Wonderful analysis, admirable knowledge and intuition by Paul Roberts. Also, I love Daniel Barenboim the conductor so much more compared to the Daniel Barenboim, the pianist. Last not least the video composition was great and professional as always from EuroArts. Thank you so much!

Sorry, my remark about Barenboim is not at all meant as a ‘criticism.’ I said the same about Vladimir Ashkenazy, but still, the young Ashkenazy, especially his Rachmaninov and his Chopin, was much more meaningful to me than the pianist Barenboim-who could never convince me of his pianistic achievements. Sorry, but our feelings are always subjective … I have no voice to tell anything ‘authoritative’ about him.

Your comment about Debussy using La Mer as a symbol for our primal origins... really? I know Debussy was an athiest, but from what source(s) did you draw this conclusion?

What? Why, how,? How are you bringing religion into this? I am truly baffled

Ofcourse it doesnt have to do anything with religion xD its about how all life came from the sea and the way that his music is about the life of sound itself- how it is born from nowhere, it rises and dies gradualy and smoothly. His mothives and themes work on the same principle, unlike other compositors before him that gave their musical themes a big role in developing a musical work. Debussy wrote music for the beauty of the sound itself and its changes of form, refering that the sea is in the state constant changing and the life in general...

@@dreamer_4937 What would they say if they did? :D Saying that all things come from the sea i didnt mean in the litteral sense, i ment that sea and water in general is crucial for life on Earth. Debussy represented the sea as it is, without any specific program. It is like when impresionist painters begun to pay attention more to color itself and how people perceive it rather than the story. That can be compared to how religious people are too concerned with the biblical stories rather than looking at world as it is.

I love Europe. 💜 Edit: UK, you've got to entertain reasonable thought again - get a new political class, stop trainwreck Brexit and rejoin EU.
