The Jedi Steps theme truly is amazing. I teared up a little when I first saw that scene with the music. Magical, but sad at the same time.
+Lupercal06 indeed...
+Lupercal06 You nailed it. those last few music notes at the very end before the credit scroll seemed deliberately off pitch to express a sense of pain or sadness in Luke IMO.
Why sad?
Rafael Navarro-Rubio I don't know how to explain it. Those notes are on the same range (I dunno how to say it, I'm no musician) as the classic Binary Sunset/Luke/Force theme, but kinda off. It's the same theme, but older, with more depth and emotion. Like Luke, in a way. Also, those few notes combined with Rey walking up these lonely steps to meet her destiny... it felt really powerful.
+Lupercal06 True! Such a perfect scene!
1:38 When I first saw that scene I instantly teared up the way Rey and Luke look at each other is just so powerful!!
SPOILER ABOVE WATCH OUT
Yes I felt the same way bro.
It was kind of creepy to me
Rey is luke daughter right?
+DJ Moon Knight *sigh*
+DJ Moon Knight it was 21 seconds, just a little too long
No matter what you think of the sequel trilogy... The music will always be amazing.
John Williams is a freaking genius. Even Spielberg has admitted that a huge variable in his own successful movie career has been because of having someone like John Williams working for him. There's a reason he refuses to use anyone else as a composer in his movies.
Not as good as the other two trilogy’s music, but still some of the best of all time
@@maul6096 kylo ren theme is incredibly nasty
Genuinely cannot argue with that. While I forget about the sequels I never forget the music it gave us
Facts
I remember watching TFA in cinema. When this theme started and Rey walked up the stairs... you cannot imagine how quite it got, especially when we got the first shot of Luke. My girlfriend was actually holding her breath! (She usually won't quit talking, so...) And when the end credits began to roll, the room EXPLODED! Everyone inside started cheering like as if they had just won a jackpot or something like that. I guess this is the beautiful thing about being a Star Wars fan.
And TLJ ruined it all.

What an honor it must have been to play that french horn solo at 1:37
Binary sunset look it up, it was from the original Star Wars movie.
Dragonaum i kinda know that. I was stating that it mustve been the best thing ever to be the french horn player who got to play that solo in the movie score.

Absolutely brilliant - it was like Rey was being called to this place, and this time.
Haunting, enchanted - and then the hooded figure.
He pulls back his hood and reveals himself to be ...
John Williams - the best film composer in the history of cinema.
We have much to learn.
This was such an amazing scene, one of my favorites in the movie
I agree. However I may go as far as to say this could be my favorite scene in all of Star Wars.
The look on Lukes face is both chilling and inspiring. He sees a younger version of himself standing in front of him. As the music swells, you can see the hope flood back into his body. Even after all the darkness, he still has a chance to make things right.
+Tristan Smith for me, the best scene of all the 7 movies is the bridge scene from this movie
+Sam Rider I loved it when Han entered to Falcon's cabin. I cried a lot. In that scene, I think that Ford went back to 1977
+Alexy Palmar "Chewie...Were Home"
Luke looked the most badass he's ever been, and he didn't even have to do anything.
Did anyone else notice Rey's face go from unsure and scared to confident and honoured? This was a very significant scene in the movie. I cannot wait for the next instalment. I have already seen it twice.
Same here. There's gonna be a third time 😏 cant help it!!!

00:58 I'll never forget that part when the camera pointed to Luke's back, wearing that classic jedi outfit, looking so misterious. Breathtaking. And the music, wonderful. I loved The Force Awakens.
+Denzel Mendoza for me i choked up at the moment they both see each others faces and they both have tears in their eyes
Havok Solo Yeah, that scene really showed us what the years had done to Luke as both looked each other to the eye. Tearful moment! Looking forward to watch it again. (3rd time lol)

Me too. I dont care what people said. I love all the movies.
God you are blessed
I wish I could force myself into believing sequels are actually great movies but I just can't
0:20-1:30 is probably some of the best music John Williams composed for Star Wars.
Edit, this part actually reminded me of the music in LOTR The Return of the King when Frodo and Sam are on the rock surrounded by flowing lava and Frodo says his "at the end of all things" line.
I teared up thrice in the movie.
1st- At the iconic Star Wars start with that music.
2nd- When Chewbaca groaned after Hans died.
3rd- When the Force theme plays with Rey and Luke looking at each other.
Saysena!!!!
Sahi
You liked this trash?
@altacc6581 it was only bad once TLJ came out. Also being derogatory and pejorative is just you being a dick btw.
2:12 - People in the audience start clapping and cheering, because the movie surpassed our expectations.
+Tommy Dee It surpassed mine. I knew its gonna be good, but not that good. Yes, it rehashed a lot from OT, but the focus was on the characters so it didnt bother me much 9/10. Best since 1980.
Same here.
+Tommy Dee so your expectations expected an HD episode IV remake ?
+Ariadalf Yes, it did for him and me. Problem?
coolster250
yes, me, i was expecting the episode VII.
Semi-spoilery for Episode VIII
This scene will never be the same now that we know what happens right after Rey gives Luke the saber!
literally every second recent comment saying about that scene, why do you even bother with spoiler, ffs.
Luke's reaction in tlj doesn't make sense...i don't like rian johnson, he destroyed everything that jj abrams created in tfa...
Nah
Na. It still had the same impact for me and thousands of younglings...and oldlings too.
Is IX xD
At 0:56 when Rey first sees Luke the music is in the same key as the Imperial March/Darth Vaders theme. It's a nice subtle nod to Luke's past and his temptation to the dark side, while also showing that although he is the hero, there are still elements of darkness to his character. So much communicated without any dialogue, John Williams is a genius!
This is the one piece from The Force Awakens that everyone will most likely remember from now on. It's just such a beautiful piece. I remember it from one of the commercials, and when I heard it, I was like "YES".

yes!!! This and rey's theme are definitely my favorites.
And The Scavenger which is a Rey's Theme arrangement.
+974wayes and March of the Resistance which plays when the X-Wings fly in to save Finn, Han, and Chewy.
+FeebleBird903 Rey's theme is beautiful and heroic, but March of the Resistance was the most memorable for me. It gave every Resistance scene that much more momentum.

4:12 Kylo Ren's Theme
4:56 Escape from Jakku
5:21 Poe's Theme
5:32 Escape from Jakku Continued
6:04 Resistance Theme
7:26 Force Theme Reprise (Rey's Theme)
+ArchKnight47 Nice, and mostly accurate, although what you have labeled as Finn's theme is actually more closely associated with Poe, during the attack on Takodana for example.
If Finn has a theme, it's the action motif most prominently heard during the escape from Jakku, and a few times later.
+leoest3 The Resistance March played when the X-Wings showed up on Takodana. I think it's Finn's theme, because not only does it play during Finn and Poe's escape, but also in between the Escape from Jakku music, which makes me think it's associated with Finn.
ArchKnight47 Maybe it signifies the relationship between Finn and Poe? The theme takes over from The March of the Resistance at the precise moment when Poe starts shooting down Imperial troops at Takodana, but that version of the cue is not on the soundtrack album. You can find it here:
www.waltdisneystudiosawards.com/music/star-wars/Track14.mp3
I haven't done any deeper analysis of the score myself, but the generally knowledgeable folks at the JWfan forums seem to think the connection to Poe is stronger.
www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25879-the-thematic-material-of-the-star-wars-saga-possible-community-project/&do=findComment&comment=1206619
+ArchKnight47 5:22 is Poe's Theme. I think 5:45 is kind of a motif for Finn, though it's more of a rhythmic idea. There's a great statement of Poe's theme at 1:05 of "The Resistance", which is Track 14 of the Promo.
Thanks for this bro!
That cue at 8:06 is absolutely incredible....
John Williams... What else can I say? The man is a gift to mankind.
The final 30 seconds of this always gets me emotional

Chills, tears, all the emotions. One of my favorite all time Star Wars moments.
I just love how there was no dialog, it was perfect
+sparky10142 I'd really preferred if there was at least one line of dialogue, the main reason I went to the film was for this scene, so I felt a little disappointed.
+Deathlygunn I understand, but imagine the next film! Going to be amazing.

Such a powerful, significant ending. That alone was worth the 3 year wait.

Goodness all the movie bashing up in here. Let’s just recognize that John Williams is the greatest musical genius EVER in terms of movie music. Even now at almost 90 years old, this man is still composing outstanding sounds that’ll make any movie memorable. Damn it’s gonna suck when he’s gone 😞
We must... extract... more masterpieces out of him!
7:28...I love the way, that they did a mash-up on Luke and Rey's theme!
not they, you mean Mr John Williams
Haha, sorry...XD
Not "Luke's Theme", you mean "The Force Theme"...
It's actually the _Jedi_ theme, but often taken to be Luke's. There's a bit of the rebel theme in there too.
+Deipatrous I call it Binary Sunset because that's what it's called when you first hear it in 'A New Hope'
I didn't know much about Star Wars.. I just heard about it on the big bang theory. Then came Star Wars the Force Awakens. I happened to watch it in my Brother's House. It was absolutely great. But I had no idea who Luke Skywalker was. So I downloaded the complete saga, binge watched it and then I found out why so many people are always hyped about watching every damn star wars movies. Now, I am so restless. Eagerly waiting for Star Wars Episode 8. Star wars undoubtedly is the best thing that ever happened in movies.
Do you think episode 7 is a remake of episode 4?
TigerishNose9 No I wouldn't say that. But episode 4 does resembles with episode 7 in a lot of ways.
The presence of too many plotholes , How Kylo Ren just like Anakin were lured into the dark side, Who are or were the parents of Daisy Ridley. Talking about similarities, Just like Luke told to search for Yoda in episode 4Daisy Ridley goes on to search Luke. And, finally, The death of Han Solo in episode 7 just as the death of Obi Wan Kenobi in episode 4.
If the creators of this franchise aren't able to fill up these plotholes in the coming movies, you can expect yet another prequel to this trilogy...
Diwash Paudel If we do get a prequel... it has to be better than the previous.
Episode 1 was not quite good except for much better choreography on lightsaber battles and vastly improved CGI. Other than that, episode 1 was the most weakest movie of the franchise.
TigerishNose9 If...
Not sure about that because George Lucas is very crative in filling up plot holes.
...Then he throws the lightsaber.
Man TLJ was full of surprises.
You might want to edit this comment to prevent spoilers
The movie has been out for 3 weeks. If people cared about spoilers then they would've seen the movie already.
Darth Korn you have to take in to consideration that people around the world don't always get to see movies at the same time. Some times movies get released 2 months later for them
You’ll find that Luke’s full of surprises
I thought that was a perfect way to have the scene. We've been waiting for 2 years to find out what he would say and everything I could think of sounded goofy. He didn't say anything.
7:30 Perfect blending between Rey's Theme and the Force Theme. I can't believe how well they fit together. Perfection.

John Williams is a GENIUS!
Like some other people here, I legit teared up in the theater when this theme came in. What a profoundly beautiful answer to the score of the original trilogy. You can feel that 40+ years have passed, and things have changed, but something is still quite the same. My music theory professor is convinced that John Williams is the great composer of our time, and it's pieces like this that prove his point. What a fantastic piece.
how can music make a man so emotional, I mean serious what the fuck!
It can man I grew up on Black sabbath and let me tell you Changes is pretty emotional but to each his own
Cal Cugedhion ah...because is music (?)
im glad to see Im not the only one who teared up in the movie....actually almost a dozen times throughout, triggered by music, actors and just general composition. i still get goosebumps just listening to this music or watching the movies at home or even just geaking out with my friends when we sit and discuss star wars theory. I'm just delighted to know it touches so many others out there like it does me :)
+motorcity Mayhem You are hardly the only the man who teared up during that movie, my friend. I did and so did every guy in the row I was sitting in.

This track saddens me. The death of potential.
did anyone else sit through the credits?
+superyoshibros99 seen the movie three times and still have not, I just cant stand still after words ;-)
+superyoshibros99 Both times I saw it. I always sit through the credits of a Star Wars or Indiana Jones movie. Williams does a great job scoring those.
+doughbafett He's amazing at remixing his themes especially for the credits. Most composers just put in the same exact tracks from the movie but he always does it slightly different for people who stay and has all the themes go into each other. The Falcon action theme mixes into Poe's theme, and then Rey's Theme mixes with the Force theme. Amazing.
The score alone had me sit through the credits the whole time. My family was pissed but it was worth it.
Go to Japan. EVERYONE does that
John Williams is the true Bendu in this galaxy. Hes such an impressive force user so powerful he can unite both the Dark Side and the Light in only one Side only using his music. The Universe its in debt with this man. May the Force be with all of us

It was amazing being in a room with a hundred people and everyone seemed to not even breathe...
I'm calling it now, Rey will do what Anakin and Luke could not, bring balance to the Force. The prophecy is about her.
+Solid Snake But anakin did bring balance to the force. The prophecy only said the chosen one will bring balance to the force, it never mentioned light or dark.
Anakin was the chosen one who brought balance to the force. Read up the definition of balance. It means "Equal amounts of weight / numbers. Equilibrium." It simply means if there are two sith there will be two jedi. Or if there are two sith and one jedi, the jedi will be strong as both of them combined.
you are all incorrect. the prophecy to bring balance to the force by destroying the sith. when anakin killed sidioius and then died he destroyed the sith and fulfilled the prophecy. it says it right in the movies
+hazza But Yoda said the prophecy was misinterpreted right?
hazza The prophecy only said that the chosen one will bring balance to the force, it never said balancing the force would require destruction of the evil. At one point, jedi outnumbered and outpowered the sith, and master yoda himself admitted that the prophecy might have been misread by the jedi.
5:22 This part give me chills every single time...just the way everything blends together
John Williams is THE MAN
Ahh this song makes me so emotional. This and the scavenger.
Star wars in general is emotional to me. When *SPOILER ALERT* (I assume everyone's seen it) solo died I got emotional

Thomas Coughlan haha :)
This composition is easily one of Williams' 5 best Star Wars compositions. I think we have the New Jedi Order theme, ladies and gentlemen.
I'm currently in the middle of a Star Wars marathon. I'm still on the prequels. I've watched Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones already and tonight will be Revenge of the Sith. Tomorrow will be Rogue One and then A New Hope and so on. When I finish watching The Force Awakens my next thing will be to go to the theatre and watch The Last Jedi one more time. ALL NINE FILMS IN A ROW!!!
J Bro I just did that too!
They are fun to watch I’m a huge Star Wars fan myself
I did this as well once.
Welcome to the Star Wars fan world !!!
0:19 - 1:30 that part was amazing
You've got to be in awe of John Williams, who in his 80's is creating some of his best stuff ever.
Yep gosh it was either gonna be John Williams or Enninio Morricone who would win Best Original Score at the most recent Oscars
You know, I'm a classical musician, and I have a confession: I took John Williams for granted during the first viewing. I didn't think it was very special and memorable. How mistaken I was. This music gets better every time I listen to it! I hope I don't make that mistake again. Long love Johnny!
Remember when we thought the sequels could actually be good?
I mean, this movie on its own wasn't exactly "good".
@@virgogaming6488 it had future
@@JR7noir It never did.
John Williams legend
Great ending music. As always. BRAVO MAESTRO!
the great, old, wise Luke
I immediately thought Punished "Venom" Luke. heck C3PO had a red arm too lol
+Hank Tsui I'm already a droid.
+Hank Tsui I don't get this. I see it everywhere and I still don't get it! Please explain

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
I really wish Han hadn't died so soon, and him and Chewie would've gone to meet Luke instead of Rey. Just think about it.
"Hey kid, we've got work to do."
Californian Liberalist that would be beautiful
that would be sooooo beautiful
wasn't there story anymore. like the ot wasn't obi wan and yoda's story anymore.
dannyhuskerjay yoda and Obi wan played huge roles in the ot, and no matter how Disney tries to change the story line everyone is still gonna think of Star Wars as the story of luke and anakin, And if luke saw Han he would’ve came back. And how do you kill off the hero of your franchise, like luke and Kylo should’ve had a duel like obi wan and anakin did on mustafar with ultimately luke winning and training Rey
dannyhuskerjay and Han would’ve took kylo after he lost his duel with snoke to get surgery while general akbar should’ve led a massive assault on the first order which leaning towards snokes retreat ultimately facing luke Rey and kylo in episode 6
That last part of music makes me cry, every time.
4:12. Simply fantastic bit of transition and composition from the master there

"May the Force be with you"
Amen
If there was one thing Disney got right, it was the score/music. Phenomenal!
John Williams music is amazing. It brings me to tears.
