      Good question. At most of the places where I ate, the menu would be segmented in to Laos and Thai food. I stuck to the Laos food (because I was in Laos) so I’m unsure if there is much difference. Others may know? If you do please let us know.

    You're in Laos and they're reserve cuz they don't speak your language?

    • @hussmeister
      @hussmeister 18 часов назад

      No. That isn’t what I said. They are abit more reserved, possibly because my Laos language and their English skills don’t coincide. This could be because they speak more French (former colony) as a second language. From a business perspective it would be in their favor if English was more wide spoken to assist with tourism. That isn’t a bad thing. It’s just business

      Yes you are correct. My knowledge of the Lao language is getting better slowly. But the world of tourism demands English and Chinese and if the people can compliment their skills with either it will allow them to attract more tourism. It’s not a bad thing. It’s just business.

    How can you say with a straight face that thailand and laos are not alike. Thailand is more than the tourist areas, most of thailand is completely different to the tourist areas. Laos and thailand were part of the same empire till roughly 130 years ago. Laos still speaks pretty much the exact same language as the eastern part of thailand (isan) and 90% the same language as the rest of thailand. So same people, same language, same religion, same culture and iused to be the same country. If you want to compare it to pattaya, phuket and bangkok or any other party areas then yeah its different. If you want to compare it to isan its the same thing. 10 minites in laos and clearly you never visited the majority of Thailand but some how you are an expert. Nobody listen to this guy he is clueless. What he should have said is Laos is like the quiet parts/non tourist areas and eastern thailand (isan). If you want to party or visit a beach its probably not for you. Prices are compareable to rural thailand, not considerably cheaper as he says. Yes slightly cheaper for some things, but nothing drastic. Tourist areas in thailand are much more expensive than thai areas, also being a tourist in either of these countries cann affect the prices you will be given. The people are exactly the same as the people from isan, i wouldnt say they are more reserved its just more quiet in rural areas and a lot of the crazy/fun/funny people from the country generally make their way to the cities. But when you are in the tourist areas and meet thai people, most the ones that are the most fun and have the most energy are from the country. Isan/laos girls are definately the funniest and the most fun to be around, also the most beautiful for westerners. Hope i helped anyone who was actually looking for realistic information.

    • @hussmeister
      @hussmeister День назад

      Deep breath. I am only talking about my experience in main tourist areas in Thailand and Laos. I am not comparing cultures, empires, Isan, girls, etc. as you are referencing. I am not claiming to be a travel expert. There is no right or wrong to somebody’s personal experience. Thanks for understanding.

    Solving the problem of reading Chinese in public places, restaurants , etc. Need to install in your cellphone the App named DEAR TRANSLATE version 4.1.44 (the logo is a picture of a parrot) Sorry it is in Chinese but extremelt easy to undertsand how it works, However just in case you cannot operate it on your own, All you have to do ask your hotel receiptionist or a Chinese friend to explain it to you. I cannot read Chinese and been using very successfully this app. Very easy to use all you need to do is tak a picture of the Chinese text and it will appear in your screen in English (can set to other languages). Then by tapping the screen in goes back to Chinese and visa versa.
