    I actually like those small bags of cereal. They may not be a "good deal" but they're very convenient to take on weekend camping trips or to a hotel room, because they take up almost no room, and won't go stale before you can eat it all.

    • @christinakasper8217

      I like the cereal too because I'm sick of my kids opening one huge box of cereal that cost almost 10 bucks have one bowl and then they decide they don't want to eat the rest of it or take forever to eat it and then it goes stale. So I save ten bucks 😂

    Those small things of cereal are at Dollar General for $1. I love this bc they limit my daughter who tends to overeat to the point of sickness. In fact many of the things I used to get at DT, I get at my local Dollar General bc they are $1

    You’re right Bethany. Comparison shopping is the issue. Not everything at DT is a bargain. But if you only need a small amount DT certainly fills that bill. My dollar tree often is out of stock on items so I still have to shop somewhere else.

    • @k.anderson5039
      @k.anderson5039 8 месяцев назад +5

      I really don’t like when YTs make these type of DT videos. They don’t take into account that not everyone needs industrial size cereal & not to mention many people don’t want their kids eating Lucky Charms- they can buy this as a treat that last a day or two. Others don’t have kids or big families or maybe bring smaller quantities to work & don’t want stale food. Sometimes you buy something you rarely use so it not a better deal to spend more to get more especially liquids that dry up or expire. They sell a glue similar to Gorilla Glue that is in smaller size & is WAY better deal than as it stays fresh. By the time you get halfway thru GG it’s hard & cont squeeze it- the metal is bent & breaking. Last, they forget that if it wasn’t $1.25 people would buy it. I bought zip ties from DT 5+ years ago & still have half about 15. You can see I don’t really need them but they have been handy a few times. Had they been $5 I probably would not have got them as cost wasn’t worth it

    • @KathyAnn1978
      @KathyAnn1978 8 месяцев назад +2

      @k.anderson5039 She says don't buy the cereal there unless you need a small quantity. That goes with anything there. These types of videos are good for educating those who think Dollar Tree is a good bargain because they're only looking at the price, not the quality or how much you get for the price.

  • @TrickeryISee
    @TrickeryISee 8 месяцев назад +19

    Obviously, you will get cheaper quality at Dollar tree. However, the purpose is to give people on a low budget
    the opportunity to buy household essentials, food and personal. I agree with Bethany Walmart is a step up for quality. Presently, Walmart prices have raised with the economy. People have to shop within their budget. Dollar tree has been a blessing to me

      I totally agree with you. Sometimes DT is all a person can afford. Like in my case Target(I do love Target) is WAY out of my way. It's just not worth the gas and time to go all the way there. When you have a limited budget Dollar Tree can be a life saver.

    Hi Bethany! I do buy many of the items you mentioned not to buy. For me it works to buy those things because
    1. I’m on a fixed income 2. I’m single, so I don’t need large amounts of stuff. 3. I get tired sometimes and don’t want to walk around a giant Walmart. So I know I’m paying for convenience. 🙂

      Thank u was just going to say something similar. I’m disabled and live on a small budget and I live alone. While there are things I wouldn’t buy there like electronics I would buy a lot of other stuff. I also unless I’m in a pinch wouldn’t get TP there. I did get paper towels there for awhile but did find a better deal @walmart. I get 2 ok rolls now for the same price I’d get 2 separate rolls at $ tree and there better. Their still generic but a better generic brand. I’ve also never bought anything out of the freezer section. Since I’m on disabled not only am I on a budget I also receive a small amount of food stamps so I have to be very careful with them and my cash.

    I like going to Dollar tree and buy my candle vessels for my business. They have awesome coloring book, reading and work books for kids that are from Disney, Nicolodian, Marvel etc. I've seen holiday decor that is the same exact replica as Hobby Lobby for over $10 🤯. I love buying their holiday socks, theme dinner wear, small Kleenex tissues, mixing bowl for my pancake batter, etc. When I had a Lego theme party for my son, I bought almost all of my supplies there and some cute Lego toys for the party favors. I love their gift bags, large selection of cards 2 x $1. I've bought my laundry detergent, dawn dish soap, carpet deodorizer. I also love the 99 cents store for my dish sponges and cleaning brushes are wonderful and way cheaper and excellent quality. The Dollar tree and the 99 cents store are a life saver for many homeless people too I've seen them buying bread, bologna, peanut butter, full size shampoo, deodorants, toothpaste, etc and way more affordable than any other store. If I was homeless too, that would be my go to store.

Many of my clients, unfortunately, can walk to a Dollar Tree vs. getting on a bus and spending time (and money) to get to an actual grocery store, or even a Walmart. Hi Tanya! I 100% agree. I talked about that a little when I mentioned 5 below and the headphones. I also talked about that a lot more in a different “What not to buy at Dollar Tree” video. Sometimes it’s about convenience and accessibility. The closest store near me once upon a time was a Dollar Tree. Was a 2 minute walk from my house. If I needed something in a pinch or didn’t feel like traveling, I’d get it from there. The convenience of walking there so quickly was easier then getting on a bus (didn’t have a car at this time) and traveling somewhere else. I understand there’s different circumstances. No offense taken by your comment! ❤ Have a wonderful day. 😊

Its more practical to buy a smaller amount that i will use up (before it goes bad) than to buy a bigger amount at a regular store, only to have it go bad before i can use it all...that is a waste of money in the long run. But.......electronics, toys, rugs, off brand makeup and off brand food items are a no-no for me.

All big box stores are from 1 to 8 hours away from me so not a option. The only other store in my town is family Dollar but it doesn't carry anything that the tree used to carry. I agree some DT products in every isle are not worth 1.25 you have to be picky what you get

    We use the rubber backed carpets I had gotten from Dollar Tree when I worked for them. They keep the bird food and his accidents off my floor. Yes, I have a large macaw

    Well done video. I like that you compared the Dollar Tree prices to mainstream stores. It is also great that you pointed out positive items at DT or stores with comparable items. I’ve always been a Barbie girl and stay on the lookout for Barbie items or items that are the right scale to use for Barbie (1:6).
    A toy comparison video would be great too.

    Oh ...target prices...i do not shop for fiod st target... Many items much higher than some other stores. But fir a senior citizen and visiting grandchildren...dollar tree is just fine at my home. I've had my $ tree pans gor 3 years now. Use em for pizza & covers for pots to decoration crafts. But i do research ehi has what fir prices. Then im on a safari. Or, delivery 👍👍👍

    I really agree with you ! The prices increased ( that extra 25 cents adds up )and the amount in packages....has really decreased! Im older ...yes i do buy some things because im just not up to the walk in wal mart....also theres not near as much to choose from...depending on what part of the country ...you do not get great items...now theres a 3.00. And 5.00 isles....might as well go to a general dollar or family dollar. I agree with Bethany.....

    Sometimes the DT stores in my area get really good paper towels but they sell ASAP so if I see them I stock up. Cereal, too, they usually get in big boxes! Most canned veges aren't a good deal, but once in a while they get larger cans (like Libby pineapple or name-brand tomatoes) that make $1.25 a great deal. I do compare prices but also consider convenience and driving time/distance. I don't have a Walmart very near me, and the other days most of their check stands were closed so there was a LONG line of full baskets at one, and people were starting to just leave their full carts behind.

    Just throwing this out there- The Home Depot has a brand of paper towels Called HDX they are compared to Bounty and you can get 6 GIANT rolls which compared to 15 giant rolls for $13.58 and if you’re in a pinch a single roll is 98 cents. I use to be a VIVA paper towel snob, but these HDX are the best. (IMO)

    Look I know some things at dollar tree are a better value elsewhere but I’m tired and if I’m already at d tree I’m gonna buy it. Once I was going to a party later on on and I was already at d tree, so for my snack I decided to buy individual bags of skinny pop. Look I know it costs 7x as much but I only have so much energy. 🤣 I would never buy headphones at dollar tree, you’re right about that one.

    Halloween candy at DT is way more expensive than Walmart. The movie box style of candy at DT I will go for that. The Tylenol and Motrin or ibuprofen at DT is no way. The Equate brand of them is way cheaper.
