold of fresh good ones they are amazing. Why do some taste good though and others taste bad? The competition with Geraldine is a comedy classic 😁👍
Hello to you both, we have a Consort Reef. We didn’t like the beeps when locking the vehicle. Not conducive to a quiet life. I phoned Moving Intelligence (Phantom). They talked me through a process that stops the beeping. Too complicated to explain on here, even if I could remember. Worth the phone call definitely.
I just read through all the comments to see if anyone had answered re the beeps! Thanks I shall give them a ring. We also have just got a Reef. I keep worrying about the neighbours getting annoyed!😊
We love York and used to stay at beechwood but have now discovered York caravan park which is on Stockton road and the bus to York picks up and drops off outside the entrance worth a look … love your channel.
I now live in York. It’s a great city. Another time try bleak farm campsite as it’s in fulford which is walkable to the city and there are lots of bus options
Regarding the tight table room, may I suggest that you replace the original table leg with a LAGUN fitting. This goes on the face of one of the side berths, and is completely flexible so you can both sit on the same side and slide the table away or towards yourselves. Not cheap but well worth it!

Greetings from Aus. Thanks for the reminiscence. We visited York pre Covid and stood in the queue for Betty’s. Fortunately it moved very quickly. We now use their online store to send gifts to our family.
I'm from York, my husband is from Falmouth, we've lived in France for over 30 years and we still have to go to Barnitts when we visit and have a Cornish pasty from the shop along thee way 😊
Thank you so much I feel I’ve had a day out in York ❤ reminded me when I was treated to a bettys afternoon tea in York a few years ago it was lovely but I was still hungry afterwards 😂😂
Is there a table post place on the floor between the front seats? If there is, you could get a small additional table both for entertaining and it might be even more useful for a cup of tea if you sit in the front. I have a small trucker style console table on top of the map holder and it is lovely in the mornings when you enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. Happy travels in your new van! 🚐🇫🇮
Thanks for your great videos - really helpful to those of us who are considering moving from motorhome to campervan and understanding how you cope with the practicality of less space. Like you, I cook in our van daily, and this video showed you washing up. Can I ask however how you drain your washing up? I could see you putting it into a rack, but is that rack on a tray or similar, to catch the water (As that pull up table is over the seat and so would require something to catch the water.). Thanks again, looking forward to future video’s.
Our sink has a tray lid which goes under the rack and catches the water. Currently we filter this water before we let it into the waste tank. We are going to trial pouring it into a 5 litre bottle and then tipping it in a public toilet, hedge, drain.
To keep your seats protected get fitted cot covers, especially the one that have a protective backing so if you spill anything your seats do not get stained. I have ours covered and they look like new. I bought the covers in ASDA.
Good tip and we have always covered them in the past. In this van though we are not going to as its time to enjoy them for a change. If we have a disaster we will swap them out. 👍
Very pleased you are enjoying the comforts of your new van, I noticed from my own personal experience that as you grow older you crave for more creature comforts, your new van looks luxurious. I was wondering if you managed to review the railway museum.
Thats what you think. We have used them to sort out where everything goes and been wild camping as normal ever since. Its common sense to test the mains hookup and do all the moving between cupboards on a campsite without any risk of having to move.
Love York. Our daughter went to uni there so we have fond memories. The cooking definitely seems like it will be easier and more adventurous in the new van. Take care x
Have you thought about putting covers over your beautiful new sofas and just getting more trays if you have visitors? That way you’d all be closer while eating. Could the table be pushed out away from the sofas to store the food items like extra rice, naans etc. if needed?
@@LifeistooshortCK I purely meant so if anything spilled off a tray while eating they’d be still so lovely afterwards. I was just trying to maximise the number of guests that could fit together down that end of the van to enjoy a nice meal.
Was the store with everything Boyes by any chance? Our family were introduced to this Northern chain in Scarborough and it reminded us of Trago Mills in Cornwall, another place you can get all sorts of everything!
The secret to share is that chicken thigh is much juicier than chicken filet, and also a bit cheaper. In Norway we do it often in an oven and before we put it in the oven, put the thigh in a plastic bag with the veggies, some small potatoes and the seasonings to sit for a few hours. We also have these steak bags where you can put everything into the oven, like a "sous vide". Practical and it will not mess up the oven. By the way, your missing the tool to grate cheese. And then we need some of the Ken cooking videos. In case you want to visit Norway again, check out Trondheim and the Nidaros Dome church.
I love chicken thighs. Have you ever tried using a salt bath on chicken before cooking ? Two table spoons of salt, marinade in water for 3 hours and it makes it lovely and tender 👍
I will definitely try that. Going on a training course in Hemel Hempstead in a few weeks. There is a lovely pub there in the old town, "The olde Kings Arms". Thats how a typical english pub should look like. Then of course Wetherspoons has cheaper beers and a good english breakfast. Then at the weekend I'm heading up to Corrour station to eat their venison stew. I will also try to find a place to eat the steak and kidney pudding, as you said its better than the steak and kidney pie.@@LifeistooshortCK
Regarding the alarm, I've not found a way of disabling the arming beeps and the manual doesn't mention it. Glad to hear that yours does the two beeps though (about 3 seconds apart). Ours also does this and the manual implied that two beeps might indicate an arming fault but I don't believe it is (and the fact yours does the same sort of backs this up).
So lovely to see you in the van. We recommended it probably along with many others as we have one also. We dont live in the UK but come every year to travel around your beautiful country and go across the channel. Thanks for all the work you put in just to entertain people like us. Bill and Frances from NZ.
Another great jaunt around York. I was surprised at the current state of the Old Castle Tower, it appears to have almost had a total refit out inside from how it was in the 1980s... highest viewpoint in York I think is The Minster. Surprised you did not visit the National Railway Museum, not too far away. Interesting to see the shopping sites, as from around the world it is reported to be not so good, with closures, liquidations and bankruptcies. It was interesting to see your dining setup, perhaps you may need to invest in another table, of a different shape and size, almost like a nautical one that has folding wings (the wings can be used folded and also folded down after people are seated). I had my own design engineered, that can be a table (seats up to 4 cosily), or a sofa and or a separate single bed. Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜 PS: The utensil drawer will always have items rarely used and as soon as you remove them, you will need them... Murphys law!! I would rather carry extra than otherwise, or you can find buying doubles!! I also have outdoor seating for 16 for workshops and afternoon teas too, plus a full sized home-made croquet set (gets used once every few years).❤❤
York is surviving well with regards to shops. Very healthy thanks to lots of tourists all year. The Railway museum deserves a full day visit and the focus was on sorting the van out on its first trip. Visits took a back seat. We agree on the utensils 😁👍
Lovely to see you both enjoying your Super Nova, she really is a brammer! Good look around York, which is on my bucket list to visit some day soon. Loved the pie and veg at the table with the telly on … such luxury. Stay safe and travel well. Beth x
York is lovely, I was there 24 years ago and I can't quite remember. So thank you for the lovely tour. Great to see you settling in so nicely into your new van 😊
Love York, never tire of going there, next time visit York Marina, its a bit expensive but really is a gorgeous ite. Yeah getting a few people round is a bit tight, but every van is the same i imagine, anyway who wants other people in your van 🙂 Currys looked fab, and great in this weather 🙂 Great to see you enjoying the van. Take care Trev Debz and Tyler
Enjoyable video watching you work out the new van and how you use it - I suspect many more months of sorting Mr McQueen instantly recognisable and our connection Indian looked good
Hello you two, York is such a wonderful old town, would love to go visit sometime. Amazing so many tourist for this time of year. To be honest it's a bit expensive in parking, entrances etc. that's a bit of a shame when one's on the road half the year and had to be economical. But hey, I enjoy you filming, thanks so much.
RUclips ads help offset the costs so its a win win having the channel and we can take you all in with us. I drew the line at £48 to go in the Minster though 😁👍
Did you see the Harry Potter shop? I really enjoyed watching that. York is lovely. Verner and I went with our dogs, sitting in a basket in my Rollator. We caught the bus. The dogs were celebrated the whole way round! PS I don’t need my rollator anymore!😅 that seating, you men could sit at the ends , with the women in the middle. On the long side. Otherwise, the cook and server sits next to the kitchen, partner on the other end and guests on the long side. ❤🎉🎉
Your right about comedy these days, just doesn't hit my funny bone like the old ones. I use a cheap plastic sieve to drain the washing up bowl before putting it down the sink, surprised what food particles it catches 🧐
Hari om it's fun, getting settled, ain't it?! Lovely walk around too. Keralan food is particularly yummy; it's good to see South Indian cuisine holding its own here to combat the standard British curry phenomena! YAM xx
HI Carol and Ken, the new van looks good and like moving into a new house, there is always a lot of sorting out. We loved York when we visited UK last year, went twice, first time on our coach tour and then went back to have a longer look, the wife's family came from York and Scarborough before they immigrated to Australia in the early 1900's. Did you manage to go inside the Minster, it is spectacular, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
@@LifeistooshortCK I do agree, I always thought that Church's were a sanctuary for people and was very surprised there was a fee to enter, but as we had travelled half way round the world ....
If you press the keypad twice quickly, that might negate that mildly annoying beep sound. It certainly works in other ways that aren't remotely obvious (pun intended), like cancelling the motion sensors that automatically lock and unlock on approach to the vehicle. Not sure if you've chosen a name yet, but Daniel or Natasha (depending on it's gender) is my suggestion. "Gotta Get Through This" was your motivation for a new van, coming back from France. And as she's currently riding high in the charts again, with the idea of the future being "Unwritten", I'm sure the Bed-in-fields would appreciate a namecheck!
Well, you're glamping now. :) If you have a big crowd to feed on a nice day, park near a picnic table. Why are you looking at strainers when the black pot you were cooking in has one built into the lid, right over the pouring spout? I went back to look again. It's at 1:17. Cheers. Jon in rural BC, Canada
The strainer is to stop muck going into the waste tank as that can cause smells over time. Everything goes through it including the morning wash. It can become a greasy mess so we wanted one dedicated to that job.
@@LifeistooshortCK Ah, that makes sense. You can get a tank additive with enzymes that works on both the black and grey tanks to break down things and keep them from smelling. And there should be vents on the roof. I'm sure there's a RUclips video about it. Jon in rural BC, Canada
Yes we will do that as well. Our water tanks are built to be used full. They have baffles to stop water sloshing and they can trap muck so we need to take care of them 👍
Hi. We noticed your kitchen roll holder and was wondering where you got it from. Or was it in the van as a fixture? We’ve been looking for one just like it for ages. Enjoy your new van.
Thanks for the video, i really enjoed viewing, you two seem more relaxed and its great to see you both enjoying the new motorhome. The Chess set!! i actually have one of them but its Karpov and not Kasparov, i am autistic and chess is one of my favourite hobbies. Ken you can get great chess apps to keep you occupied during rest time etc, does Carol play chess? Anyway the food looked top notch and the Curry looked lovely. Already looking forward to the next video. Take care, Paul.
Hi Paul. We have played chess but we would not pretend to be serious players. We are currently playing a game called Forbidden Island on an iPad in the van and loving it 😁👍

York looks wonderful! Thanks for taking us!
One of the best cities in the UK 👍
Regarding the alarm, I've not found a way of disabling the arming beeps and the manual doesn't mention it. Glad to hear that yours does the two beeps though (about 3 seconds apart). Ours also does this and the manual implied that two beeps might indicate an arming fault but I don't believe it is (and the fact yours does the same sort of backs this up).
I read that in the manual as well. If you leave a door insecure and try to set the alarm the indicators flash quickly which is the real error code
@@LifeistooshortCK my 70 plate only beeps if I try to lock and the door isn't shut. otherwise its a massive clunk as it locks.
So lovely to see you in the van. We recommended it probably along with many others as we have one also. We dont live in the UK but come every year to travel around your beautiful country and go across the channel. Thanks for all the work you put in just to entertain people like us. Bill and Frances from NZ.
We are so glad people recommended Consort as we have fallen on our feet with them 👍
Love your new transport. Much roomier than Red. Beautiful scenery from the top of the tower.
Hi Larry. Bit of a game changer 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Enjoy.
York looks like a very interesting place to visit, thanks for sharing. Your new home on wheels looks amazing, what fun.
Thank you for that 👍....creating great moments of homesickness.....but why are the adverts foreign 🤔?
RUclips adverts are driven by the viewer. Google knows everything about us all and everybody sees different ads tailored to the main account holder.
Great start 👌🏿🚐
Lovely to see you both enjoying your Super Nova, she really is a brammer! Good look around York, which is on my bucket list to visit some day soon. Loved the pie and veg at the table with the telly on … such luxury. Stay safe and travel well. Beth x
York is always worth a visit 👍
Nice vid Carol and Ken. All the best. 👍
Thanks 👍
York is lovely, I was there 24 years ago and I can't quite remember. So thank you for the lovely tour. Great to see you settling in so nicely into your new van 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Love York, never tire of going there, next time visit York Marina, its a bit expensive but really is a gorgeous ite. Yeah getting a few people round is a bit tight, but every van is the same i imagine, anyway who wants other people in your van 🙂 Currys looked fab, and great in this weather 🙂 Great to see you enjoying the van. Take care Trev Debz and Tyler
Cheers. Hope you are all well. We are loving the van 👍
Enjoyable video watching you work out the new van and how you use it - I suspect many more months of sorting
Mr McQueen instantly recognisable and our connection
Indian looked good
That Indian was really tasty but not as good as your local one 😁👍
Hello you two, York is such a wonderful old town, would love to go visit sometime. Amazing so many tourist for this time of year. To be honest it's a bit expensive in parking, entrances etc. that's a bit of a shame when one's on the road half the year and had to be economical. But hey, I enjoy you filming, thanks so much.
RUclips ads help offset the costs so its a win win having the channel and we can take you all in with us. I drew the line at £48 to go in the Minster though 😁👍
Enjoying your adventures in the new van. We love York. It's a beautiful place. Hope you have a good weekend. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
You have a good weekend as well guys ❤️
Did you see the Harry Potter shop? I really enjoyed watching that. York is lovely. Verner and I went with our dogs, sitting in a basket in my Rollator. We caught the bus. The dogs were celebrated the whole way round! PS I don’t need my rollator anymore!😅 that seating, you men could sit at the ends , with the women in the middle. On the long side. Otherwise, the cook and server sits next to the kitchen, partner on the other end and guests on the long side. ❤🎉🎉
Yes we saw the queues but walked past. They were huge 🙂👍
Thanks guy's i loved your visit to York it brought back lots of memories 😊
We like when that happens 👍
Your right about comedy these days, just doesn't hit my funny bone like the old ones.
I use a cheap plastic sieve to drain the washing up bowl before putting it down the sink, surprised what food particles it catches 🧐
Me too.
Yes well worth doing for sure 👍
Love it. We love a good curry ❤❤
Love your content, have an awesome week!
Thank you! You too!
Looks lovely.
Cheers Peter👍
Hari om
it's fun, getting settled, ain't it?! Lovely walk around too. Keralan food is particularly yummy; it's good to see South Indian cuisine holding its own here to combat the standard British curry phenomena! YAM xx
We agree. Very different flavours at that restaurant 👍
No Gary the price put me off. Not keen on being charged to enter a church. If people down on their luck can’t afford to go in its a shame 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK I do agree, I always thought that Church's were a sanctuary for people and was very surprised there was a fee to enter, but as we had travelled half way round the world ....
Yes In that situation you have no choice 😁👍
Proper home from home now 😊
Love York, used to work there a lot. Did you get some pans yet?
We will order some pans when we get home.
Let us know where you are next time, and we'll all come round for dinner to try that table 😂😂 and your cooking Ken 👍🐸
Yes we need a massive cookout special 😁👍
Hi guys just thought of a VAN name call it PJ 😊 he even has it on the number plate 👍 so PJ is getting some cooking items we love York
Nice to see you enjoying the new van must be nice having more space. Just one question what happend to the famous Ridge Monkey ?😄
We have it with us and have not used it once so far. With the oven I think it’s days might be over 🤷
Charlie Brown 😆
😁👍
Consort sell them in their shop.
We are currently playing a game called Forbidden Island on an iPad in the van and loving it 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK 👍🚐
good vid thanks lee
Great video love your new van
Us too! Thanks for watching 👍
Hahaha I thought for a moment that you had named your new van Anuba! 😂 (see 14 secs in)
so have you decided on the name for the motor home?
Yes will announce soon 👍
