Girl. I had a Monat hair scheme person tell me my hair would grow in thicker post chemo. Really sucks when you prey on those of us that suffered enough. Losing breast tissue was bad enough. But then my hair. And it never grew back to its former thickness and wave. So I was a sucker. Tried it. And omgggg my hair fell out even more then it already had. Now thanks to my Orthopedist who told me to take collagen with peptides for my knee - nice side effect my hair is a tiny bit thicker. It’s called science. And no, my Dr never promised hair growth - just joint improvement and he was right! Knee so better. I still have thin hair. 😂 but I’m alive and well. Thanks to scientific research.

That’s awful 😞 I’m so sorry. Monat made so many people’s hair fall out they ended up in a lawsuit over it. It really pisses me off the way they prey on peoples weaknesses, promising miracles but it’s just a bottle of 💩.
I recently had a shampoo cause a bunch of hair loss, but it was a trusted brand. Biolage, I had used their volume bloom line years ago and didn’t have any negative results from it, although I had short hair at the time (just above my shoulders) so maybe I just didn’t notice. I’ve always had thin straight hair, but now it’s very long. Past my butt. At first I did notice I had more shedding but I thought it was my hair adjusting to a new shampoo, now I wish I had stopped using it right then and there bcuz now my hair is so embarrassingly thin and the split ends are worse than they have ever been from all the breakage while using it. I don’t know if I’ll be able to save it without cutting half of it (or more) off, but I am damn sure going to try! I know split ends have to be cut, so I’ve did trim a good 5-6 inches off. I’ve started using Wella Fusionplex shamooo, conditioner and hair mask. I could feel a difference in my hair while rinsing it out, that same day my husband came home from work walked in and on first glance at me "wow! What did you do to your hair? It looks beautiful! It’s so shiny and smooth" That should tell you everything bcuz this man doesn’t notice when my hair changes shades 🥲 I also picked up the Redken Extreme damage line and their anti-snap treatment, but I’ve been so impressed with Wella I haven’t started using it yet.
Thank you for the collagen and peptide tip! I’ve had problems with my knees for most of my life, as I get older it’s impacted me so negatively. They always hurt, and every winter the pain is worse than the previous year, so for that benefit alone I’ll be picking up some today!

@@kso35 yep. Such a scam!! I will tell you what really helped my hair -just a bit- collagen with peptides. My Orthopedist told me to take it along with Krill oil supplements for a knee issue. Works so so well! I trust my doctor and his advice was spot on. Ask your doctor before taking as I do not know if there are contraindications with any meds one is on etc. I now use Derma E volume and replenishing shampoo and my hair feels a bit thicker. The company doesn’t make any promises of hair growth etc. So far so good. And I love their skin care line.

Years ago I had read a small article stating that Christy Brinkley had been in a NY hospital and had over $100,000 of plastic surgery and of course she looked amazing afterwards. Some time later, I saw Christy on a talk show telling people all she did to look so good was use a scrub with jojoba oil!. I felt so bad for the ladies in small towns that were starting to lose their youthful looks and might be watching and berating themselves for not aging as well as Christy. That's why I think stars should say "hey, I had some work done and that's okay".
I want also point out the ridiculous ads for expensive skin care lines featuring 20 year old models saying "my skin looks so young!" If the product works so well, then show us some results on older skin.
Thank you for all your incredible research and sharing the truth with us!

I remember seeing a picture of Christy in a bikini but it was shown from a distant not up close like Elizabeth Berkley. Soooo frustrating when companies “seem” to miss the memo that a customer has cancelled! 🤯🤬

    • @LizRealGirlBeauty
      @LizRealGirlBeauty 2 года назад +17

I actually had Walmart do third to me this week with photo cards. They hadn't printed them even though they were supposed to have been delivered last week, I did a chat and the customer service person told me point blank the order was canceled. I got the cards from another company and not only shady had received them but already sent them out, then this morning I woke up to an email telling me they'd been printed, shipped and they'd charged me. When I called up the woman told me "there's nothing in the computer that says it was canceled." I had saved the screenshot of the chat where I was told it was, and only when I offered to send it did she agree to refund me my money. I told her to go find the previous person and ask why they didn't do their job, since now they are out the cost of the cards and the shipping, instead of just losing a sale.
It's crazy that a company so large and well known does the same thing little MLMs do, and for other things not just skincare or makeup!

Or they offer a free trial, but put the “you have to return any unused portion” in such fine print that you don’t see it and get charged $68. Curology pulled this on me. Thank goodness I checked my bank account and found it right away. I sent them a threatening message and my money was returned within one hour.

At Sephora, they taught us that feelings sell more products. Get the person to picture them using the product, how it'll be in a week after using the product etc. It's also why (pre-covid) we were also recommended to apply samples to peoples hands as we talk about it. Feelings sell.

Yes thank you for bringing up the shady packaging! I’m always checking products in general for how much I’m getting for my buck, so when I got into skincare I was really shocked at how obscene some of the packaging is! I’m always eyeing those oz/mL though 👀 I’m not paying $40 for 2 oz. in a huge seeming bottle when I could get 4 oz. for $20 from a cheaper company with better ingredients anyways! I hate how shady big, fancy companies can be with their ingredients too! There’s this shop in our mall called like Hermastaise or something and I went on their website to look for ingredients for the sample they gave me and couldn’t find anything but “we have flakes of real gold and bits of real diamond and flakes of real pearl in our products” and I tossed the sample straight to the bin. Their prices were loud and clear though, $200 for 2 oz with no ingredient list in sight? 🤮 no thank you.

To the point where I couldn't wear makeup, and my skin was generally so sensitive and easily irritated. On top of that, it was so difficult to cancel. This reminds me of when I was a little girl, we had these baby doll bottles with fake milk in them. It looked like the bottle was full and as you tipped it, the liquid disappeared. But then there are these strange luxury brands that appear in so many of those boxes but noone has ever heard of them before. They only exist to make the value of the boxes to seem larger. I don't know how much blame can be placed on older generations. Everyone knows "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Kids know how to Google everything, to look into things before they buy, and they know about privacy online. They know to be skeptical. The reason they fall victim to buying all the image lies is because they're young -- we were all susceptible, insecure kids at one point. So I don't think anyone failed the youth when it comes to teaching about these things, but more that image, beauty, and insecurity are many people's weakness, and it's so easy to fall victim to it.

    Hi Cassandra,
I just wanted to thank you for sharing this with us. I am in my thirties and I have been struggling with acne since I was 12yo. Even if I rationally know that most of what you are saying is true, sometimes it is so tempting to believe that there is some magical treatment that is going to make my skin look flawless once and for all. I have really bad acne scars that are quite deep and I don't know if even treatments such as laser, dermabrasion or chemical peeling are going to work for my scars, it is something that has lowered my self esteem a lot, so watching your video, where you show us how even something as basic as lighting can drastically change the way your skin looks, helps me remember that most of what I see is a lie and I shouldn't compare myself to other people on social media. Thanks a lot, it really helps me feel less miserable about my skin!

I love this. Personally I have a question about a skincare type issue. Myself and many others have stretch marks. Mine have long faded but I do not enjoy the texture of them. I know that micro needling is supposed to be helpful for stretch marks. I ran across a procedure basically called inkless tattooing where they tattoo using helpful skin ingredient like vitamin e across your stretch marks. This is supposed to help with collagen production and smoothing. I wondered how effective this would be. I particularly I wondered about the depth of the penetration compared to laser micro needling as a factor. I would love a video discussing if this is a more effective and less costly therapy or just another scam.

I make a whipped body butter with shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil, hempseed oil, vitamin e, aloe vera gel & some essential oils. It's helped to fade deep scars I've had for over 20 yrs. I had 27 stitches in my arm & the scar was numb & shiny & thick. I also had another one on my knee since I was about 7. The only reason I started making my own body butter is because I have allergies to everything & noticed as I got older it got worse. I wanted something natural that wouldn't make my skin itch constantly. It had nothing to do with trying to reduce scars & it really is just an unexpected side effect. I had no idea till the last few months. After about 2 yrs I just realized one day the stitches scars I had were fading. They weren't so thick & the shininess has diminished & it looks more skin like. The numbness is totally gone & the feeling has come back. I also have minimal stretch marks that have also faded. They are still there but don't look so white & shiny & the thicker ones are thinning out. Just so you know I'm not a seller although I will sometimes gift it. It's also such a slow & gradual process I didn't even notice it till 2yrs later. In my experience you CAN reduce scars. I don't like the word "can't" When people tell me " you can't do this...or that" I'm like "Maybe YOU can't" & I will always find a way. Tell me "That's impossible" & my response will always be "Maybe for YOU" & I'll prove them wrong lol. I've been that way since I was a kid. Anyways...I'm not saying it will completely vanish your scars over night lol. I've only been using it for just over 2 yrs. They may always kinda be there...who knows. I didn't start making it for that purpose anyways. Even without that effect it's still the most amazing body butter I've ever used & my friends who have tried it agree. I've wasted a ton of $ in the past falling for similar scams like these. Wasted tons of $ trying to find that one product I wasn't allergic to. Wasted tons of $ buying products to clear up acne that only made it worse. I make several of my own products now besides body butter & they all work way better than anything I've bought in store. I even cleared up my complexion issues with my own face soap. I guess my point is to take your power back & stop wasting your money by learning how to do these things yourself. Of course do your own research & be careful. There is misinformation with everything. Check multiple sources. Also know that some of these ingredients may seem expensive @ first but they are the base for multiple products & will make multiple batches. It will end up saving you hundreds of $$$ in the long run.
