Hello! My wife and I look forward to visiting in the middle of May. We hear there are recommendations to hire e-bikes to take a ride from Garmisch to Eibsee. Has anyone taken this trip and are there recommendations/insights? One thing I am interested in is how can we separate ourselves from the bikes for a while to do some hiking around the lake. Travelling to Munich next May for 3 days. Want a few information. In that time will there be scattered snow on top of the dolomite structure?! Is it possible to return to Munich by evening after completing this lake tour on the same day?!
Hey! Thanks for watching! Yes, during May there will be scattered snow on top of these mountains (Zugspitze, and its neighbours). You can easily do this as a day trip from Munich.
You can do this trip using a Bayern ticket which is valid for all kinds of public transport in the state of Bayern for a day. We purchased it online. It covers the train from Munich to Garmisch and back.

Yes, there is a dedicated bus (called Eibsee bus) which takes you from Garmisch Partenkirchen station to Eibsee.
