Got to admit, the predacons are probably the only g1 based transformers that I have no problem seeing improved (imo). G1 counterparts were lacking.
@9ine9ine1ne stoopid *I agree with your first assertion about this version of Predaking being stylized....Yes that is correct! However, the rest of what you eluded to is inaccurate. For one, the Transformers known as the Predacons didn't come out in the 70's, nor did they belong to Boomer's ("Millennial"), they belonged to GenX'ers.*
*Also, the designs of yesterday are responsible for what you know and see today for better or worse, so show some respect. G1 is the best all day....Even the 1985 movie is far better than all the Bayformers combined. 80's Forever!*

Ok now we have a Razorclaw that looks like he could go toe to toe with Grimlock. Great review! It’s funny that you check out other videos for transforming references as I have used yours quite a few times.
The beast mode looks like it came straight out of the Zoids franchise.......and I freaking love it!
I thought he meant the power ranger zoids before checking that out, its spot on lol

Seeing Fanstoys Thomas (Astrotrain) there make me want them to do a repaint of it, perhaps a convention exclusive, in the colours of the ACTUAL Thomas The Tank Engine.
You nailed it. The head looks very insecticonny. I bailed on this set after 3 and I don't regret it. The combined mode so far rampage looks like he's from another set. Like razorclaw and divebomb are from the premium metallic version of the set and rampage isn't. Or the latter ones are part of the 'beast hunters' version of the line whereas rampage is from the original prime line with more organic shapes rather than just gonzo spikes everywhere.

Geez, the original five Predacons, Optimus Primal boxers, 2x crab hands and 2x wolf shoes. Now they just the sword and arm cannon to turn into beasts for a total of 12, then we're looking at some Power Ranger Megazord-levels of combining mechs.
I've had pre-ordered for ages. I seriously can't wait to get him in hand!
My collection is more toward cartoon/movie accurate figures but this and the miniature version can definitely be included in my collection in the future.. They look absolutely amazing..

Man, Razorclaw has always been one of my favourites, can't wait until my copy comes. He looks so good in Beast mode

I literally yelped seconds into the review, but as much s the robot mode looks great the lion mode is a knockout! ZOIDSesque for sure, Ben. I'd get this without getting the rest.
Just saw the official project takara and Bandai are making and it’s a zoid lion and basically looks identical, a new chogokin of the Liger Zero
@@Benscollectables I loooove how that Liger Zero looks, too. I have the Goodsmile Hagane Works Blade Liger and I think that would scale well with this Cang Toys one.

This is a gorgeous looking set, and I'm fine with the stylised look, but that combined mode head just breaks it for me. It looks nothing like the original whatsoever. I am sure they can do better than that, even if it's a non-transformable addon.

Torn on this one, I love all of this line but this is the only one where I don't love both modes, the robot mode just feels off with the giant lion face, but the beast mode is just phenomenal, like some specilized Liger unit from zoids

This may sound normalcy, but I would stalk and terrorize someone for cang toys to give us non-stylized G1 accurate generations scaled figures of the Breastforce.

Solid review as always. I'm on the fence. Too much going on in combined mode that makes it hard to tell what the chest is supposed to be. I have the other three and love 'em but not sure I'm going all the way especially given the cost of this one.
And definitely a King of Braves vibe more than Predaking. Just looking at it, had me confused.
I have the official Black MMC Predaking as figures in bot modes and the KO OS Black MMC version in combined mode but I'm going to have get these guys too in these colours! I hope they include some extra gold parts to put on the previously released figures in this combiner to tie them altogether visually. I just bought their MP sized Firmament.
Is it just me, or does Kinglion not even look the same like his mates? He is styled so differently compared to the other Predacons.

Nope you can't say that as it's PERFECT in everyone's eyes who is in on it. This set can't go wrong! Lol
Yeah comes across very different , almost suggests to me a designer change or concept change mid way through production.
@@Benscollectables That could very well be the case. It's not just because Kinglion has more gold than orange and black, but he has more sharp angles and things protruding. The first three releases were relatively calm with smooth, curved edges, in their appearances, with the exception of Firmament/Divebomb, but that's soley due to his feathers and wings.
It's like Cang-Toys realised that the people who like this kind of design were almost all Zoid-fans, and just decided to embrace it, instead of walking a thin line between stylised and G1 as they did with Tantrum and Rampage.

How did you get past the plastic piece when you open the back panel to pull the combine mode head out I just hot my copy of him and there was plastic between combine mode head and back panel opens to bring it out

It's an interesting looking set of that there is no doubt. It looks like they decided to take more than several steps away from the G1 Aesthetic, feel and over all look. Great Figure, but a Real Shame that they choose this route. I'll give them a 10 for Originality, and the transforming foot, clever and different, BUT again not G1. When I saw Rampage and Tantrum, I was Super Excited for the set, they were Excellent for the G1 look, You could see them move away from it with Divebo mb. Now Razorclaw looks like a cross between Zoids and Gundam. Unfortunately, not the look I am going for. I had high hopes for this set, and even with the additions of a Gorilla, and two Wolves, I could have looked the other way had they kept the Aesthetics of Tantrum and Rampage throughout. I am no longer interested in their 'Bot or 'Alt modes, all that's left to hope for is that Predaking turns out OK and makes up for the short comings of the rest of the set. As each figure gets released, my excitement dies that much more. Maybe they will revamp the set and make a more G1 look after they finish with this. IMO they needed to stay away from teh Gold, too busy, too much going on already. The Reds, Blacks, Yellows and Oranges looked Great.

They did start off with the first 2 that were a Great G1 rendition. Then they moved further and further away.
The Combined, PredaKing looks good, so will finish the collection and keep in combined form.

Hey, do you know of any official or 3rd-party Lio Convoy, released or announced, that would stand roughly the same height as MP-10? I know Beast Warriors are shown as much smaller in the cartoon, but they've since been depicted as roughly the same height. Pairing leader-height figures with a short Lio Convoy looks silly.

I'm more looking forward to their take on the Dinobots in a more Gundam Style and I really hope they combine as well. But I have to say the change in paint and sculpting quality between the figures in this set bug me a little bit

Pass. His combined face looks like Monstructor. If I were to put down close to a thousand dollars for this thing (and you know that's how much the full set's going to cost), at the very least, I want his Combiner-face to remind me of, y'know, Predaking.

Way too much gold. The combined mode head needs to be a different color, it blends in too much with all the surrounding bits.
Yeah... This set just isn't for me in the slightest... It's not that they don't have their charms, it's that Tantrum and Ravage weren't bad but Divebomb and Razorclaw here are just *way* too busy. Christ, you can't even see Razorclaw's head really at 3:35 due to how large his chest is.
Oh my...I was in on this set until NOW. This Beast is a mess to say the least, I could excuse the Bird but this looks like a Gundam mixed with a RoBeast from Voltron. And the Combiner Chest is way way way...2 Busy. I understand Modernized or Stylized but this is way off. It's like saying Rodimus Prime is Stylized Optimus Prime...No Way.

Not everything needs to be G1
But there is such a thing as being too stylized.
I have the Jinbao OS MMC Feral Rex, and there is no doubt this has a much higher quality finish.
But for some reason, I don't care. I never liked Predaking that much, and the OS, as simplistic as it is, seems satisfyingly G1 enough to me to stop looking any further.
I'm also nervous about all the dangly spiky Bayformer-esque bits on this.

He is a content creator. They usually get prototype pre-releases either free or able to buy a version ahead of everyone else.
