    I always secure the knots with (transparent) Bondic glue. It’s not sticky when applied, but seals (hardens) in seconds by using the black light that’s on the other end of the glue stick. I can even cut off the extra thread very close to the knot. You can wear the bracelet right away! Bondic isn’t cheap, but sooooo worth it, as you only need a tiny bit.

    The one downside I can see to this knot is that it will be a little less than the strength of one strand. So stiffness-wise it might be feel the same as a double strand, but strength-wise it less than half.

    Thank you so much for this easy technique. I make elastic bracelets and stretch the elastic. I put beads on for 7”. I struggle here as my bracelet turns out bigger when I stretch the four strings after tying off. Any ideas as to what I may be doing? Thank you.

    • @creativefnk
      @creativefnk  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi lovely! That is interesting I haven’t had that problem! Sounds like the elastic is not tight enough and may be stretching. So making sure you are pre-stretching your elastic really well before starting and then when you tie the knot, make sure the elastic is pulled through as far/tight as you can before tightening the knot. Good luck 🌻💫

    The only problem with this stretch bracelet, it is hard to find elastic stretch that can be doubled stringed for gemstones that are .05… Most all of my gym strings are less than 1 mm. I do have 1 mm beats and 2 mm beats but most likely I will use those for leather. I’m actually a professional metalsmith instructor and I do love beating as well. I do not teach it. But I cannot find anywhere smaller retch elastic string. Hobby lobby, Joannes, Michael’s. Etc… are there some places I can look online.? Because it would be nice to be able to use your way that you tie or knot…???????

      It’s called a surgeon’s knot - that extra “twist” helps lock in the knot better than simple overhand knot. Very effective. BUT, the more you bend/knot a line, the weaker it becomes. Technically, a SINGLE surgeon’s knot w/ dab of hypo-cement is ideal.

      Or, you can make one yourself with beading wire. Cut a piece twice the finished length you want, fold in half into a “V”, then cut it. Keep in mind the size holes in the beads you’re working with to determine what size wire to use.
