  • MOUNTAIN GOLD AUSTRALIA - EPISODE 5 - A GOLDEN TRACE
EPISODE DESCRIPTION - A GOLDEN TRACE
An invitation to an extraordinary property on the Great Divide, has made this episode possible. Join me in this intriguing journey, as I explore a Mountain Creek that rises above an Abandoned Gold Rush Area. Despite it's close proximity to the main mining activity, it appears to have been ignored by the Old Timers... and of course, curiosity got the better of me. At it's base, I found a substantial Trace of Gold and the degree of Proliferation was such as to strongly suggest further investigation was wanting. So join me as I follow this Golden Trace and, while doing so, not only reveal the secrets of this Mountain Creek but also Discover it's potential.
SERIES DESCRIPTION - MOUNTAIN GOLD AUSTRALIA
Stretching along the Eastern Seaboard of Australia from the tip of Cape York in Far North Queensland to the Grampians of Western Victoria in the South of the continent, the Great Dividing Range has hosted countless GOLD RUSHES over the last 150 years.
Join me, in this, my New Series "MOUNTAIN GOLD AUSTRALIA" in which, as it unfolds, I hope to take you on an epic journey as I PROSPECT the Mountain Country of the Great Divide of Eastern Australia.
Of the thousands of Creeks, Rivers, Ridges, Gullies and Flats that yielded up their treasures during the Gold Rush years, many records have now been lost in time. For every record we have today of every notable find, rush and lucky strike, it is most likely that, either by neglect, loss or just simple lack of reporting, there are probably 10 more that we will never know of... these are THE LOST; and what of those areas that were altogether missed by the Old Timers and yet still lie un-discovered and un-disturbed... these are THE UNKNOWNS.
I believe there remain two Golden Frontiers in Australia; in the West, where vast Rivers of Quartz & Ironstone spread out far beyond sun burnt horizons, known to us as the Goldfields of Western Australia; and in the East, those Forgotten and Untouched areas within the Mountain Country of the Great Divide.
In this series, it is these LOST and UNKNOWNS that I seek in the Mountain Country of Eastern Australia.
As we journey, I will endeavor to employ the OLD TIMERS search methods and where possible, follow their most likely courses of action upon any discoveries of note; and if possible, employ their methods of extraction and processing, within the constraints of "Todays" legal boundaries.
So come and join me as I prospect the MOUNTAIN COUNTRY of Eastern AUSTRALIA

That is an excellent video you created there. It's probably the best one I've ever seen hunting down the source via sampling. From my experience at 9 minutes you're standing on a hypothermal zone. And a thermal zone usually covers a large area. So stringers or little veins or little reefs are releasing those chunks of gold. So you have a hard rock mine all around you when you're standing at 9 minutes. Yes sir ... this is a fantastic video. Time to bring in an excellent metal detector. I wish I were there with you. Are some of those trees, madrone trees?

You're a strong person and that helps.

Another fantastic and informative video mate, love it.
I am really excited to see the results of the loaming process and discovering the source.

i have watched many of your videos mate. A fine series you have pulled off here. One of the best I have seen in Aus in terms of following the narrative through from start to end. I hope you make another one or two loaming to the source. Wonder if it is an old drift or a reef.. Thanks for all the info and the inspiration mate, you have helped a lot in the learning. Keep up the great work!

One year post of making your video
    Question
After you had found the 20 Meter pin point where the gold had been trapped, did you ever found the source up the hill ( quarts reef))???

Could you do a video on where non locals can roam around up in North QLD. Apparently there's a bit of hoohar around the Palmerville area. Would like to get up that way as I'm a Queenslander but have been discouraged to do so. Cheers

I did make a video (4 years ago) on How to Find Gold Locations in QLD using the QLD Globe (the QLD Mines Departments online research tool at the time), but unfortunately it is now obsolete, as are the following 2 platforms that came after it. Unfortunately, QLD mines keeps changing the platform...making it pointless to make a new video. Sorry, but that's why I haven't made one. Regards Aussie

hey could you not use one of those gold cube machines with the pump that recycles the water they only run on a bin full of water when you are at a dry creek ? i thought they were a great idea small light easy to carry & only run on about 40l of water ,have you used one ? i just wondered if they were any good on not .
