Yay for Camp and new writing goals for April! What are your big goals for camp, April, or Q2 coming up? Don't forget to grab your camp workbook from my resource library. Link in the description to sign up or check your email!
Also my camp goals include finishing the first draft of my second book (a romance) and start the editing process for the first book I ever finished (an action/thriller)
I've been silently watching all of your videos for weeks and completely thanks to you... I have now written 15,000 words in the span of 2 weeks! (I'm a mom of 3 under 5 years of age and my youngest is 2 months) YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME THAT MUCH lol I've written more than ever before and I'm busier than ever before 😂 so thank you! I will be commenting more to be more part of your community but I've watched so many of your videos now and am so thankful for you! Happy to be here but more so, happy you're here!
Happy you are here, Emily. I wrote my first book while running a daycare and being a Girl Scout leader to multiple troops. Writing is tough without life intruding. You are doing Awesome! Keep writing. Creative Blessings!
Honestly blown away by the quality of the workbooks every time. And it’s for FREE! Seriously, thanks. I’ve seen some paid stuff that’s nowhere near what you give us. :)
Hi Sara! I'm Heidi, and have been watching you for a month or two. Finding you was a blessing. I've always loved writing, but have never finished my book ideas. I'm in my 60s now, have health challenges and finally decided to get serious about my writing before it's too late. Many thanks, Sara!
I have put aside writing for the time being. I no longer want to promise myself things I just won't be able to make happen. So I went back to telling myself stories in my head and enjoy them as it's much easier for me to spin them in my fantasy than bringing them down on paper. And it's a fan fiction that I wouldn't be able to share anyway. So I enjoy making myself laugh and cry and sigh dreamily - and hope that one day I will be able to really write again. But I will wait until the inner pressure will be big enough to really see it through. Which will happen with the right story or fitting circumstances. I have time. I still have so much time. And I am thankful for that. And so thankful for your channel and FB group that motivated me so much while writing. Now I'll just root for all of your writing and celebrate all your successes and it's enough for now.
I've never officially participated in Nano, but I have been using your Preptober workbooks and Plotting workbook to do my own solo version of Nano. They are so helpful, as are ALL your resources and videos. I'm so grateful to have found your videos years ago. You are an inspiration, so from the bottom of my heart, Thankyou. 💖
Don't listen to the voice that complains: why isn't the book done yet. Interrupt that negative voice with: but I love this story and want to go there and work through this part! Hang on to the joy and ignore the rest. Screen shot this comment and put it somewhere you'll see it! Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷
Can you please make a calendar template for the next month as well? It's so helpful to organize time and projects. I've never been so productive like I'm now and it's all thanks to your workbook!
So I've set a pretty lofty goal with the knowledge that even if I don't reach all if it, I'll still have a good chunk of the story done if I keep up with the bare minimum.
Truth is... You can set up any laptop to not connect to the Internet and only use the apps on it's hard drive. It's easy to turn the Internet on and upload to your "cloud" and then turn the Internet off again to avoid distractions. Or you can transfer documents with a USB cord or even WIFI or Bluetooth. My printer is really old (10+ years, the ink cartridges are like $10) and WIN10 doesn't support it, so I print stuff on my old WinXP computer. Since WinXP isn't supported anymore I turned off the Internet so I don't get any viruses. It works perfectly. If you did this, you could use a laptop's full screen for writing and not be bothered with popups and use the pink keyboard you love. 💖🌞🌵😷
You have been so helpful, I am now more productive and motivated after one video of yours , and now you have convinced me to sign up for Camp, my goal will be 25k
I appreciate everything you share with us so much. Really, you have no idea how much it helps and inspires me to keep writing, stay on top of organization and maintain my focus instead of just jotting down a constant flurry of ideas.
i love watching your videos when i need to get motivated to write the story for the game i've always wanted to make. Thank you for always sharing your excitement for creating!!! I think i'm gonna try camp for the first time ever this april! 😳
I completely understand needing a clean slate! I'm working on a big writing project (since last Fall, but seriously, since January), and I've given myself until May 16th to finish it. Which is AMBITIOUS...but I'm SO needing to a) get it done, and b) open up my time to use my creativity and writing elsewhere. Hang in there!
Thank you, Sarra, for the free download of the workbook. 🤟I love the daily sheets they help me to keep writing, as I have a habit of ADHA chaotic mind wandering. You are a star.🌟 Best of luck on your writing retreats and don't forget to have some fun and not just work.💃
Thank you for suggesting that Camp Nanowrimo can be used for something like blog posts. I'm not ready to start my next book yet, but I've been needing to get my blog in order, so that's what I'm using April for (and also to finish editing my book). And I'm so jealous you're going to Go Wild! My sister and I went to "Planaheim" a few years ago and had the best time. It was easy because we live in L.A., though. Hopefully we'll get another West Coast Go Wild again! Have fun!
Hey hey this was awesome. I saw the pikes peak writers workshop had an editor I worked with James Persichetti Your gonna be busy. Love the ideas and motivation. Keep rockin Sarra you got this!!!
Yay! I'm also starting my serial for Ream during Camp. :) I'll be working on that in the mornings while I edit another project in the afternoons. I'm very interested in any videos you plan to make about how your plot and write a serial. I've got the Million Reads serial course and Kimboo York's book, too. My high Input and Learner are ready to soak it all in! 🧽 Thank you for the Camp Nano workbook. Another great free resource! You'e so generous with your time and knowledge,💖 Can't wait for your Ream to go live!🎉
Nowadays, there are meal delivery kits and grocery delivery available, but I am not sure if they are really worth it. You essentially have to pay for the food, labor costs, delivery fees, taxes and tips. The alternative is to buy one of those supermarket ready-made meals. However, the ready-made meals may be high in sodium, loaded with meats and not that many vegetables.
Hi Sarra!! I've been religiously watching your videos for a while now, and this couldn't come at a better time!! I've been watching you since October, I won Nano for the first time ever thanks to your workbooks and videos, I have been able to focus so much more on my works and I'm gonna attempt Camp Nano this year too!! I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for everything that you do!!!💛💛💛 Also, good luck everyone for Camp, hope you guys will be alright, you're gonna crush it!!!❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I really love the daily planner and weekly wrap up pages. That's something i think I'd like to incorporate into my writing, maybe even continuing after camp ends.
I have to admit that with all the information slipped in through your videos, I'm very curious about this book. It sounds like something I could read on a daily basis. I can't wait to discover it. 🤗 For this month of April, my goal will be 10000 words with no fixed project. I've got a whole bunch of texts lying around in my drawers and lately I've been having fun adding to them with no publication in mind, just writing and enjoying myself. If I reach this goal, I'll be very happy to see that I'm able to strike a little balance between my work, which takes up a lot of my time and energy, and my writing.
I'm wishing you the best of luck getting TDoVS finished! I'm also trying to finish a draft by April 1st so I can move to the next one for Camp Nano. I've been going through P&T and HB90 this round and your lessons have given me so much more confidence than I had before, I just may have my first novel published by this time next year!
Absolutely love hearing folk talking about starting a subscription, especially with Ream (I am a founding author) as it such an amazing platform. Good luck on getting your book finished and getting started with the serial!
My name is Melissa and I am in my mid 40s . I just started my first book and have 2 pages written in my rough draft. I love the anime delicious in dungeon. I have always loved coasters since I was a child
OMG I got the Alpha from backing too and it's just sitting there waiting while I edit the current novel, too! Cannot WAIT to draft a new book on my new Alpha. Also, I've heard that people can replace the keycaps for all the alphanumeric keys on the FW Alpha. I might be doing that.
Love watching your videos. Blogger here but wanting to write a serial for the first time! Your videos are amazing. And I love all your planner stuff. HP addict here. Hoping to get to meet you at Go wild! Will you have a table or meet up?
No table since this is my first year and I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed tbh! But I am going to at least try to arrange a meetup if there's time.
i have a remarkable and I download your pdf and then put the pdf on my remarkable so I can write on the digital version of this / its not in a pretty color or anything, but I've used like light gray for highlights to emphasize some things. I love it! thanks for this resource
Hi! I’m new to your community. I am a first time author finishing up my first book but probably have a long way to go. I am really excited to learn any tips from you.
Yes, I'm going to give them the full structure. A lot of them are used to it from my Sacrifice Me series, so I think they'll understand it pretty quickly and hopefully be into it!
I'll be working through KM Weiland's Character Arc workbook to get myself ready for a draft in Camp July. I'm pumped! Happy writing or brainstorming to everyone. ⏳️🎬🖥💻📗📖📚
Would love a Hearties meet up! I live close to Dallas, but Go Wild is just a little out of my teacher's budget 😅 However, I can get to Dallas/Arlington for a Hearties meet up!!
Hi Sarra! I wanted to congratulate with you about your writing of this standalone, you have so much strength! Tis will be the first book I am going to read, I'm excited about it, but take your time and don't force yourself or stress. Take care of yourself. How many words The Disappearance of Vaanessa Shaw has? I'm curious.
FYI for people who like digital, I've used one of Sarra's workbooks on my ReMarkable and it worked great, maybe it would also work on the Kindle Scribe?
Thank you for creating the planner. I've been waiting and looking forward to having one for Camp NaNo. I like a Sunday start for my weeks . I'm going to print out one week whiteout the dates and the days of the week then copy it, so I can have my Sunday start.
Printing my workbook right now. Thanks so much. I have editing deadlines on the 18th and one on the 28th (both April) so I think I'm going to use this to start Monday and do my own "camp" to make sure I get both done. Thanks so much, Sarra! You are a true gift. I just finished Q2 HB90 bootcamp again, and I'm about to finalize my Your Path Forward!
That is so funny and I am so glad you said that was your kids playing ball because my kids are out...Im thinking its my dog banging in his house and then when you said it was your kids, I looked out the window and there he is sitting out in the yard😂 good as gold peaceful in the sun😘So thank you for making sure I don't yell at my dog
my plans for April had been to continue with drafting my story Space Dragons which I started at the beginning of this month, but I started to feel so burnt out on that after finishing the first act since it's so much bigger of a scope than I've ever written before. instead, I'm going to draft a much smaller story that is quite self indulgent and I'm thinking I'll try handwriting it because I've never done that for a first draft.
Just remember kids, in order to be a writer, you need to write. That's it. Doesnt matter on what device. Don't get caught in the pointless overconsumption. Long term happiness is not in constantly buying new stuff and productivity tip: don't be throwing spaghetti at a wall. focusing on 2-3 big projects MAX at a time avoids starting a million things BUT never finishing anything.
I don't personally find buying tools to help write pointless, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions! I personally need these tools to get my work done, so I share it for anyone looking for ideas!
I haven't started the subscription yet but I'll post a link when it's live! It will be on the site reamstories.com but it's not an easy site for finding authors unless you have a direct link to their page.
Sorry for the extra comment (but better for YT engagement LOL) but I have a question. When you are plotting out your book, do you have an average number of scenes total for the book, or do you plot out a certain number of scenes per chapter or just let it flow organically and space the chapters out after you have all the scenes plotted?
Good question! I start with an assumption of 48 scenes usually, just based on my average so far. Usually I add a few more but I plan for about 10-12 per section. My books tend to end up 90-100k words
Yes 😂 I like to keep a few things secret while I play with the ideas. But for the most part, I've had ongoing series for so long that everyone knows what's up with those.
@@HeartBreathings 😀 you have so many great ideas. I hope that happens to me after I'm done this book. I feel like I only have one idea but maybe one idea will spawn more
Your new Stalogy is giving me fomo... Or maybe planner envy... ? I tend to use 1 journal for the whole year and this year I decided to switch to an A5 Stalogy that I had trimmed down to 8x4 to fit in a travelers notebook............ And I hate it. I'm 3 months into the year and I'm not enjoying my setup at all. It looks nice but it's just not functional. I thought a fancy cover would cause me to use it more, but instead it's acting as a deterrent to using the journal consistently. Instead I'm reaching for a spiral reporters notebook to scribble down my thoughts. Those notebooks are nice for scribbling notes, but there's only 80 pages in each one, so it's not practical as a journal either.
Oh no! I hate it when something I was looking forward to just doesn't work for me. Maybe just call it quits and start a new one? Or would it bother you too much to have an unfinished one?
@@HeartBreathings lol... After leaving this comment, I immediately went and ordered a new B6 Stalogy from Amazon. It'll be here tomorrow. I'm gonna start a new book for Q2 and put the old one on a shelf. I don't mind having an unfinished book, and I might cut the strings on the binding, remove the unused pages, create new covers, and reassemble them into 4 or 5 smaller books.
We need more music man, i don’t understand how someone like yall aren't a mainstream artist. You sound better than 90% of artist. And your writing skills is impeccable!!

You are so sweet thank you Melissa!
Thank you for a nice long Saturday morning video to launch the weekend. 🌷🌷🌷
🍒🙌
I'm feeling very unmotivated so far this year. I'm hoping camp NaNo gives me a creativity boost.
I hope so too!
I am going to try to write every day in April and this is the 2nd day.
Im going to PPWC!!! Its going to be ao fun! Also loved how you were playing with filming angles in this vid 😸
It is! Are you dressing up for the 20's party? I need to find a dress haha. Excited to see you there!
😂
my plans for April had been to continue with drafting my story Space Dragons which I started at the beginning of this month, but I started to feel so burnt out on that after finishing the first act since it's so much bigger of a scope than I've ever written before. instead, I'm going to draft a much smaller story that is quite self indulgent and I'm thinking I'll try handwriting it because I've never done that for a first draft.
I feel this ! It's so awesome to stretch and grow as a writer but it's also so hard! Enjoy your fun story!
OMGGG havent watch it all yet...but i love your haaattt, where did u get it????
Tokidoki!
I also have a story on Ream! I'll look you up!
So fun! I don't have anything up yet, but hopefully next month!
Just remember kids, in order to be a writer, you need to write. That's it. Doesnt matter on what device. Don't get caught in the pointless overconsumption. Long term happiness is not in constantly buying new stuff
and productivity tip: don't be throwing spaghetti at a wall. focusing on 2-3 big projects MAX at a time avoids starting a million things BUT never finishing anything.
I don't personally find buying tools to help write pointless, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions! I personally need these tools to get my work done, so I share it for anyone looking for ideas!
Setting aside Camp NaNo, think about this. We're heading into April. It's already Q2! Time is passing by so quickly!
Right? I can't believe it!
Can I get a link to the website you will be posting your serial on please? I love your videos and they have been inspiring me.
I haven't started the subscription yet but I'll post a link when it's live! It will be on the site reamstories.com but it's not an easy site for finding authors unless you have a direct link to their page.
@@HeartBreathings Okay thank you.
Does anyone else sing the intro song to themselves while watching Sarra's videos? Just me? Ok lol
♥️
Doo do do do do do do do doo doo doooooo!
hi please make a video on reset
Hi! The next reset video will be my 90 day reset coming up!
I may have missed it but what are you using to write your stories, plot etc ?
Hey! Do you mean what software? Or what plotting method?
Sorry for the extra comment (but better for YT engagement LOL) but I have a question. When you are plotting out your book, do you have an average number of scenes total for the book, or do you plot out a certain number of scenes per chapter or just let it flow organically and space the chapters out after you have all the scenes plotted?
Good question! I start with an assumption of 48 scenes usually, just based on my average so far. Usually I add a few more but I plan for about 10-12 per section. My books tend to end up 90-100k words
Thanks so much! Very helpful!
Good morning Sarra, I just started the vid and have a question. Do you have stories that you are not disclosing to keep the public pressure off?
