thank you for your video great amount of help but some info was different on my 04 cavalier. just removed mine. the two torque screws were t-30 and the to remove the steering wheel was a 21mm and a solid hit. great job and again thanks for the video exactly what I needed
I believe that to get the bolt under the steering column is a 7mm the next tool to get to the back of the steering wheel is a torx t27 then you just need a flat head and I believe a 17mm for the steering wheel bolt
I’m 6 years late on this comment but to swap a CD player on these cars are a major pain cause GM has screws all over the dash pad you have to take off just to take off the plastic dash around the steering wheel and center controls.. absolute pain .. I have 2 cavys and glad this is done on them (I did both but major pain)
Thanks to post this video it really help me I need to install a new steering wheel. Can u please tell the size of the tool will need to do this ??? It is a same model of car
So, just beat on the nut to loosen the wheel? And leave the battery connected? This video is good for knowledge, but certainly not the right way to do things.
My mechanic took mine off without the nut on it with a regular hammer and now my threads are stripped halfway making it cross thread the nut back on... that's what I get for trusting people.
Man you just saved me a lot of guessing and trying to figure out how to go about doing this. It should be the same for a 2000 cavalier too huh? At least close to it.
Buen trabajo son
In order to remove the tilts lever, you need to use locking pliers. It is screwed in

I need to know how the red spring wire would go back in???
When you remove the air bag, is the red cable the one that activate the horn?

I've got this exact car, and my steering wheel pivot pins have fallen out and disappeared. So the steering wheel just pretty much moves freely.
I did not install an after market steering wheel I had to pull my whole dash
Hi I was wondering how you installed your aftermarket stereo. Would you please help me thanks ive been searching online and no help
I am very sorry but I bought my car with the CD player in it.

There’s even screws in the glove box and on the right side of the glove box facing the passenger door that needs to come out to get dash pad off

I need to remove my car horn is this how I would do that. ? It's a 2002 Pontiac sun fire. Same basically as the cavileir. ?
The horn is under the hood.
I’m in the same boat with an 04 sunfire. I think the horn switch is part of the air bag 🙄

How did you take out the steering wheel adjust lever?
I think that the whole lever unscrewed. I was a pain but I did get it finally.
I got it off finally with pliers and lots of elbow grease, a successful replacement of my torn up steeringwheel thanks to your video!
+TempestOfTheBlood it just unscrews the whole lever

casinogiant Best find a mechanic who knows what he's doing!
are you supposed to disconnect the battery?? air bag ... even static electricity could set it off! those studs you show can become lethal !

A lot better, if you use a steering wheel puller; less chance of damaging the shaft and the threads/nut...
I didn't have the T27 but had a T30 on a socket & that worked on my 2005 Cavalier. Thanks for posting this.
theflcourier what is the size of the steering wheel nut
