      @Dennis The Only Solution not quite sure where you get 54grams from, but for the record, 56 Grams actually equals 1.8004 Troy Ounces being: 56 divided by 31.103 (1 troy Oz) = 1.8004

      To bad you couldnt set a puddle box up above your sluce with a 6"x3" door . That way you can turn it all to a liquid open the door and feed it rt out into your sluce .👍

    Aussie Bloke what a beautiful set up mate. I’ve just turned 50;and I’ve made me mind up. I owe me home and I’m over working for the man so to speak. I’ve always had fun prospecting with the Kids and my beautiful wife. So I. Going full time buddy. It’s just the life style. Yeah it can be hard work and at times shit happens. But I believe it’s the perfect time. I got some good funds in the bank. I’ve got me 9th but reliable caravan. All my gear. But this has sold me this sir. I’ll be Prospecting with the metal detectors. Plus say I bring 400 kms of perishables I’ll bring back 400kms of ore. And the set up I’ll have at home will be me job. Classifying and learning what works best. Plus’s I can give me self a good 5 years of practice, learning adjusting and live what I know 100% would be a humble but successful HAPPY LIFESTYLE. GOOD ONYA BUDDY.👌🇦🇺

    Unlike a spray bar with holes on the sluice you use the bucket which gives you an extra riffle to catch gold and a place for the water to start agitating the surface tension of rock!

    Love the low tech way mate. It’s nice to see hard work and safety. I wont mention channel names, but a guy (US company) has $25000 setups to do it all in a half day. Rock crusher, grinder, wet shaker table,clouds of silica dust and doesn’t even barely use a dust mask. Good on ya for being safe and keen to break it the old hard way to show us how the common man would do it.
    Edit loved every minute of this video. Thank you 👍

    Absolutely love your videos - thank you. I built a rock crusher about 5 years ago to do the same thing as your Keene. I run mine off a 240volt electric motor ( in the bush it runs off a generator) the shaft which has hardened steel hammers chained to it (not really hammers but the grab claws off truck chain tie-downs) , it rotates at 1400rpm so it destroys the rocks in no time. It is hard work but at the same time a really enjoyable labour of love crushing ore.

    That is some very rich ore for sure. The coarseness of the gold also makes it nice. The project I am currently working on has 80% passing 8.6 microns (about 2000 mesh). This gold won't even settle in water- to say nothing of concentrate! I'm jealous.
    I suspect that if you crushed all your left overs to 100 mesh, and used something better for super fine gold than a sluice, you could still get several ounces per ton out of your tailings.

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  3 года назад

      2000 mesh...Wow that's ludicrously fine... and I suspected the same, so re-crushed and came up with a Vibrating Sluice setup to do just that. (the video released after this one). Regards Aussie

    Great video, very informative. I have a much smaller scale operation going in my garage blue bowls and lots of classifying. I spend my time out bush getting the pay dirt then bringing it back. Noise is my issue.....crushing quartz quietly is near impossible , I dont want to piss my neighbors off. When you've got it 30 mesh, have you ever thought of passing it through a leaf blower as part of the separation process ? would that not blow most of the waste off making the sluicing process easier ? I'd be interested in your opinion. Cheers Doc

  • @ianmoone2359

    Really educational, and very high grade ore, if 150 kilos yields an ounce and a half then your around 10 ounces per tonne which is super high grade ore.
    An ounce a tonne is worth mining & processing, so 10 ounces per tonne is super high grade ore.
    My only observation is that perhaps you’d get a little more if you cyanide leached your tailings to get whatever passes through the wet plant, and if you used a jaw crusher and ball mill you could take out a lot of the re-crushing steps.
    Can I ask do you get your quartz ore by detecting and saving “hot rocks” that the detector locates over time -or is this reef quartz that you have specifically excavated from an old mine or something?
    Just unusual to have such high grade ore is all.

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  4 года назад +2

      Cheers mate. Sometimes I find an area like the place you mentioned that is so prolific with Quartz, that I find myself saying “how can there not be Gold here”, but the reality is that Quartz is literally the most common rock on the Globe, and only a very very small percentage of it carries Gold. The Oldtimers used to do a lot of Knapping; they’d find a likely Quartz occurrence and sit there with a hammer breaking pieces to find a visual show of colour. If you find small random piles of Quartz in the Bush then most likely an Oldtimer was knapping. Generally they did this close to or within vicinity of a “known occurrence and in an area where they reckoned it was a fair chance of results. At the very least, take a few small samples first and crush them and pan them off... that’ll tell you if it’s worth crushing bulk amounts. All the best. Regards Aussie

    a series of rollers like a hot dog heater, layered over one another with spaces between bigger at the top tier, this is a dry or wet sleuce that will bring gold between the rollers and even roll it into balls while rocks and other stuff pass and fall through

    a silly question if collecting ore ;how do you know witch rocks ,i go to a creek and pan and get gold ,,,,so do those rocks in the creek contain gold also,,,,your advise is sought thanks

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  3 года назад

      There are certain rocks which contain or carry gold, mostly igneous like quartz and ironstone. If there is either of these 2 about there is always a chance there may be gold about. Having said that, quartz is about the most common rock in the world...and it's presence does not guarantee gold, but indicates the possibility that it is about. Regards Aussie

    Gold is a very soft metal. Quartz is a hard rock. The Keene impact
    crusher method results in quite a bit of gold coated sand unless the gold is alloyed with silver or copper which are harder metals.
    What would you estimate your recovery loss? If only we could find gold in softer rock the impact method would be ideal.

    • @AussieBlokeProspector
      @AussieBlokeProspector  4 года назад +2

      Interesting point you raise. Regarding the fine crushed material, I estimate the recovery loss at around 5%, however I don't believe that is solely due to the gold coating the sand, but rather a combination of super fine gold escaping the sluice, and gold still trapped within the material as well as the coating you refer to... Why 5%?... because as an experiment and for curiosity sake, I actually dried and re-crushed the fine crushings down to 100-200 mesh and then ran the resulting material through a vibration bed and recovered a further 1 gram which represents about 5%. Of course without the use of mercury and cyanide, 100% recovery will never be achieved. Now that extra gram, took 2 days to recover, so in the light of economy for effort, hardly worth the time, but none the less assuring me that my recovery rate is within a comfortable 90-95% range which considering the equipment available I'm happy with. Regards Aussie

      @@AussieBlokeProspector I was guessing %65 to %80 over here, alot of silver in the mix. I examined the tailings with a loupe and I got plenty of gold coated sand. Goldfields LTD. out of South Africa had and used a natural harmless to man method of extracting gold from ore they say.
      I wonder if the method makes sense for small scale miners. That would be safe way to test the tailings. Interesting video. Thank you.

    💎💎💎Aussie Bloke Prospector💎💎💎 I might have an improvement on your water distribution at the bucket. Try it, install a rake or comb as, (Austrailians use different names for words as Us Americans) okay so mount across like a gate flow and adjust with a large to small rake. Would act more like a rapids water effect. Great gold recovery mate. Let us know how you like the water flow improvement. If you like it, make us a video. Cheers. 💎💎💎
