I worked for KFC in the Los Angeles area from 1968 to 1972. I left as an Assistant Manager working 56 hours a week for a salary of $450 per month. The snak-pak was one piece of chicken, a roll and a small side of either Cole slaw or mashed potatoes and gravy for 59 cents. The 2 piece snak was 89 cents, and a 3 piece dinner with 2 rolls and both sides was $1.29. My store in Culver City was closest to Collin’s Foods International, the majority franchise holder for Southern California. We prepared the food for TV commercials and catered Beverly Hills frequently. My store helped to perfect the process for the crispy fried chicken introduced in 1973.

Loved this! My Mother worked for KFC in the 70's. She was a jack of all trades there. She could run the restaurant by herself if needed! I have a photo of her and Colonel Sanders , she has on a starched white shirt with the Colonel black string bow tie. When she started she had the red and white striped top. I also have a pressure cooking pot that was gifted to her. After my mother started working there we never had her fried chicken again! Only bad part of her working there was her coming home smelling like KFC! Ty Jordan! Great to Jah ♥️ Safe travels ❤️

I actually met the Colonel in the 70s. I don't remember much, but I left thinking how nice he was and how white he was with the suit and hair, he patted me on the head and said how proud he was with his service to people and his hard work. My mother had the sense to actually have a bucket signed by him I still have. Loved the video!

I met the Colonel when I was 7 or 8 years old. I was playing with my trucks on a construction site in Winnipeg Canada. I think they were building the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Manitoba if not Canada. So a convertible pulled up with two men in the car. The old white geezer in the funny clothes ask me what I was doing. Just playing, was my reply. A couple of years later I realized that that was the Colonel visiting the site. The restaurants were sit down affairs in those days and the take out was a smaller part. And the food was really good then, unlike today.

dave thomas the late founder of the fast food restaurant got his start at kentucky fried chicken & the real colonel sanders before opening his own fast food chain. Before opening his own franchise, Dave Thomas Worked As A Head Cook at a Hobby House restaurant, the line of restaurants that would eventually become Kentucky Fried Chicken.

This was great. Their attention to detail when it came to sharing his story is amazing. I grew up having his chicken and love his story. What an inspiring guy. You are SO right about him probably being upset about the number of people in line, the wait to get your order, just everything that didn't fit with how he wanted things to be done. Kind of miss that kind of dedication these days. Fun vlog.

I grew up in a very small town in Southern Ohio. The KFC we had there had a very big chicken made of concrete out in front and every year it was "borrowed" and placed at one of he schools during football season. I have no idea how or how many people it took to move it. I think they only caught them one time. Another great video Jordan. Thanks for taking us along with you. Hoping Jah is doing better. Much love

Jordan, have you heard of Lee’s famous recipe chicken? I live in Northern Kentucky and being you lived close to Cincinnati I thought maybe you’ve been there or heard of it. It’s actually Colonel Sanders nephew who started it when he had a falling out with his Uncle. It’s a pretty cool story and I thought maybe you’d be interested in looking into it. Love the channel! Very interesting to see this, as it is unlikely I will ever get to Corbin, KY, to see it for myself. And I suspect you are right that the Col. would not have been happy about the slow service. He was a hothead with a bad temper. My favorite story about him is from his brief time as a young lawyer, one of the jobs not mentioned on the plaque. He was disbarred for getting into a fistfight in a courthouse, with his own client!

Is the Colonel’s old home still a museum?
Also, Did Dave Thomas, who later started Wendy’s, help develop the bucket concept?

Jordan did you know that when he was just starting out in business shortly, it was too much for the Colonel and his wife to handle he came up with the bright idea of getting a server and someone to clear the dishes from the table. So, are you ready......he hired his mistress. LOL It worked out very well because they were together for many years. I heard this on Biography on the channel and I wonder what his wife was like to go for t he business. Have a great dy.

I was also thinking that the Col. would be losing his mind if he saw how things are today. The food is gross and greasy, the workers act like they are doing you a favor by taking your order, and the restaurants are disgusting. I used to love KFC but that time passed about 20 years ago. Now its the Colonels disappointment.
