I used to own the "retro truck" you mentioned at 7:33. It is a 1941 GMC ACKW 352 Light Ordnance Maintenance Vehicle. It is powered by a 248 c.i.d. 6 cyl. engine and is 4 wheel drive. I donated it to Craig back in 2012, the storage property was sold and I didn't have the room for it at home. Craig and his volunteers performed the restoration and did a very nice job. I'm happy it was saved because very few of the original 385 examples remain in existence.
the "cattle guard" is shown on a Stuart light tank. these guards were used primarily in Normandy France just after D-Day, 6th June, 1944. the guards were used to propel the tank through the sunken roads of the region. these guards were implemented by the troops using locally available material.(improvisation)
The UH-1 Huey helicopter was fun to ride on back in the Army. I actually did rappel off of it a few times and jumped out of them with T-10 and MC-1B parachutes when I was stationed in Panama back in 1989-90. The problem with jumping out of the UH-1 was when you sat on the floor to jump. You had to put your feet on the landing skids and push yourself off very hard to clear your legs to get a proper exit. When rappelling you do the same by getting your body into an L shape by releasing slack from your rope and putting both feet on the skids as the helicopter is moving side to side rocking. Once you are on the skid then your are commanded to rappel. Then the fun is when you slide down the rope and control yourself on the way down. The UH-60 Blackhawk was a much smoother helicopter and no skids. Easy to rappel from and definitely more fun going out by parachute. I really miss those days from my younger days as a soldier. Brought back memories for me watching this.
Amen to that. My grandfather served in WWII in the Navy and passed away last year, just a few months shy of being 90 years old. I miss him dearly. I always loved hearing his stories from the Navy, even though he’d tell the same ones over and over. I never stopped him though. He loved to tell them and I loved to hear them. The WWII veterans are becoming fewer with each passing year. He was among some of the youngest still living. He so badly wanted to enlist, that his mom had to sign for it because he wasn’t even 18 at the time. He always said, “I was too young to be drafted so I had to do it myself!” Even when he was in the nursing home last year he said he’d enlist again if they’d let him. Sorry, I’m just rambling on. Just really missing him a lot bc next mont will be the year anniversary of his passing. 😔
I like it that you do a mixture of different vlogs from going to an amusement park to visiting an interesting place that’s full of historical army relics. This particular vlog made me think of My 93-year-old father who served in WWII in the Navy. He journaled his time overseas and kept all of his service photos with different crew mates onboard various vessels, collected brochures/programs/invitations/menus from Navy events and places overseas his crew served at, saved newspaper clippings about the war as well as awards he earned. I have several old scrapbooks he placed all of these historical treasures in. My father learned that he had an interest and talent for medicine during the war and later ended up going into that field in internal medicine. He had his own practice for over 40 years then worked at a VA hospital before his memory started failing him. He’s now living in a memory care facility with dementia and Alzheimer’s. All of the staff and residents refer to him as Dr out of respect. Thanks Adam for doing these types of videos that show respect for those who served and fought for our country.
My grandfather was a Seabee in WWII!! They were the United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Seabees. Their nickname is a heterograph of the first initials "C.B." from the words Construction Battalion.
This reminded me so much of my Uncle. He was a mechanic and served in Vietnam. I remember him talking about working on the Jeeps and trucks. I had to show my mom (his sister) this and she enjoyed it too. Thanks, Adam.
WOW, there is a museum for just about everything. Of course, when you think about the 'experiences' these tanks have endured, it becomes sobering... You always provide such depth to your videos. Great job, Adam.
yeah, we had a little rampage like that in my town guy stole an M113 APC from the army went police car crushing with it. both these are only exceeded by the guy who armor plated a bulldozer and crushed his town
I’ve been studying Armor for a long while, and they’re like animals, you’re always going to learn about a new one, or something new about an already known one.
Awesome Adam, thanks for sharing this location. I don’t think I am going to make it out west so without your video I would have always wondered about that place.
As a resident in San Gabriel Valley, I drive by Rosemead Blvd many times and know this place exists. However, I have never gone in there to see what it's like inside. Thanks for sharing this video.
That Sargent Fletcher Art/S Pod is an aerial refueling tank system. That was the item that you had no idea what it was and had that long red and white colored arm coming out of it.
Very nice collection. On the east coast the only thing we have that I know is in Danville, Virginia however most of it is an inside museum. Kudos to the video!
Adam, you should see Windtalkers to see some serious armor in action. I used to be with a veterans volunteer group and met some of the crew that worked on it. Great video as always.
You’ve been in my old stomping grounds, (Baldwin Park, S. El Monte, etc.) in recent vlogs - very close to Arcadia where I grew up! Still enjoying your videos, Adam
That's really neat that he gave you a guided tour!! And we have one of those "mangers", too. It's mildly creepy that they have the "rampage" M-60, since the crazy guy was killed inside it, but hey, I guess that's a piece of history too. Great vlog!!! :-)
God bless our troops. My dad is a Vietnam Vet he was in artillery shooting 200lb bombs by the thousands sadly a week after my Dads artillery division pulled out of camp they were over ran by the enemy and we lost every soldier.
savages48 Hey man thanks for your service my dads still alive they over ran the base after he went home. He was there in 68 and 69 also in De Nang and quan tree Ill ask him what division.
As I listened to the Duece n a half drivd by you ! Could imagine that smell of Diesel. Ahh. Then as you walked past the MASH Ambulance then when he mentioned the escape hatch of the one tank, reminded me of Fury with Brad Pitt. Grdat museum tour. Thank you n Hope the start of hour new week brings great Adventures to film.

Watching this and I can't help but think of the Greatest Generation and all the sacrifices they made in WWII. Grateful.
Avery Lopez-Baines - That’s awesome. I bet he had some incredible stories!

I had no idea that was out there. What a collection he has.
7:10 it is a fuel tank with an in flight refueling probe.

I lived about 15 minutes away from thst location and never knew it was there. Thanks Adam

Awesome video. I wish it was longer cool places in California
Glad I found out about you from watching Jordan’s vlogs. Great stuff !
The unmarked tank has a in flight refueling probe sticking out of it... it would refuel in the air from a C-130 tanker aircraft or like
Yes probably for aircraft that didn't have built in in-flight refueling capabilities.
Like the old A-4 Skyhawk
Great Video. Great job. Thank you
That was cool, very interesting
Cool collection! bit of everything:)
8:50 that’s for plowing through brush and hedge rows. Started in WW2 to run perpendicular to roads where tanks would be ambushed.
R Lee Emry did an informative series of documentaries for the History Channel on various military vehicles called Lock N Load. They are on You Tube.
