They can never get me to spend more than I want. I like playing the game, but my money is valuable for me since I have a family to provide for, and they are more important than some game that makes some CEO richer. I will never be that addicted to the game that they will put me into debt to just be the best in a game that will eventually close down.

Because if this happens, then the cascading effects will be catastrophic for f2p because no captain britain will mean the difference between win or loss in crucible, that will push us down in an already staggered trophy system in crucible, this will mean a very small legendary, that will further throw us back in war, in crucible. 2000+ day player here, will give it a few months for the dust to clear, won't spend during that time, and if it turns out this 5 star CB is a 12 month paywall to screw up the game for a year - i'll stop playing and maybe come back in a year or maybe wont. will just depend on some luck as to how it breaks for $copley.
This is 100% on the heavy spenders. If even 10% of them told scopely they are not spending anymore if they continue with this strategy then maybe, just maybe scopely would listen.
You could just as easily say it's on the f2p. If they are as invaluable as they claim then a login strike by them could bring scopely to their knees, yet not one of them will do it.
Why would they end a game that is still generating massive profits for them? Their purpose is to extract money from players, and they are still doing that.
I don't spend $ on characters...never will! I had no problem dropping $20 on a battle or strike pass, and used to do that fairly regularly. I think that if you can afford it, it makes the game much more fun. Once all the anti-player junk started with Cabal, then OML, I decided to stop spending money completely on this game. If Scopely goes back to being player-friendly, I'll start spending again. It's funny how they think they can convert light-spenders to whales by creating FOMO. I think all they will be successful in doing is converting light-spenders back into F2P.
I was going to write an explanation about how this is part of Scopely’s pattern the past year and that this isn’t new, but I’m tired of trying to explain it to people. The truth is very simple. Scopely does not want higher spending tiers losing to lower spending tiers. Period. I’m not saying I agree with how they are doing it. I am saying they will do anything to the rest of the playerbase to make this a reality in MSF.

Once it did, obviously us paid account holders were concerned. However, we had easier paths to new content, items, mounts, character traits (AA), and other things. Nothing was blocked off by a pay wall altogether. Say a Nightmare horse mount was the item in question. Since we paid for our account, the amount cost 5plat and no quest line. While F2p had a cost of 60p and a long quest line to run. Nothing crazy hard, but the consuming, would need help from others for certain parts, items crafted by a specific kind of crafter and lvl of crafter. Etc. See there's simple ways to make spenders have easier access to something without complete paywalling something and then vaulting immediately. Here's another random example. There's a new dungeon being released. Has all kinds of new goodies/upgrades and cool things. What they would do is for first 2-4 weeks F2p didn't have access. Once it became common and what it would be opened up to F2p who again had to go on a quest line before they could access said dungeon. I'm all for spenders having said advantage. But making it 100% unavailable to F2p is not healthy solution for a playbase.

There actually was a spending strike before in the past and it was very effective a few bought but overall the community did not buy ANYTHING and it was very EFFECTIVE.
Kraken will buy something they would have bought anyway because the people asking them not to aren't willing to put themselves out. Get the f2p to hold a login strike for a week and then go to the krakens asking them to boycott. They won't though because then they'd lose their streak and actually have to play the game for a few days.
Last winter it looked like things were turning around but something changed in March and ever since then its been getting worse and worse. If players don't fight this then its over for ftp and the beginning of the end for the game.

Imo, people cry to much. We all know EVERY game or everything in life is pay to play. No one makes it to the top in any game without paying. Furthermore, I could understand the out cry if ftp were constantly paired against whales, but that isn't the case. It's a fair leveled playing field.
Its simple most the whales are idiots n cant win even with all the characters. Tye game design is based on synergies n team placements n using a understanding of the game. $copely has been bad, throw a party favor out once in awhile but always stick to shit ways. It’s not just characters, there literally is one game mode in crucible. Diamonds are gated in crucible most of crucible is pay to win.
In the past, even when I spend $100 on a big unlock package for a new character, I only end up with them at four stars, but I am going to need these new characters at five stars. Does that mean I am going to be expected to spend $200 PER CHARACTER to be able to get Captain Britain????? Also, isn't there some kind of deadline when I'll need them at five stars to continue getting the next character in the series???
The first question and answer should be a staunch no for you. Being told to spend 200.00 for any character is insulting. In this case it's going to be a minimum of 200-400 for the entire team, realistically probably nearer 300ish to have characters, closer to 400 to have all 3 at 5 red stars. This is just stupid.
In answer to Boomers questions, 5 stars, 5 stars, a shit ton, yes, majorly. For Dorky he will be the most expensive DPC character yet. As for the next legendary, I suspect that they will leave the "cheese the first node to get a basic unlock" option, but they will tweek the points so that you can't get the 5th star without all of the teams, named and unnamed.
I’m a light spender. And this is the first time I am seriously considering quitting. Already thought of the message I’m going to tell my alliance why I’m quitting. Cc was the one thing that made kept this game going now that it is also being F’d I think it’s time to go. I have bought characters in the past but no way will I buy a character to 5 stars. Let alone two to 5 yellow. They are getting too greedy now.

I used the word "transition", which means I'm eluding to how the game will differ from the current format. I'm aware that all current characters are made free to play eventually, but Captain Britain marks the beginning of a transition towards a game in which paying is the only method of unlocking the character absent any other release information.

The biggest issue here is the vaulted term. No one knows what this means. ZIM was available FTP farmable 1 yr after release and ZUGGS still isnt farmable after 8 months. Cosmis crucible is many peoples favorite game mode despite it not being as rewarding as arena, raids, or even war. If they are going to gate your ability to compete for a year or who knows how long.....why even bother with this game mode. The weekly and season rewards are not worth the hassle. Which then is them shooting themselves in the foot. Why buy this team if all of the above is true.
I think they can. As long as the whales keep spending. They might have a viable model building a game and selling content for only a few thousand players in total.

If you free to play don't core this character at all. Just suffer and he will be free to play later. We don't even need him and I cored Black Knight with 9k cores F2P and I actually regretted it because you could have gotten by with a 4-5 red Black Knight and still be competitive
I mean it has been the same story for a LONG time now. It sucks but f2p mobile games will ALWAYS be like this. Don't spend money and your problem is solved. I don't see why people think you can actually be competitive in these games without either: 1. Being incredibly rich or a content creator for the game. 2. Spending 99% of your free time playing f2p. The complaining about it is getting pretty old. These companies will ALWAYS go the greedy route, and even if a game starts out not like that it will eventually devolve back to greedy. They will alleviate the current out cry slightly like they did with horseman unlock method and when they realize it doesn't make them as much $$$ they will go right back to greedy AGAIN. It is a never-ending cycle, unfortunately.

Just on the off-chance that someone at Scopely reads this, let me put my thoughts out there. If this proceeds as shown, I will NEVER buy another MtX from you ever again. I routinely buy both passes every month. I was NOT happy about the OML stuff, but I sucked it up. Not this time. I will NOT buy these offers, no matter how much FOMO you try to shove down my damn throat. If this is the way the game is going to continue releases, I will simply stop playing and then you will have to explain to the Krakens and Whales why they have no one to play against but other Krakens and Whales. This is THE DUMBEST decision Scopely has ever made. I know the decision is already done and no amount of complaint is going to change it because your studio cannot shovel enough money into the fire pit, but I'm just adding my name to the list of people who are unhappy.

While I can see this will upset many people I also think this is all a matter of how you play the game. I have been playing since 2020 and I enjoy the game itself. I however had experience playing other mobile shard collector games before MSF and this is how they all are. So I had realistic goals from the beginning. I was completely F2P for the first 2 years and just grinded all events and managed my resources well. Last year when they made the strike pass decent I started to buy them. If you are trying to be on top of the leaderboards without being a big spender this is definitely going to hurt that market. I will continue to buy the strike passes that if they have what I need in them (i probably skip half of them) and just play casually like I have been for the past 3.5 years. I am ok with being a hard stuck gold CC player in a hard stuck platinum WAR guild. I will continue to play the game because I have never been sweated to be on top of any leader boards and if you shouldn't be sweated to either.

I'm in a moderate competitive alliance top 150-250 in most things and I quit spending and now I'm about to quit playing if more characters are behind a pay wall
I'm that 80$ a month "light" spender . I rarely buy characters . The game seemed Like it was becoming more player friendly but the past few months have gone the other way.
As an alliance leader in a top 100 raid and war alliance who has spent $700 per month on average during my time with the game, I will be quitting the game if Cpt Britain unlock is not changed to accommodate f2p.

I was a light spender, only buying passes and 50$ on new toon, but then i uninstalled the game because i got fed up with scopely bullshit. Now i'm glad i quit, it will just get worse!!
I've been playing this game since launch and I'm still constantly playing catch-up even with me playing 3 times a day because every new team dominates all so the old ones do not do anything anymore. What's worse is they give new players free new teams and not old players. Which now you have old players creating new accounts just so they can get these free new teams like free Spider Society. It is so messed up how they are running this game.
If Iron Man is going to Illuminati, then they should give War Machine a rework so he can replace him on the Bionic Avenger team. This is a no brainer, as War Machine uses a variant of Tony Starks armor, and he has been used as a drop in substitute for Iron Man in the comics, so there is a precedent for it.

They didn't stargate anything. Well, maybe they did, but it's nothing new. They were doing it with all the pre-scourge legendary characters. I'm 100% free to play and most legendary characters I had to wait until the second time they came around. And when comparing to Old Man Logan, most legendaries, I could only get to the 3-star or 4-star node. So when the event ended, I pretty much ended with a 3-star or 4-star legendary. The only difference, in the pre-scourges, the legendaries unlocked at 5-star. Scourges though, it varies from 3-star and 4-star. So even if the pre-scourges weren't 5-star unlocks, I would still have them at 3-star or 4-star. SAME AS OLD MAN LOGAN. Oh and then with the scourge legendaries, I could only get 3-star or 4-stars on them. At best 4.5-stars. Then I'd have to wait for the scourge to come around again to get more stars. SAME AS OLD MAN LOGAN. NOTHING has really changed except the path you are taking to get there. Everything ends up at the same destination (free to play will pretty much always end up at 3-stars or 4-stars while those that spend get 5+ stars). So everyone is wasting their time complaining, and everyone needs to stop being so dramatic. And NO I don't work for the developers, and I am NOT a bot. But I've been playing since Launch Day and I know what goes on.

Last winter it looked like things were turning around but something changed in March and ever since then its been getting worse and worse. If players don't fight this then its over for ftp and the beginning of the end for the game.

In the past, even when I spend $100 on a big unlock package for a new character, I only end up with them at four stars, but I am going to need these new characters at five stars. Does that mean I am going to be expected to spend $200 PER CHARACTER to be able to get Captain Britain????? Also, isn't there some kind of deadline when I'll need them at five stars to continue getting the next character in the series???
The first question and answer should be a staunch no for you. Being told to spend 200.00 for any character is insulting. In this case it's going to be a minimum of 200-400 for the entire team, realistically probably nearer 300ish to have characters, closer to 400 to have all 3 at 5 red stars.

In answer to Boomers questions, 5 stars, 5 stars, a shit ton, yes, majorly. For Dorky he will be the most expensive DPC character yet. As for the next legendary, I suspect that they will leave the "cheese the first node to get a basic unlock" option, but they will tweek the points so that you can't get the 5th star without all of the teams, named and unnamed.

I’m a light spender. And this is the first time I am seriously considering quitting. Already thought of the message I’m going to tell my alliance why I’m quitting. Cc was the one thing that made kept this game going now that it is also being F’d I think it’s time to go. I have bought characters in the past but no way will I buy a character to 5 stars. Let alone two to 5 yellow. They are getting too greedy now.

The biggest issue here is the vaulted term. No one knows what this means. ZIM was available FTP farmable 1 yr after release and ZUGGS still isnt farmable after 8 months. Cosmis crucible is many peoples favorite game mode despite it not being as rewarding as arena, raids, or even war. If they are going to gate your ability to compete for a year or who knows how long.....why even bother with this game mode. The weekly and season rewards are not worth the hassle. Which then is them shooting themselves in the foot. Why buy this team if all of the above is true.

The only thing I spend money on is the strike pass. That’s it and this is the end for the FTP mode, unless you want to spend a year grinding for a character, finally unlock him then figure out that the game has moved on to another character that is OP. Smfh🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
If you free to play don't core this character at all. Just suffer and he will be free to play later. We don't even need him and I cored Black Knight with 9k cores F2P and I actually regretted it because you could have gotten by with a 4-5 red Black Knight and still be competitive

I don't see why people think you can actually be competitive in these games without either:
1. Being incredibly rich or a content creator for the game.
2. Spending 99% of your free time playing f2p.
The complaining about it is getting pretty old. These companies will ALWAYS go the greedy route, and even if a game starts out not like that it will eventually devolve back to greedy.
They will alleviate the current out cry slightly like they did with horseman unlock method and when they realize it doesn't make them as much $$$ they will go right back to greedy AGAIN. It is a never-ending cycle, unfortunately.
I only had to spend $40 usd to get a 6 yellow OML, spending hundreds of dollars to get a non legendary. It seems ridiculous

Just on the off-chance that someone at Scopely reads this, let me put my thoughts out there. If this proceeds as shown, I will NEVER buy another MtX from you ever again. I routinely buy both passes every month. I was NOT happy about the OML stuff, but I sucked it up. Not this time. I will NOT buy these offers, no matter how much FOMO you try to shove down my damn throat. If this is the way the game is going to continue releases, I will simply stop playing and then you will have to explain to the Krakens and Whales why they have no one to play against but other Krakens and Whales.
This is THE DUMBEST decision Scopely has ever made. I know the decision is already done and no amount of complaint is going to change it because your studio cannot shovel enough money into the fire pit, but I'm just adding my name to the list of people who are unhappy.
Just step up your spending. They clearly want more of your money or either they haven’t been able to retain the amount of spenders they have lost. Never mind they have little to no content in this game to play. Buy all these great characters up for what? To run alliance war and potentially lose to a raid team on defense? All these private equity companies need to profit all the time to sell at higher price to the next private equity company that comes along and charge us more. Cycle never ends. They push the boundaries until we break or are broke. They don't care. I don't have a following, but we should organize a freeze week to force change. While I can see this will upset many people I also think this is all a matter of how you play the game. I have been playing since 2020 and I enjoy the game itself. I however had experience playing other mobile shard collector games before MSF and this is how they all are. So I had realistic goals from the beginning. I was completely F2P for the first 2 years and just grinded all events and managed my resources well. Last year when they made the strike pass decent I started to buy them. If you are trying to be on top of the leaderboards without being a big spender this is definitely going to hurt that market. I will continue to buy the strike passes that if they have what I need in them (i probably skip half of them) and just play casually like I have been for the past 3.5 years. I am ok with being a hard stuck gold CC player in a hard stuck platinum WAR guild. I will continue to play the game because I have never been sweated to be on top of any leader boards and if you shouldn't be sweated to either.

I'm that 80$ a month "light" spender . I rarely buy characters . The game seemed Like it was becoming more player friendly but the past few months have gone the other way.
Just left the game for good, had them delete my account so I wouldn't go back...over 2700 days playing and done because of things like this
As an alliance leader in a top 100 raid and war alliance who has spent $700 per month on average during my time with the game, I will be quitting the game if Cpt Britain unlock is not changed to accommodate f2p.

I've been playing this game since launch and I'm still constantly playing catch-up even with me playing 3 times a day because every new team dominates all so the old ones do not do anything anymore. What's worse is they give new players free new teams and not old players. Which now you have old players creating new accounts just so they can get these free new teams like free Spider Society. It is so messed up how they are running this game.
It's terrible, game was doing fine enough, but making millions isn't enough for companies anymore, you have to make millions of millions
If Iron Man is going to Illuminati, then they should give War Machine a rework so he can replace him on the Bionic Avenger team. This is a no brainer, as War Machine uses a variant of Tony Starks armor, and he has been used as a drop in substitute for Iron Man in the comics, so there is a precedent for it.

They didn't stargate anything. Well, maybe they did, but it's nothing new. They were doing it with all the pre-scourge legendary characters. I'm 100% free to play and most legendary characters I had to wait until the second time they came around. And when comparing to Old Man Logan, most legendaries, I could only get to the 3-star or 4-star node. So when the event ended, I pretty much ended with a 3-star or 4-star legendary. The only difference, in the pre-scourges, the legendaries unlocked at 5-star. Scourges though, it varies from 3-star and 4-star. So even if the pre-scourges weren't 5-star unlocks, I would still have them at 3-star or 4-star. SAME AS OLD MAN LOGAN. Oh and then with the scourge legendaries, I could only get 3-star or 4-stars on them. At best 4.5-stars. Then I'd have to wait for the scourge to come around again to get more stars. SAME AS OLD MAN LOGAN. NOTHING has really changed except the path you are taking to get there. Everything ends up at the same destination (free to play will pretty much always end up at 3-stars or 4-stars while those that spend get 5+ stars). So everyone is wasting their time complaining, and everyone needs to stop being so dramatic. And NO I don't work for the developers, and I am NOT a bot. But I've been playing since Launch Day and I know what goes on.
