    Christopher's tips:
    1. read as much as you can.
2.understand everything about the language you're writing in
    3. outline your story and your characters before you start writing
    4. find a good editor and listen to them
    5. write about what you love

Hey Chris! I just wanted to let you know, the Inheritance Cycle is a major part of my life. I can't count the amount of times I've read all four (I'd guess it's well over a hundred), and anytime I'm feeling down about anything, I crack open Eldest or Brisingr and then read the other 3! They're my ultimate comfort zone. Love you man!

This is sooooo true for me rn. Too much reading that once I’m doing it I’m like “eh I’ll write later”.

Am I hallucinating? In the first scene, there was the Inheritance cycle in Czech on the table, right? Does Christopher Paolini speak Czech, or he has it just because of the beautiful cover?

That is a freaking good question. I searched a lot and kinda hard but I didn't managed to find anything useful or informative so I don't know. It's sad because this question was laying in my mind for a long time.

Well, yeah, if I had to guess I'd say it's because of the cover. One can never be sure, though.
In fact, I almost didn't realize what I was seeing, I only thought: "Oh, I've seen that book in the bookstore." Nothing more. But something just felt odd, I figured out moments after.
Even so, like you, I'd love to know the truth.

    This has been insightful.
I like that phrase :: "It's good to understand the rules before you break them." and my reply to that was:: "Because you're *gonna* break them." (at least in some ways)

It should be said that writing tips, number 3 especially, should be taken as they work. Many people are discovery writers (George RR Martin and King famously) so outlining doesn’t work for them.

  • @thethikboy

I only have a general premise - I don't know exactly what I'm going to write before I write it. No outline. No plan.

    • @Doivid_

That’s fine. That’s what Stephen King and George Martin do. Do what works for you. Sanderson outlines his stories but not his characters.
