I've watched all the episodes and I didn't expect Zuko's actor to become by far my favorite of all the cast. He did a great job.

Kyoshi kicking all those fire-nation-butts was by far the best action scene of the series, and one of the GOOD changes that Netflix did.

It was cool, but at the expense of getting rid of Roku almost entirely... not cool.

Sometimes he'll be comedic-relief and stupid😂
Other times he can really be serious, sarcastic, and is usually the "plan guy" (leader of the group)
Like that time he didnt take shit from those stoners in "SECRET TUNNEL"😂
But yeah he's always had that "I'm in charge" behaviour and always comes through for team Avatar. Especially end of szn 1 and in szn 2. So I think they;re also taking that into consideration and not make him a 1 DIMENTIONAL character.
I like the balance between comedic relief and the seriousness of Sokka's character as a whole in both adaptations🔥
I know that everyone’s been going insane about Maria Zhang as Suki for a while now, and rightfully so because she’s beautiful! But, for her first major acting role, she nailed her performance as Suki! She’s a strong, badass warrior that fears neither death nor pain. However, she’s beautiful and not afraid to be vulnerable. Hell, Maria’s performance reminds me of how Miranda Otto handled the role of Eowyn in LOTR. So, that’s a major win in my book! Bravo Maria! 👏🏻 Bravo!!👏🏻👏🏻
Also, speaking of which, the Fire Nation soldiers look as ferocious as the Uruk-Hai from LOTR! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 The costume team really cooked with the armor designs!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Ken Leung’s Commander Zhao isn’t as aggressively angry as the OG, but I feel like this calculated version makes him all the more scary as a villain.
Dear God I am really thankful that you created Maple and Arianna because when they sit together for a reaction it's just...its the best thing in the world.

Love your take on the reactions. You resonate as fans but being reasonable about that a live-action will always have to be different from the cartoon.

Maria Zhang (Suki) is just ..WOW! I know I am more than twice her age. I know I am much more of an "Uncle Iroh" than a "Sokka". But I can still appreciate WOW when I see it. 😁👍🏾✌🏾

I love how they took 3-4 episodes into 1 (water scroll, kyoshi island, zhao introduction, kyoshi meeting aang instead of Roku) but at the same time altered the story but yet kept significant easter eggs and main points. Its kind of like how the walking dead tv series was slightly different than the way the story was told in the comics but initially had a similar story
It makes it feel extremely rushed is my main complaint.... without watching the OG show I'd have no idea what's actually going on or why certain things have happened
@dangerousdylan6262 I think if you go in expecting it to be identical to the original, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I think it does okay. My parents are able to understand it. They were trying to piece together how long Aang was in the iceberg, but the writing made it very obvious to the viewers to explain how long he was in ice. At the same I relate it to other things too. The marvel movies are not exactly likee the comic. The walking dead tv show is not exactly like the comic version. I do feel that the original cartoon rushed things too in some ways. Aangs final avatar state form against Oazi was just a simple ball with the elements as rings. What I wanted back then was to see Aang bend all elements in separate directions like Roku did but directed at Ozai, hitting him from 4 different directions all at once. Leaving out certain episodes, too, like the pirate water scroll was okay I think, because the pirates don't really contribute much. If you look at Infinity War, they actually cut about 40 minutes of Zander getting disseminated. It wasn't really necessary to show it when it could be summarized in a few lines. I think the neflix version of Avatar did that well with the water scroll. How katara gets the scroll doesn't really do much other than show she has it. If they included the pirates, it would have been an extra episode showing them running from an enemy that they would never see again. I think combining ideas works well, considering they were trying to go for a more serious tone

- You know what cracks me up? This Sokka looks like the actor "Sokka" in the Fire Nation who was in that play making fun of the Gaang. 😆
- I'm not crazy about this Zhao's emoting. The cartoon version was more intense. But I guess they're playing a more duplicitous version, less of an in-your-face jerk.
- Damn, Kyoshi! That flight was definitely even more powerful than the flight we saw in series. Yowza!
- Not crazy about only being able to speak to past lives at their shrines. What's that about?

I feel they made a good choice with Sokka’s characterization in the live action. He and Katara are meant to be closer in age in the cartoon, whereas he’s clearly much older in the show. Her being more meek and reserved around her big brother makes more sense. Especially considering how more authoritative and confident he is in the live action.

People are up in arms because Sokka isn't the totally goofy comic relief. The thing is in live action media he'd be too goofy. He'd get on everyone's nerves as it would be over the top.
The actor is playing him very well. Aang needs to slow his speaking, and Katara needs better lines and way more emotion.
I love Suki's staring, if it doesn't make you realize, she isn't used to seeing male warriors from the outside world and......
I rather like this version of Suki. She was a bit flat in the original episode and didn't become an interesting character until returning in Book 2. Here she's still very capable, but believably sheltered, and it's funny to me that her idea of flirting is to kick homeboy's ass. 😂
It’s not too obvious in the first two episodes, but if they had just cut out about 50% of the exposition and had them actually work as a team the show would gotten much more positive reviews
They can still do the pirates. How was katara learning waterbending in the cartoon? She just knew, yet had no training. Showing that she has a basic scroll at least. And having her skills grow with the show. The scroll from the pirates was an advanced waterbending scroll anyway.
They were able to find a grogeous kyoshi warrior for sukki, but they couldn't find the same for the moon spirit goddess.🤔
Suki and kyoshi was probably the peak for the series. Went downhill with Mai and Azula (she does a really poor job of acting crazy).
