I'm American...My best guy friend and his two English mates stopped by my house recently. I'm kinda old fashioned with how I make my tea, but I'd put a kettle on. Asa the water boiled I spooned loose tea into a ball, dropped it into the pot, the poured the water over to steep. I asked if they took milk or sugar with it, but did both after I'd poured it into their saucers. They were staring at me and Ed his friend goes "now that's a proper tea presentation that is" and I burst out laughing

When I was in the states more specifically Ohio, people were going crazy for my accent! When I lived in England I found guys to be quite relaxed about approaching girls. Their compliments were normal, they were quite into giving compliments as a way of picking up women. They are quite nice to attractive girls, quite humorous in general, will console you when you cry. What they seem to be affraid of is a woman who says "I love you" first or wants too much commitment. They also get awkward over one night stands, which they tend to have a lot.

I remember when I was younger and went on holiday to America and it freaked me out at first the attention my British accent was getting, at the time I didn't realise they liked it so much and I still remember one girl that just wanted me to talk so she could hear my accent and it almost felt like she was drooling over what I was saying lol, it's crazy but I can understand it because it's different to what they are used to.

Yes - Russians also drink tons of tea, but we drink it with lemon instead of milk like the Brits.

Yes, as another English guy I found myself agreeing with it all except the shopping thing. I felt insulted! I go shopping for fresh stuff nearly every day. We have food shops within walking distance everywhere not like north America where you have to go in a car and buy in bulk. Apart from that it was OK.

Can confirm! Met an English guy at a party (right near the Essex Suffolk border) and we were already tipsy when we started talking and got even more so as the night went on. The two things he repeated were "You're so pretty!" and "Are you alright?" We were both a bit embarrassed the next day at the level of flirting (and a few other things) that went on, but now we're long-distance friends who talk on Instagram when we can. I'm Canadian and my time zone is 7 hours different. That makes talking challenging.

Not sure about this. The tea is pretty accurate. The food is more likely to be take away pizza or ready meals than cans and although there is something of the bumbling shy Hugh Grant type in us these days women are just as likely to get a brash, loud slightly drunk player.

Well done! You pretty much nailed the awkwardness and underlying sense of unease an Englishman feels asking a pretty lady out on a date. We don't all like football however.
Also worthy of note is some Englishmen will love to cook, if you are unlucky they will cook you something from your own country and it will taste nothing like the real thing. I cook Italian, Indian and Mexican food and my wife and friends love it but a Native of those countries would find it a little odd.

My own experience of being in college in the US was that I had never to approach any girl - they all threw themselves at me .........because of my accent! There were even those who wanted to go straight to bed if I talked to them on the way! Its all pretty accurate but we haven't eaten tinned food and lots of English guys love to cook and cook well.............far, far more than from other countries in my experience!

Why do people say that the English are really ugly and have bad teeth then? I'm English and I think English men and women are very attractive most of the time. A lot of northerners are very fake and make up to the point they look like drag queens. But apart from that we can't be that bad

If you let most English men do the shopping on their own you will probably get: beer, crisps, biscuits, cake, bread, butter, ham, bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans and tomato sauce.
The roast dinner part is hilarious and very true, as is the football comment and also that tea solves every problem. The idea is that you share your problems or listen to a friend's/partner's while sharing a cup of tea. It sounds silly but it is a genuine sign that someone cares enough about you to be bothered to want to listen to you, comfort you and try to help you.
I've never understood why people in Canada go crazy over English accents but in high school we had this English guy who'd immigrated when he was ten or so. First time I met him he spoke in an English accent, second time too, third time he sounded just like us... I was so confused... And then I realized. He knows girls go crazy for it so if he likes one he'll turn it on and wait for them to come come to him. It always worked too. 😂
