There is a kelp gel moisturiser that is made in Northern Ireland that you can mix up with Nivea Q10 and make Creme de La Mer. Used to use this on my child's eczema and it worked a treat.

I study Chemistry and attending Pharmacy school and we learn how to mix and formulate the products. I love to read and see the ingredients of any products. I always tell people who’s worried about cosmetic ingredients too much like this is bad! and that’s bad.. Oh girl please! Drinking alcohol and smoking are way more dangerous than putting 0.1g of cosmetic products approved by FDA. Some skincare influencers who talk about ingredients with lack of Scientific knowledge should not educate people. La Mer is very expensive and overpriced. However, they put one of the highest quality of ingredients with very expensive laboratory to create the products in order to have best quality. Think like a Chanel bag is expensive but why people are buying it? While you can buy a $50 in Amazon’s purse instead of a $5000 at Chanel’s ;)

I’m naturally sceptical about products with an excessive price tag, but as a native french speaker, when they have a fancy french name without being from a french company, it earns a side-eye from me. I see what you’re doing, product.
That's also a pet peeve of mine. The use of French to made things look or sound fancy is snobbish and I find it insulting. Not a tribute but more of a "positive" ridiculing of our language.
The first time I heard about this brand, as a French person, I thought that this was probably BS brand that tries to sound French. La Mer sounds so weird, (as weird as calling a brand "The Sea".) La mer also sounds like "La merde", pronounce the same with a "D" sound at the end, which literally means, the SHIT/POOP! No French would call a brand like this because of the risk of play on words...
It's shit product, actually 😁 contains mineral oil and petrolatum, toxic for the skin.. these are main ingredients. So , basically fancy nivea for useful idiots.
my daughter was having the worst episode of eczema and bacteria infection outbreak and i tried every single cream on earth including those super expensive tubes from doctors and nothing works. her face got so sensitive and i couldnt even see a patch of 'proper' skin left on her face, she was covered in cracks and rashes its so painful to see. in the end i tried la mer on her face and in few hours her skin looks less angry, so i continued putting it on her face for the next few days it actually cleared her skin out.. i was amazed!! By the way she's only 2 years old so initially i didnt think of using la mer on her.
Wow I did exactly the same with my 10 years old son and it actually worked, now I’m saving that cream for his breakout 😅 Good to learn from Cassandra though so I’m happy to try a new cream
I hate when people think that just because skincare products are expensive that they are better all the time. (Not talking abt this product, I haven’t finished the video yet)
You're absolutely right I mostly use Cerave and Korean products and I don't have any product that cost more than 15$ And let me tell you, everyone asks me how my skin is so clear No it's not genetics because I used to have really shitty skin I've calculated all my products and how long they last me and I pay 12$ every month for a whole skincare routine I know alot of girls who spend like 50$ every month and their skin doesn't even look ok
@@emi6416 A tip: wait on sales to get korean products But if you cannot wait You can get some simple products Like the cerave lotion that has more than 400ml lasts me for a year and it costs 12$ La roche posay cleanser that has 400ml also lasts me for a year and costs the same Divide that into 12 months Every month I pay 2$ for a moisturizer and a cleanser Add a good sunscreen Korean ones cost around 10-13$ and last your for 2-3 months (btw I use one gram of sunscreen everyday so I'm not trying to make it last or whatever) Divide that and it'll be around 4$ every month Add treatments: For example the niacinimaide serum from the ordinary is the bomb and it costs 6$ It's going to last you for 2-2,5 months (every morning use it once) This is around 2,5$ You can add an exfoliant for example the Paula's Choice bha 2%, which is very expensive but it's so stromg that you don't need more than 1-2 times a week It's going to last you around 6 months Divide 30$ into 6 months Your monthly payment would be 13,5$ every month and you have a very good skincare routine I have done this for the last 2 years and now I'm updating to korean skincare because it's the BEST But, I wait on sales For example Stylevana had a 70% off of their make prem sunscreens which has 200ml!! They also had alot of sales so I bought alot of things and I only paid 25$ (I bought like really alot of things)
@@emi6416 with me using the things I got on sales I would be paying less than 10$ for very, very good products Just try to shop in a smart way and remember, the best skincare routine is very simple No need for any luxurious products that cost 50$
Years ago, before Dr Drey and before I “turned and learned”, I would spend hundreds of dollars on the little green jar eye cream. Jars and jars of it. It irritated my eyes....snd I thought it was just the product working! That’s why my eyes hurt snd my skin was red, bf I figured the miracle broth was doing it’s thing. I was a fool. I will say though, it felt nice to add this really fancy thing to my skin care regimen. You, Hyram and Dr Drey changed my life through your videos. I found some amazing products that have completely changed my skin. And given me more confidence to look people in the eye when I speak to them. So thank you for all your hard work. You’ve helped changed my skin and given me more confidence in my life.
My skin has been flawless for the past year..... since I started singing every day to my tin of Nivea (the German formulation, of course... so I sing in German)
La Mer is the Emperor's new clothes of skin care. Even if I had that amount of money, after listening to you and the other legitimate skin care experts and well educated enthusiasts, I can now make more informed and cost effective choices. THANK YOU to you and Hyram and James Welsh!!
Honestly why are people so obsessed with celebrities skincare habits, they look young an beautiful because of lighting, editing, make up and great genetics. Not because of what they do to their skins, clearly the go to bed with me series made this clear, they don't know what they are doing for the most part.
Because of associated glamour. They think if they use the same stuff, they will somehow glean a fraction of the celeb's beauty and glamour, or at least earn bragging points. It's just how humans tend to be psychologically, there is a great tendency to magical thinking. It is hilarious that people even think celebs have much better skin than normal people, often they DON'T. But pro MUAs, amazing lighting and professional image altering are involved with all of the interaction we have with them, unless we actually run into them IRL, which few of us will ever do.
@@Ke1ko7 in Portugal. It's really common to go to the esthetician. Not so much derms so they always are available and aren't as expensive as in other places. Also you can get tretinoin at the counter, most pharmacist don't care, they tell you don't go in the sun and that's it.

I’m fully aware of the ingredients list. I stay away from a lot of those ingredients in my skincare. But no matter how much I try to deny it, the la Mer foundation is the absolute best foundation I have ever used. Nothing makes my skin look as good as that does. I don’t use the la Mer skincare, and have no intention to, but once I was given a sample of the foundation... I haven’t looked back. People try to shame me all the time for liking it. They call me stupid, or blind, or whatever else. Many of these people who ridicule me for loving it, have never even tried it for themselves.
@@FreeInvestingAdvicepeople are stupid and envious that they don t have the money to buy la mer products Which is nobody s problem and who give a fuck?! Just don t buy it 😂
Preservatives can be added to products including fermented ingredients, they are just added in smaller amount, as the ferments also preserve. I love La Mers way of making a multiuse product that you can use all over your skin with good results. It's worth trying you know. Not so expensive in the end as one product is used in miniscule amounts and replaces also eye, night and body cream. Tested and loved by moi. ✌🏼🤗
Our La Mer brand trainer also told us that after his accident he noticed that the fisherman by the sea in the sun always had thick rough skin everywhere except their hands because always in the water - and that’s why he started studying the kelp properties. I love how the embellished details differ from brand trainers themselves 😂
He's obviously never met a real fisherman. They have working men's hands, rough and in winter, often a mess from the harsh wind and saltwater. I really dislike people who make bullshit up about working class people they've clearly never associated with in their entire lives, and are probably scared of.
Back in 2007 in Selfridges in London doing the rounds of the beauty hall as I'm now on maternity leave, pregnant and bored. I have to admit that I was using Creme de la Mer, BUT and BIG BUT, my cousin was working for MAC at the time and she got a 65% discount off all Lauder companies' products so the £965, the huge jar only cost £340. And it had a two year life from opening and it really did last the whole two years and I was liberal with it too. So it was working out at what £14 per month. And I could use it as an eye cream. So I felt that for how liberally I used it and basically an all in one solution it works out at good value. And those who work on the La Mer stands are expected to use all of their products and buy them at the discounted price too, not free!!! But back to Selfridges and the La Prarie stand. I'm doing the rounds to get the free samples as we've all done and I have an ingredient issue. I'm allergic to cucumbers. Deathly allergic, even as a skincare ingredient, it will cause my skin to blister. And I tell each person at each stand this and make it very clear. They were the stand that didn't bother reading their ingredients and weren't hot on letting me read them as I've been studying cosmetic chemistry for about 20 years as self interest with my autism so know when I'm being sold a pup but also the Latin name for what I'm allergic to etc... And the girl is about to swatch some stuff on my hand and the other older lady comes screaming over going NOOOOOOOOO it has cucumber on it as it touches the back of my hand and my skin starts to hive up. Got a free 60ml of La Mer out of the managers so that I'd not sue because she clearly hadn't read the ingredients after I'd been incredibly specific and didn't understand the ingredients of the products she was hocking to people. This actually drove me to start creating my own serums as I could order the chemicals like HA and Vitamin C and make fresh serums for people basically mixing rose water and glycerin with the targeted ingredients. And as Vitamin C was totally unstable at this point you'd get only a month's supply. My child went to nursery on a local inner city estate behind Kings Cross and I sold to the mums there. It cost me £3 to make including the bottles so I sold it to them for a £5 and the rich people in our building happily paid £20 and thought they were getting a bargain!
I love how you tell us whole back story, marketing and historical evolution of a product, trend, ingredient! Thank you for doing that, I learn so much from all of you doing it online helped my skin when noone else could!
I’ve always wondered!! My aunt used to buy it and give me and my sister facials with it - mega lucky - skincare is such a lovely way to bond. It smells AMAZING. Needless to say I have not had a La Mer pamper session as a frugal adult 🤣
I was gifted a jar of Le Mer (boyfriend at the time wanted to be impressive). I have dry skin and with all the hype about Le Mer (this was when Max Huber was alive and well and marketing it like crazy), I expected results. Nope, my $20 moisturizer was better. He was definitely a marketing genius for sure!
La mer is literally the same as Nivea the blue jar at your local Walgreens or CVS lol 😂 they literally have the same ingredients except for the seaweed. 🤣🤣🤣 for that I would save the rest of my money for a ticket to Bora Bora.
I’ve use dozens of different facial creams, both cheap and expensive ones, almost all the common brands you can think of, even La Pairie ($500+), I stopped exploring until I tried La Mer. I don’t know if it’s worth the price but it feels really good on the face! I’m dying to find a cheaper substitute.
I’ve always wondered about these ridiculously expensive skincare lines-like Sisley-Paris, Dr. Barbara Sturm, Macrene Actives, as well as “la prairie.” Your video was incredibly informative. Please keep up the great dedicated work you do, we’re so appreciative of it. Thank you!💜
So, I am playing Tibetan bowl music in my living room. I am mixing some seaweed into a little jar of Nivea cream and placing it on the speaker. I will then rub my eyes with the mixture. I hope to be rid of my eyeglasses soon.
I totally relate to LaMer 's philosophy. When I apply Peptides, I play Hard Rock music to give them that extra power punch, the antioxidants prefer sexy salsa music and dimmed red lights. I want to incorporate The Ordinary's 30% AHA & 2% BHA and here s my problem, should I play disco music with flashy lights ( maybe this is too much and the acids will freak out ? Or classical music so the acids remain relaxed and wont irritate my skin ? ) Anyone suggestions plzzzzz
All acids need some good "acid rock" like Incense & Peppermint by the Strawberry Alarm Clock. A strobe light & some swirly colors in the background help too.
For $500+, I expect this moisturizer to do my chores, give me a hot shower, prep me a nice cup of jasmine infused green tea with a dash of honey, and tell me they love me every day for the rest of my freaking life!
Stumbled across this, and you. Where the Hell have I been that I've missed you? Brilliant. Helpful. Usually, even with skincare gurus who I like, I do a lot of fast-forwarding. My trigger finger was ready, but you held me with a really charismatic and warm presentation and diligent research. I look forward to playing catch-up in your video library.
For $500 in Brazil I would be you personal esthetician , would make you skin amazing , and deep relaxing massagens every single day you would be so spoiled 🧖💁
I use their range and it has worked wonders on my skin, I'm 34 with kids... My hair might be turning gray and falling out, but my face has zero wrinkles, scars and pimples. I use their original cream, intense eye balm, despite what people say about eye creams, I like their texture and smell.., I have the face mist which is perfect for summer, their lip balm and rejuvenating serum. I have a small jar of the oil which I mix with my moisturiser during winter. Their concentrate is good for my random dry patches I get during hay fever seasons. It is expensive no doubt but it does what I need it to do.
Hi Cassandra! I would be super curious if you tried la mer products for a month just to see what it would be like. I know were all skeptical of them but I think it would be very interesting to see what they would do and if they stand to their claims if tested!
This is a great point. As someone in the industry, I can tell you that it takes skin a full month (at least) to turn over new cells. Also it's a moisturizer, so it's only supposed to do 2 things: hydrate and calm (the seaweed). They only added the anti aging claims wt Estee, who has an even more expensive serum.
Someone should send this video to Kate Hudson who was showing her favorite products and La Mer was one of them, and everyone on her comments was also raving about it.
It's so annoying! Kylie Jenner also uses it before her makeup, I work in LA and a lot of the makeup artists use La Mer as a base. I swear they all think that just because it's expensive it is doing something incredible. If you say anything negative about it people get sooooo offended too. The fragrance in it is atrocious as well.
@@gigikc6503 Dermatologists have said that it's an overpriced regular moisturizer but worse because it has fragrance. This isn't new. But If you like it, awesome. It's your money.
Fascinating, you’re doing so much good, thank you so much for dispelling the myth that we need or should aspire to purchase ridiculously priced items such as this that may not live up to its reputation built on marketing rather than effectiveness, believing they will do everything they claim. It’s a shame that our desperation for a solution or treatments are so overtly exploited
First of all, a jar of La Mer can last for up to nine months. Secondly, my personal experience is that it works exceptionally well. I’ve used La Mer since the 70s and my skin looks amazing. People think I am 20 years younger than I am. Are used to apply it to my children’s sunburn skin and it soothed the pain immediately. It’s very expensive but it does work. I usually get a jar as a Christmas present from my husband and I’m always thrilled.
I wanna hate La Mer...but just bought the whole line for my birthday and started using it and I shit you now my skin looks fucking INCREDIBLE all the time now. I’ll test out replacements as I go along...but can’t argue with my actual results.
As a celebrity make up artist who has used so many brands, I highly agree and I could have the worse skin, and within a day or 2 the texture of my Skin changes and is smoother and brighter along with drinking green juice 3-5 times a week
I agree I am on my second jar..and I love it! I have received several compliments about I look radiant, rested, the feel is softer and smooth. Works for me I'll keep using it.
Do you guys use the original creme de la mer or the soft cream and is there a difference? I heard it might be better to get the original as that is the one that Max Huber actually worked on.
I always thought La Mer was bs in a bottle and full of lies, but the background of the founder and the brand as a whole is extremely interesting. I know their staple Creme de La Mer cream isn’t anything special/overpriced, but I can’t say that if I had the money I wouldn’t want to buy it out of curiosity.
Thank you Cassandra for breaking down the urban myth surrounding La Mer! Can you please review Erno Laszlo skincare created by Dr. Laszlo almost a century ago. He was the progenitor of modern skincare science. I think you'd find the history fascinating too!
La Mer products's price tags are definitely high but every brand has their own clientele. When you buy luxury products for any reason (you have money, you want to show off or whatever), you know for a fact you pay mostly for the marketing/the brand name. If the brands are expensive and the products are bad, they wouldn't have survived for that long. I used La Mer soft cream and that was the only moisturizer that calmed my redness/irritation from tretinoin instantly
Same for me. I use the original LM cream and it’s the only thing that will fix my irritated skin barrier from tret use. I also love the oil. My skin is always glowing the next morning when I use them. Also I don’t know why she says it’s $500, I think a small jar is $90.
You can actually get the fermented seakelp ingredient in a lot of other cheaper (especially Korean brands') products. And Nivea Cream has a very similar ingredient list and texture (both break people out like nothing else). So for a fraction of the price, mix Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule and Nivea cream. (I just use the ampoule.)
My favourite moisturizer is from a small brand called Berrichi. It has furcellaria and astaxanthin in it (both derived from seaweed) and is like 98% natural. Has no fragrance in it either. I have sensitive, rosacea prone skin and my skin LOVES it. I have never tried la mer, but bases on ingredients and even packaging my 35€ cream seems a lot more luxurious lol
The doctor at Osmosis skin care talks about imprinting sound waves into water.... he talks about frequency and different parts of the body. It sounds like a similar process with copper, water, and sound. It would be interesting to hear you do a review and deep dive
I mean, at my aunts yoga studio they do sing mantras to the water and the facial oils they sell and it still costs no more than 15$ so it's not an excuse when you don't even manually do it at LaMer😂
Im 66 a retired bartender and I only make $700 a month social security.. that would be all my money!!! Insane and I’ll keep my grey hair and wrinkles thank you! 😳😳😳❤️
I got a trial size La Mer moisturizer from Sephora, and I’ll admit it made a difference in my skin. But I will never ever ever ever pay that much money for skin care. Especially when the history is so sketchy
I would love to see a video where you test out La Mer products for a week or two. I mean I have no idea if they do anything but it'll be entertaining to see you use them 😂. Thanks for the sk-information!
I got 3 free la mer samples the other day from Facebook. They are nice. But I choked when i later found out each sample is sold for $20 each on their site
Hey, if you had to pay for p&p please check that you haven’t unknowingly signed up for a subscription where you’ll automatically receive further items at a higher price
I believe each one was .12oz Definitely got a few uses out of each :-) For free samples they were generous size. I'd never pay $20 for that amount though. No samples are a few oounces lol... many products come in 1oz containers 😩
Unpopular opinion - I feel I’ve tried everything on the drugstore and high end shelves and.. I LOVE LA MER! The good ingredients are listed mostly first and if you ask any time users there’s a reason they are ‘long term users!’ Nothing will give your bare skin that pearly clear glow la mer gives 🥰
I’ve always wanted to write a book fact checking all the origin stories of these brands!! It’s so crazy how good marketing can really take an unknown product to “cult status.” Ive worked in retail beauty for a decade and still triggered when I hear “miracle broth” 😂
The first time I smelled LaMer, I instantly thought of Nivea! I even did an ingredient comparison because I couldn’t believe the texture/smell similarities haha
I love Creme de LaMer, but not for regular skincare. It helped with my psoriasis/ exzema. Non other creams or doctors could help with some patches of psiorasis which were really bad. A friend of mine have me a tiny sample. And as it is nothing for my oily skin, I put it on my elbows and ankles. It took about two weeks and psiorasis/ exzema was gone. Yes it is overpriced, but it helped me with those issues
I was gifted a jar of La Mer 6 or 7 years ago - my sister-in-law worked for Estee Lauder at the time and she got a couple jars in her company Christmas package. She has sensitive skin that doesn't tolerate the stuff, so she gave it to me. I really loved it and at the time I had not yet learned to properly moisturize my skin, so this stuff helped a lot and literally took like 5 years off my face in about a month and a half of using it. No way I could afford to buy more, so I looked for less expensive creams that were richly moisturizing; I ended up using L'Occitane's shea face cream up until last year. These days it's too greasy for my skin; now I've discovered CeraVe and I LOVE that shit. It does everything I need. So I went from a €180 moisturizer, to a €30 one, to one that costs about €15 for a massive tub that I probably won't be able to use up before it gets too old. Go figure. I also started using a lot of The Ordinary last year, and good God, my skin looks and feels amazing now. Nobody believes I'm 40.
@@archiegaming525 i think it's just called moisturizing creme, I'd have to check. It's not the face-specific one, just the standard one you can use all over.
I ordered the moisturizer for 500 I can't wait for it to arrive. I love my cle de peau cleansing cream oil and softening cleansing foam. And the molton brown orange&bergamot shower gel is divine.
I am sitting here with two lamer products on my face, I can either believe your bs or look at my face which after just one application looks amazing. I’ve been using these products on and off for 15 years nothing comes close. Trash it all you like , the product has stood the test of time for a reason.
She never said the product itself sucked and surely didn’t „trash“ it.. she said, based on the ingredients, it wasn’t worth 2000$. Also, she simply stated the facts about the brands story. That’s it. She didn’t attack you or anyone who uses the brand personally at all.
Thank you so much for speaking out about this! I just wanted to add to the conversation that La Mer and other brands like it that make false, extravagant claims don't just manipulate rich people, but also people with skin conditions who are desperate to have good skin. I have struggled with severe eczema for most of my life and I was tempted to buy La Mer because of the false claims that it can miraculously heal burns, wounds, etc. and the extremely high price point, which is not at all something I can afford made me believe that it must be worth it. I never ended up buying it, but felt like I was missing out. Thanks for all you do Cassandra. ❤️
If you want to try it they sell a smaller size now which is like $90 and some people say they have had amazing results. Also you only need a tiny amount so it lasts a long time.
I got into La Mer after trying all $ ranges of moisturizers for years for my sensitive skin and the soft cream is the best thing I have ever tried, I do see skin healing is faster, it got rid of rosacea and dermatitis and skin feels actually so hydrated. I understand the price objections but I feel its like pointing out how all of the ingredients of a dish in a fancy restaurant are actually so cheap?. Despite the weird "magical" treatment, it IS a great product that has been able to give me what many others haven't. And people keep coming back because it works. I honestly recommend you trying it :)
I have had problematic skin my whole life. I was to the point where I hated looking at myself in mirrors up close and I refused to do my makeup in brightly lit rooms. I would never, ever go to have a makeover in a department store and forget going to any event in bright daylight or florescent lighting. I was also suffering from adult acne, uneven skin tones, large pores, and any other skin condition you can think of. I just had horrible skin. I decided to try La Mer. My skin has never been more beautiful. Sometimes, I actually refuse to put on face makeup because I don't want to ruin the beautiful, natural, even glow my skin now has. I also have NO wrinkles. Like none. I just turned 40 and no one believes I'm 40. I get told all the time and that people think I'm still in my late 20s. I don't know if the skin gods finally took pity on me or if LA Mer is actually a miracle brand but I will never use anything else again. You couldn't pay me to change my mind. No amount would be worth the confidence I feel now in my skin and the fact that I can look at myself in a mirror and not want to cry. I can actually look people in the eye and not feel embarrassed because I know they are looking at my face.
La Mer was scientically created by a physicist after he burned his face. When he died his daughter sold the business to Este Lauder who went to the lab at his home and realised that the ingredients had indeed been processed using methods that utilise sound as a vibrational mechanism to change the chemistry. We would be ignorant not to recognise that sound has a frequency that interacts with other compounds and changes molecular structures. Take water for instance, there has been research done on sound vibration that creates visual abstract shapes that can be seen and measured purely from vibration. Go check it out. I get that people dont want to pay $400 however, to down right lie to your followers using you influencer clout without doing any proper investigation into the origins of La Mer, is ignorant. At least be objective instead of basing your ideology on opinion alone. It is insincere and irritating at least. Sam the founder, recognised that the molecular function of algae is indeed a live microbioism, and by creating chemical reactions through vibration and sound, he was able to extract the potency from the enzymes. You only have to do your own experiment with apple cider vinegar and bicarbonate soda to see how science works with fermentation. The chemical reaction using this method produces a reaction. This is the same function sound has on various elements. There is a vibrational frequency that can literally burst your eardrum when it reaches a certain level, think about it, (that's a fact) so, sound does indeed affect matter, (both solid and liquid) If you are going to influence people against a product, at least be fair and be respectable to research instead of using social media to proclaim that your opinion trumps facts..... To use your channel to steer people away from an alternative objective analysis is not only bias, but dumb. Chemistry and the relationship between every life form on earth matters!! We sing to our babies to sooth them We listen to feel good music We become emotive to the sound of nature and the sea. All these things produce a response to our own physicality...... And that's because of resonance frequency. To mock the scientific studies relating to the approach to the La Mer product is a little naive of you, so, I suggest if you want to be a truly investigative and authentic influencer, go do some research first!!!!!!! You don't have to like the product, but to diss it because of your own bias, doesn't mean you're correct about the products functionality. That's called bad faith!!!!!!!
Confirmed ingredients even worse than I thought. Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Moisturizer ingredients include: Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sodium Acrylate/Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Dimethylacrylamide Crosspolymer. Interesting. I'm completely agree with everything in this video, but on the other hand, all that being said, there's a fact. La crème de La Mer, it really WORKS. I mean, everyone else who tried it will tell you the same thing, with this cream your skin is immediately beautiful, there's absolutely no other cream to give such results. La Prairie is even much more expensive, and it's pure BS, it doesn't work. La Mer, it works. What's the mystery, I don't know. But there's something.
I have worked for both La Mer and La Prairie and used both as part of my uniform 'Look'. La Prairie changed the look and feel of my skin instantly and it even improved over time. La Mer took much longer, 6 months for me to see any improvement, mainly minimised pores. I cannot afford to buy these products now that I don't have access to staff discount and so am getting equivalent results using a mixture of Inkey List, The Ordinary and Ole Henrikse🥰
I love you so0o much. You have no idea how much you have educated not only me, but I appreciate everything you talk about. I'm proud to say that I'm part of you beautiful butterfly community. Thank you for sharing 💕
It is highly moisturizing and will firm your skin... and may over firm it if used too often... reselting in pronounced wrinkles when you smile... but there is definitely something unique to the formulation!
OMG- I love you. I used to work at textile company where one of my older colleagues in her late 50’s had the Countess Lucienne Von Doz as a client (Max Huber’s alleged muse and model who once dated Frank Sinatra). She apparently is still the recipient of a lifetime supply of La Mer and gave a ton the product over the past 15 years to my colleague. Well... thanks to you and a others that I trust, my own skincare routine has been solid and affordable with accessible ingredients like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, squalane etc... and I ended up having colleagues her age ask me for recommendations on products much to the dismay of the colleague who used La Mer daily and looked like crepe paper. Ingredients don’t lie, nourish your skin barrier, and don’t believe in BS like this miracle broth. Xoxo!
For anyone on a budget, the best bet is Sunscreen + Tretinoin + a drugstore moisturizer like CeraVe + a gentle face wash like Cetaphil or Vanicream. For any other active, there is The Ordinary. I don't understand why people would spend their entire paychecks on something like La Mer. It's astonishing.

Korean skincare in general has been using fermented seaweed in their formulation and doesn't cost as much as La Mer, and yet affordable and works.
There is a kelp gel moisturiser that is made in Northern Ireland that you can mix up with Nivea Q10 and make Creme de La Mer. Used to use this on my child's eczema and it worked a treat.

You're absolutely right
I mostly use Cerave and Korean products and I don't have any product that cost more than 15$
And let me tell you, everyone asks me how my skin is so clear
No it's not genetics because I used to have really shitty skin
I've calculated all my products and how long they last me and I pay 12$ every month for a whole skincare routine
I know alot of girls who spend like 50$ every month and their skin doesn't even look ok
@@ragh9014 how do you only pay 12$ every month for a whole skincare routine? What do you use?!
@@emi6416 Prob because cerave products are huge and can last you for months and korean skincare is usually super cheap aswell.
@@emi6416
A tip: wait on sales to get korean products
But if you cannot wait
You can get some simple products
Like the cerave lotion that has more than 400ml lasts me for a year and it costs 12$
La roche posay cleanser that has 400ml also lasts me for a year and costs the same
Divide that into 12 months
Every month I pay 2$ for a moisturizer and a cleanser
Add a good sunscreen
Korean ones cost around 10-13$ and last your for 2-3 months (btw I use one gram of sunscreen everyday so I'm not trying to make it last or whatever)
Divide that and it'll be around 4$ every month
Add treatments:
For example the niacinimaide serum from the ordinary is the bomb and it costs 6$
It's going to last you for 2-2,5 months (every morning use it once)
This is around 2,5$
You can add an exfoliant for example the Paula's Choice bha 2%, which is very expensive but it's so stromg that you don't need more than 1-2 times a week
It's going to last you around 6 months
Divide 30$ into 6 months
Your monthly payment would be 13,5$ every month and you have a very good skincare routine
I have done this for the last 2 years and now I'm updating to korean skincare because it's the BEST
But, I wait on sales
For example Stylevana had a 70% off of their make prem sunscreens which has 200ml!!
They also had alot of sales so I bought alot of things and I only paid 25$ (I bought like really alot of things)
@@emi6416 with me using the things I got on sales I would be paying less than 10$ for very, very good products
Just try to shop in a smart way and remember, the best skincare routine is very simple
No need for any luxurious products that cost 50$

Honestly why are people so obsessed with celebrities skincare habits, they look young an beautiful because of lighting, editing, make up and great genetics. Not because of what they do to their skins, clearly the go to bed with me series made this clear, they don't know what they are doing for the most part.
They can also afford to go to dermatologists regularly for deep cleansings and extractions etc etc. That's way more help than a product can ever be.
@@nelaor where I live estheticians and derms are not that expensive. But that's a good point as well they get regular treatments by pro.

Same for me. I use the original LM cream and it’s the only thing that will fix my irritated skin barrier from tret use. I also love the oil. My skin is always glowing the next morning when I use them. Also I don’t know why she says it’s $500, I think a small jar is $90.
@@ALT-vz3jn $90 version is a smaller container than $500
So you dont use as regular moisturizer?? Only for calming after tret?
Vaseline is the best thing after tretinoin. Pure Shea butter is good too. Any thick occlusive moisturizer will work but Vaseline is the best occlusive
Vanicream would've done the job and for under 10 dollars. You're sheep 🤣🐑
I love this video! Best NO-BS explanation of product information I have ever heard! Thank you for your candor.
As a la mer consumer I can say I’ve never broken out from it. And I have very sensitive skin
Hi Cassandra, Could you please do a video on Murad?
I live in a NYC apartment. My tap water should probably be magic broth.
Make sure to rub the water in your eyes, lol
😂😂😂😂
Hahahahahaha
😂 actually they replicated NYC water because its behind what makes pizza tastes so good.
A $500 moisturizer better get rid of all imperfections on my skin and make my skin look ten years younger.
As a Canadian I have to say that was the most interesting pronunciation of “Petroleum jelly” I’ve ever heard. Love the video tho.
Petrolatum and petroleum jelly are the same thing but petrolatum is generally what you’ll see on ingredients lists!
@@Sarah-dg6xc I did not know that! I’ve leaned something new!
Eh
I mean, at my aunts yoga studio they do sing mantras to the water and the facial oils they sell and it still costs no more than 15$ so it's not an excuse when you don't even manually do it at LaMer😂
La Merde 😂
@@SunFlower-jr2qh lmao that's a good one 💀💀
This needs more views more people need to see this 😭 thank you for the research you put into this 🥺
La Mer is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used.
I think the right recipe went to the grave. I don’t buy into anything they sell. I tried a sample, broke out. Yeah, totally revolutionary.
Please do ranking celebrities skin care line
Kylie, Jlo, rihinaa, Paris, Madona, milley, Jessica Alba, etc.......
I'll help you out. 0. Next.
@@pinkimietz3243 Came to say the same.
Kylie: walnut scrub
JLo: olive oil
All I need to say. Just because they’re celebrity “created” doesn’t mean it’s good
Miranda Kerr definitely has the best skincare line!!
So if I gurgle my mouthwash near my Olay cream the vibration will turn to a $200.00 cream 😳
😂😂😂
La olay
I never reply to comments but this…this is hilarious
dont forget to flash an led light near it as well.
Thank you for this video! I always walk by the La Mer stand in Sephora with distain and curiosity, now it'll just be distain!
Im 66 a retired bartender and I only make $700 a month social security.. that would be all my money!!! Insane and I’ll keep my grey hair and wrinkles thank you! 😳😳😳❤️
This is crazy AF!! Thanks Cassandra for calling BS where BS needs to be called!✌🏼
I've been waiting so long for this video! Thank you Cassandra!
Please expose LA Prairie and the expensive Growth Factors like skinmedica
La Prarie actually works wonders as well as Sisley!
I got a trial size La Mer moisturizer from Sephora, and I’ll admit it made a difference in my skin. But I will never ever ever ever pay that much money for skin care. Especially when the history is so sketchy
The history is not sketchy at all
Casandra lies
I would love to see a video where you test out La Mer products for a week or two. I mean I have no idea if they do anything but it'll be entertaining to see you use them 😂. Thanks for the sk-information!
I got 3 free la mer samples the other day from Facebook. They are nice. But I choked when i later found out each sample is sold for $20 each on their site
Hey, if you had to pay for p&p please check that you haven’t unknowingly signed up for a subscription where you’ll automatically receive further items at a higher price
@@74griffo thanks, i didn't give them any payment info
😬😬😅 their sample sizes are like at least a few ounces right?
based on the price it should be amazing or incredible not just nice😂😂
I believe each one was .12oz
Definitely got a few uses out of each :-) For free samples they were generous size. I'd never pay $20 for that amount though.
No samples are a few oounces lol... many products come in 1oz containers 😩
How about ‘La Prairie’ products? They are Also expensive 😬
Yes, crazy expensive like la mer. Probably garbage
@Laura Smith really? Lol, like rubbing fish eggs on your face is going to do anything 🤦♀️. These "high end" brands are ridiculous.
@Laura Smith I’m still not impressed with their prices
Unpopular opinion - I feel I’ve tried everything on the drugstore and high end shelves and.. I LOVE LA MER! The good ingredients are listed mostly first and if you ask any time users there’s a reason they are ‘long term users!’ Nothing will give your bare skin that pearly clear glow la mer gives 🥰
yessss love La Mer, everyone should try it before say anything about this cream lol
There is nothing more valuable than a honest person. Thank you so much for your advice. It’s not worth the money👍😘
Please do a video on Caudalie!! I’m a fan of the brand myself but intrigued to know what you think…💕
But it’s not the same…
I love Creme de LaMer, but not for regular skincare.
Which cerave did you use?
@@archiegaming525 i think it's just called moisturizing creme, I'd have to check. It's not the face-specific one, just the standard one you can use all over.
I ordered the moisturizer for 500 I can't wait for it to arrive. I love my cle de peau cleansing cream oil and softening cleansing foam. And the molton brown orange&bergamot shower gel is divine.
this makes me want a series some sort of historical skincare docuseries
I chuckle every time an influencer says "I was not sponsored by this company, they just sent me this product for free..."
Have u tried la prairie white caviar cream? I love it. But it’s like twice more expensive than La mer
Since we’re on the topic of overpriced skincare with French names, you should dive into “La Prairie” next!
@Laura Smith they recently came out with a cream that is 1800euros
@Laura Smith i worked for Guerlain...Orchidee imperiale is the most expensive cream they carry! I cant believe how many woman buy it
Every time I thought the story couldn’t get stranger, it definitely got weirder
Do something on Elemis please!
There is a vibrational frequency that can literally burst your eardrum when it reaches a certain level, think about it, (that's a fact) so, sound does indeed affect matter, (both solid and liquid)
If you are going to influence people against a product, at least be fair and be respectable to research instead of using social media to proclaim that your opinion trumps facts.....
To use your channel to steer people away from an alternative objective analysis is not only bias, but dumb.
Chemistry and the relationship between every life form on earth matters!!
We sing to our babies to sooth them
We listen to feel good music
We become emotive to the sound of nature and the sea.
I would love to hear what’s up with Tatcha, I’m very interested in their origins
I would too. I think they're one of the ones, like Shiseido, that puts acrylic (plastic) in their face creams 😦
Confirmed ingredients even worse than I thought.

Nivea?
@@soomysaleem351 Oh come on. Nivea, that's just butter. Put La Mer on your face, and another day put Nivea, and you will understand the difference.

Read the comments, plenty of people commented that they also used this an didn't like at all and went back to the product they used before.
I honestly love this brand. I had really bad break outs and this fixed my skin.
You are absolutely the best!! I love how you work!!
I will say it absolutely made my eyebrows grow unbelievable fast!
I can’t believe people buy into this bs... physics and psychics for a moisturizer!?!? 🤣🤣🤣
Love you!🖤🖤
OMG- I love you.
