Sand Art - Techniques

Sand art and animation is a course from IDC, IIT Bombay. Sand is a very fascinating material to experiment with in the field of art whether be it performing live or animating it frame by frame. Sand generally used is beach sand or colour sand. In the case of coloured sand, one need to keep white light in the background so that the colour pops up clearly. Different textures can be used to have an impression of what one visualizes. Other ways are texting in the sand with different lines. Depending on what you want to do you can use different types of techniques, you can take a pinch of sand and makes strokes or add fine detail to it. You can also draw on it by using brushes, combs or other tools.
