I am a native Phoenician and probably old enough to be your grandmother. Just a little advise. Carry a small beverage cooler with room for a few water bottles in your vehicle. Phx. is hot, hot, really hot in the summer. People get dehydrated quickly here. Wouldn't hurt to have a hat or umbrella in the car in case of car trouble. Loose light colored cotton clothing is comfortable in summer. If you decide to go north into the mountains, take a coat or jacket. Temperature change is pretty diverse. The Phx.Zoo and Desert Botanical Gardens are close together and a great way to spend the day. Good luck to you, young lady!
She's from chicago and she drove threw flagstaff while it was snowing I'm pretty sure she has a few coats
@@justintaylor4479 I realize that. What I was trying to point out when it's hot in the valley it's easy to overlook that it may be colder up north. A friend and I decided to do a day trip up north when we were teenagers and didn't take coats with us. It was really effing cold in Flagstaff. Does that make a little more sense?

Just did this drive from Maryland it took 2days (that’s including stops). I drove a 16ft truck with my car attached. Anyone thinking of doing this I say go for it! It’s beautiful here.

Welcome to Phoenix! Arrowhead Mall is right up the street (westbound) from that Starbucks/Chipotle you love so much. It's a pretty nice mall and there are a lot of nice restaurants at P83 (W. Bell and 83rd Ave.)
Moving to another state seems so overwhelming. Props to you for just doing it and making it look so simple.

I’ve done this trip 2 times myself from Chicagoland. Just moved back to Phoenix area from the Chicagoland burbs last week. Also lived out here from 13-18 then went back to Chicagoland to help out my sister in her trying times. We were there a lot longer than we hoped and then COVID hit and prolonged our stay there. So glad to be out of Illinois.
Congrats, July will be my 3rd year living in Phoenix. I love it here. I moved here with no family but I meet some amazing through work.

I will be driving with a 20 pound bad cat lol Ole well like my mom always tell me you have more years behind you then in front of you! I took this leap of faith!

Again welcome and there are homeless people here. They are all over but mostly by the freeways. There is also a very bad areas in the Phx area. There are tons of places to go hiking.
In the summertime we do a lot of movies to be inside and swimming. So you decided Tempe known as college town. I like it there too.

Make sure you have water when you are hiking and make sure you don't hike in the summer months which is April - November. Look at Big Super channel he will,school you on what to expect in Phoenix.

I was just in Phoenix last wk with family but there was wayyy too much going on for me to apt hunt so I just looked at a daycare & decided that I’ll visit in June (by myself) & do the apt hunting then. I think 3 days should be enough time, plus I already have all the places down I want to see. My flight is booked & I can’t wait!!😝😝😝😝😎😎

You have to be careful if you pay for electricity.... Because running the AC 24/7 can get pricey every month....
@@weejay619 That's true. Buit other things are less expensive. Gasoline is about a dollar less per gallon than California. Property tax is low. And you don't need AC for half the year.

Honestly no. I kept it simple put fresh litter in his normal box for the drive it worked out!

I'm moving to Phoenix from Tampa and am very nervous. I'm ready for a change. I make in the lower 6 figures which is big in Tampa being that the workforce doesn't offer high salaries. In with the government in management. I also have an MBA and am in my Doctoral Program. I have saved a little over 100k. I'm not a lavish person and am fine with renting for now. I want a 2b 2b apartment no more that 1400k in a decent area. Am I reaching for the stars? Would I need to take more time in Tampa to find a job first? I wild normally never move without a job. But I'm so over Tampa and my job! What do you think?

How did you deal with the cat on this trip? Where was the litter box in the car?
Oh man, Prince was going crazy the entire time. He was really scared and couldn’t sit still but also had no room to move around. We just cuddled him as much as possible. Fed him on my lap. The litter box was on the back seat under a bunch of boxes so I actually had to get out of the car, open the side door and set him in the litter. BUT again he was too scared to go so he held it the entire time 😢☹️ we felt so bad!
@@lashere That's what I'm afraid of. I've got two and if I end up moving out there it would likely be in a UHaul so there is no backseat. And one of mine is very vocal in his dislike for car rides to the vet so that will be my soundtrack for 1400 miles.
