Like most good mechanics say there's nothing like experience ! The bushings will prevent the heads from walking around and help maintain proper torque on the heads ! Good content ! Best Wishes and Good Luck. 🇺🇲🇵🇷🦊👍

I know it's a bit late for you but I bought a Comp Cams 5337 valve spring compressor and it's 10/10 awesome for this, including doing valve stem seals (or spring replacement) with the heads on the engine. Does 2 at a time with tons of room for putting the keepers in and taking them out, super stable so you can take your time if you want.
Says it's for GM, but the stud spacing is flexible on it and fits SBF too. I used that for my E7 heads and will be using it on my X302 heads too.

Nice! I saw those when I was looking but didn’t want to spend a lot of cash on the tool, not sure when I’ll be doing this again. Too bad the parts stores don’t have them available for rental. Hate to buy a tool to use a few times in a lifetime haha.

@@PeakPerformanceEngineering The other way to do it is with a cut up 3/4" open end wrench. They're tool steel so cutting and drilling them is about as fun as it sounds, but you can make your own for the price of an old wrench, a nut and a bolt. And a piece of cardboard to protect the (cover) gasket surface of the head. Lets you do the job with the heads on the motor, too.

Wonder if those 202 valves will jive with the pistons?

I hope so :) it rotates over fine, but we’ll have to see how it runs.
When I was researching the heads (I picked them up used) I didn’t see anywhere where guys had problems or had to notch pistons or anything so fingers crosses
