  • Today is my last day in Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo! I've had a fantastic time over the past few days exploring this city and on my final day I decide to have breakfast at a local Warung and then have a cheeky second Special Sarawak Laksa breakfast at my favorite foodcourt. I then visit the James Brooke Gallery to learn about the history of Sarawak before visiting The Granary restaurant and a popular cake store. I finish the day with a junk boat cruise on the Sarawak River. Enjoy this final tour of Kuching with me. If you have any questions about my Kuching vlog, please comment below and I will get back to you. Enjoy! #malaysia #kuching #sarawak #borneo #rivercruise #jamesbrooke #laksa #aussie #hussmeister

    Hi, if you're Aussie. we in Sarawak and Sabah love you Aussies. So many Aussies and Kiwis fought here in the WW2. You won't get so much love from the West Malaysians. Many Aussies and I think, English came here to fight the Indonesians during the Confrontation. The soldiers conducted themselves well when here. Also so many East Malaysians studied in Australia and NZ universities.

    • @hussmeister
      @hussmeister  4 месяца назад

      Yes I am Australian ☺️ I did look in to the history of Australian soldiers in Borneo and the it is interesting. In Sabah I went to Australia Place and observed the area that the soldiers camped during WW2. I also saw some Australian universities in Borneo. Great friendship between Australia and the Borneo states 👏🏼

    There are places to eat Sarawak Laksa in Melbourne like "Sarawak Kitchen" (CBD) and "Terry's Kitchen" (Wantirna, better but only on the menu occasionally). They also have Kolo Mee. Might be a few other places but of course the best is still the original in Kuching. Melbourne actually has some very good Malaysian food if you know where to go.

    Notice something peculiar about Kuching CBD?
    The eastern part has mostly narrower one-way streets.
    IIRC that used to be the business centre of Kuching Town and it's administrative centre.
    That is until the Bukit Mata developments shifted it to the hotel precinct and Padungan Road.

      You are most welcomed.
      Visit the several "colonial" buildings.
      (Note that Sarawak wasn't actually a colony of the UK until after the war.
      IIRC it became a protectorate of the UK in 1888. Heck, even the USA recognised Sarawak as an independent sovereign state in 1850, before the UK).
      The Sarawak Museum (I mean the old one), the Old Court House, Fort Margherita, the Square House, the Round House, the Pavilion, the Post Office, Brooke Dockyard and the Astana.

      Andrei how are you my friend? 👋🏼 thank you for your kind words. From my experience, the rainy season in Kuching was wetter and the rain lasted longer.
