@Leighton Knight it's one of the better! Won't say best at this time but I've had about 8 vehicles now but it still ranks in the top 3. I leased a 2019 S60 and I would say that was probably the best, followed by a 2013 Focus ST, then the 2004 S60
This s80 beginning in 2007 has a higher safety rating than every new car per IIHS and Euronap and has better Small overlap crash test results than all new Cars especially Tesla.... Amazing
For its price, and especially for its time (2009), it was a crazy good bargain! $40,000 could get you a powerful Turbocharged 6 cylinder, AWD, next-gen safety equipment, comfortable seating, and way more. It was so revolutionary then that it still doesn't feel old at all in 2018. Heck, the 2009 model even has Bluetooth! Sure, you could have shelled out $20,000 more for an S-class, but what would you really get? Better suspension?
@Hollywoodpedo1 you have to proud, Because I have already bought an s80 1.6 D , its engineering and quality is absolutely incrediable. high quality and low fuel with low emission. there is very less company as volvo in the world. get it back from the chinies...
I feel you bro. I too feel the same way (about the Ford thing). It ruined their value and realability. That's why you don't see them anymore like in the old days. But they're swedish again. Let's see what happens. =D
Volvo was purchased by an obscure Chinese company called Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. They're still built in Torslanda, Sweden though. TATA Motors bought Jaguar Land Rover. Most BRIC nation companies buy these upscale car companies for they're technology and prestige. They have no interest in moving production to where they're based.
never seen a swedish people before, and how they talk & act, cause im very impressed with the only strong brand like volvo they have high gas mileage, rust free, reliability, durability but not so as the new one!! i salute those volvo creator and their engineer!! but i still can't understand why volvo sell their division to ford?!?!?! they ruin such a good brand!!
hello friends i just bought a 2011 S80 in kuwait and im unhappy to say that this machine nearly killed me, ,the engines shuts at 60 kilometer per hour and had a terrifying experience struggling for my life,,,,,, it only did 5000 kilometer dont buy volvo I HOPE VOLVO SEES this because its safe to say that ITs no longer safe.........
djkasdjkasdjdjdj Had mine since December last year so had mine now 7 months never had any problems with mine as long as it serviced regular you shouldn't have a problem
I know some people which are simply tired of all the problems with their German "premium" cars. They own a Volvo now and are unbelievable happy with that brilliant car! And just one more thing: check small overlap crash tests. The German cars are loosing against the Volvo. The Swedish guys still built the safest cars which you can buy!
This is the best car that my husband and I have ever owned. We purchased it used four years ago, and we now have 85,000 miles on it. We have literally done nothing but breaks, tires, and oil change. There has not been one electrical or mechanical problem, which BMW's are notorious for. Also, you should watch the IIHS cash test videos for all of the above named cars... I am amazed every time I see the S80's overlap test. The rear end does not fish-tail at all. The car keeps moving in the direction of travel with minimal cabin intrusion. I cannot say the same for the BMW, MB, or Audi.
zhammmy Because having money does not mean having good taste. Buying a car is a personal gift, and not have to have, to demonstrate to others that you can buy something from a particular brand because it has good propaganda. Volvo is Volvo.... and the rest is rest. Greetings from Uruguay !!!
So, people who paid the same amount of money buying Volvos instead of buying Audi, BMW, MB have better "taste"? How's it logical? Why not just get a Yugo?
volvo wiil be chinisse but nothng will change about the factories and stuff !!volvo never be a low-quality manufacture...!china is only about the money ...

a real piece of shit. My buddy owns a 2007, lots of problems. Battery exploded, caught on fire $3,000. damage. He's had nothing but problems. One thing after the other. Bad placement of wiring harness, gets wet and corrodes

R those people really swedish??
Guys at Volvo, what makes you think you can make the buyers to buy your cars and not from the big 3(Audi, BMW, MB) from Germany?
