    I found the story so far earlier this year after listing to bands in the scene since my teenage years. For whatever reason I never checked them out or thought they weren’t heavy enough for me. Now in my mid 20s I don’t think there was a better time for me to start listening to this band. It seems like every song I can’t relate to and was personal written for me to hear. Great video! Got the opportunity to hang with the band almost 10 years ago now in their Vero Beach, FL show back in 2013. I started listening to tssf for the first time in my first semester of college in the fall of 2012. Their music hit home as all my friends went away to school and I never related to a band as hard as I have with them. I was lucky enough to have Kelen hook my friend and I up with guest spot passes through Twitter messaging back and forth. After the show we were able to chill with the guys and some other bands like rotting out and such gold. Was a sick time, these guys’ music still hits home to this day. It’s been wild to see them grow to where they are at now. Excited to see what’s to come in the future for them.

    What I love the most about Parker lyrically is that he aint afraid to say "FUCK MY EX" in the most clever way possible.
    Most pop punk and emo vocalist would cry about their ex and write about how they blame themselves for the fallout of the relationship which to be honest it gets kinda annoying and rather comes off defeatist. But here comes Parker being like "Nah fuck her."
    Were there times he took it too far? Yeah he has and some of it did come off misogynistic. But lets be real, everyone has an ex they absolutely hate.
    I jokingly like to say Parker is to Pop Punk as Future is to rap.

    • @Rob_Cary
      @Rob_Cary Год назад

      As a huge fan of this band, never once has Parker written anything misogynistic whatsoever and the third paragraph totally stomped on the roll you were on cuz you were definitely correct there. Never once did he "take it too far". And also, it's his art. He can take it as far as he wants.

    • @Silencex84
      @Silencex84 Год назад

      @@Rob_Cary I mean Daughters and Mt Diablo alone had lyrics that it was taken too far. I get where he was coming from when he wrote it, but the whole "who you let in between your thighs" or "and to think you are somebody's daughter" does come off eye brow raising.
      Mind you, this is coming from a guy who LOVES boths songs, has MT Diablo in his top 5 favorite TSSF songs of all time, carries a TSSF wall flag in his room, has seen both TSSF AND No Pressure live, and had the pleasure to meet Parker a few times.
      I never said he himself is a misogynist, Im just saying certain lyrics came off in poor taste. You can still love your favorite artists and critique parts of their work or behavior. Its not that hard.

    That's crazy, how we made such different experiences. I went to Rise Against some time ago, where TSSF played support. They're about my second favorite band right now, so I was naturally super excited to see them live for the first time. But I was utterly disappointed by their live performance, I had honestly never seen such a bad act before. Everyone stood totally still and looked bored, no interaction with the crowd whatsoever and not even a tiny bit of talk between songs. They didn't suck musically, they played everything right, but the vibe was dead at arrival. 2/10 from me. I still like them a lot, but if they wanna tour with blink-182 next year, they seriously gotta step up their game.

More people should take Parker's approach and honestly should take the hostility factor even farther.

    guy really? their biggest influence was new found glory. they got their name from an NFG song title. and NFG was the band to pioneer easycore. • @AFFECTIONATEAGE3330
      @AFFECTIONATEAGE3330 Год назад +1

      NFG was not as big of an influence on them as you think. There’s an old interview with Will and Parker where they say they “randomly scrolled through their iPod looking at song titles that would make a good band name” and stumbled upon the name.
      East coast pop punk/hardcore (transit, a loss for words etc.) and their own local scene (set your goals, Bay Area hxc, etc.) were definitely the biggest influences on their sound; and they mention all of this in a lot of earlier interviews as well.
