-200k might be career-ending for the great majority of content creators. But for a massive 15million sub empire like LTT? That's hardly what I'd call a "downfall".
Yep, on top of this they are in an entirely different league to a channel like mkbhd despite them having more subscribers because they post content daily instead of weekly so viewer count per video doesn't matter as much.
it's only a 1.3% reduction😂
Yup, completely downfall and end-of-career... Not sure what Linus will be doing now without a quarter of his pocket-change... I mean, seriously his last videos had more than a few million views in the first couple of hours!
Ridiculous sensationalism, indeed.
Bro the downfall is reputation based and not subscriber based.
It’s been 2 months since this video was uploaded and I’ve yet to notice Linus’ downfall.
it came back to normal. I've noticed they fact checking especially in shortcircuit videos. It's not as janky anymore...
This channel tried farming hard 😂😂😂
The reports of Linus' death were greatly exaggerated.
They're not losing too much that they'll go bankrupt or anything. If there is such "downfall", I'm guessing it's all behind-the-curtain issues such as management, sponsorship, HRD, cashflows, company planning, policies, investment, etc. It is still quite a nightmare for a company to make some adjustments on the micro level.
I think we all learned to never hire anyone who self-harms though, lest they fire back with "look what you made me do!"

I am of the mind that if a person allows their company to become this toxic and corrupt, a wake up call won't make any meaningful changes because decency and ethics aren't a part of that person's values.

If getting over a million views on almost every video is a downfall, I'm sure many YT'ers would love to fail in this way.
I think more importantly is he lost the trust of his viewers. He's been in a slow decline for the last year. He needs to make some changes
I watch a lot of LTT, both before and after the controversy. I've always been the type to look up multiple reviews, but I do tend to favor some reviewers over others. Despite knowing some of the inaccuracies in LTT's testing, I still rated their reviews pretty highly.
After this however, despite the fact that I continue to watch their content (literally watched a video just before this one), I can safely say that I no longer hold their reviews highly in anyway. In fact, I now find myself actively looking for inconsistencies between LTT's and other reviewers even if I don't intend to.
So yes. I generally believe this "downfall" is quite significant. Integrity and trust is pretty important in the tech review field. Losing it is a massive shit stain that likely won't go away any time soon.
@@jordanliszewski6549 What decline? His numbers are back up and going strong lol.

TLDR is every channel on youtube that doesn't put data first is so full of shit (and themselves) that they create drama when their position is challenged.
They started with building an expensive lab to "Accurately" test products but then fudged numbers when in time crunches which wasn't much news until someone from their labs team said that their data was better than another youtuber who had been known for excellent testing, then they were given a prototype of a product to review and they ended up auctioning it off when the company who made it didn't give them permission to. True. The average person is very stupid and loves being used and manipulated by those above them. Even the average voting patterns in most countries demonstrates this.

I've missed this entire spectacle, but if anything people should learn in taking advice: Never follow just one channels reviews. It helps a lot to put some time and thought into a product to see if it's something for you. My last purchase for my computer was a case, for better airflow and water build. I watched many channels for a better break down of the product and even then, I missed a few things. Just watching one channel should never be enough to provide enough information for a purchase.
I can tell you that all the accusations from Madison soup is made up whole cloth. It follows the formula perfectly. Make vague accusations against unnamed people and use slippery language to do it. There is a reason she did not report "criminal behavior" to the police. She doesn't want anyone who can both ask questions and compel others to answer.
It's funny because that is something Linus always said: don't get all your information from a single source.
Yup
@@1zui Was about to say the same, Linus and Luke have said probably hundreds of times on WAN Show "Never listen to just one source; including us"

The fact this small RUclipsr that has nothing to compare to Linus is going against him for simple mistakes, is so crazy. And the sponsorship money with it, wrong move.
It's always a great idea when you're buying anything, to do proper research and check the facts/benchmarks/rumours/stuff from several sources. Never trust just one source for anything!
Used to do that when i was a kid, 25 years ago, world was quite different back then and you actually had to read literal magazines, do your research and check with friends. It was time consuming as well but it was fun and when you are 13 you have all the time in the world.
Now after 25+ years, working in tech as a manager, i really dont have time and patience for this, luckily the marked have evolved so i just buy bunch of stuff online, play with it a bit to see what gives me the best user experience for the buck and after i return all the rest.
Sometimes playing with the toys i realize they are really good but also that i really dont have time or use for them so i return them as well.
To be honest I'm mostly using my phone or my corporate laptop, not turning on my personal PC i have build from scrap at all, maybe once per two weeks to play some old stuff for a hour or two.
Instead of burning my time with nerdy stuff i rather go out for a proper dinner, for a walk with my dogs or just go for some nice vacation to Dubai.
Over the time when i was obssesed by tech just for the fact its a tech i really could not care less about the tech, I'm now only about the user experience.
that's why it's called research. If someone doing purchase on the impulse, it's not some youtuber problem....to be honest
I always do this. Even if I want to see some minor detail on the plastic of a product, I will watch several unboxing videos just to make sure that they all have the same product.

Downfall is a strong word here. It was definitely a wake up call for all of them. Especially Linus. He did do a considerable introspection to right his ship, AFTER all the shit was dumped directly over his head, but he did do something. Probably why the community gave him a chance.
This is how I'm seeing it. They screwed up, but at least seem to have tried to do something about it. Nobody is perfect, and yes they made a few fuck-ups along the way, but Linus is one single human being. I don't watch him much to be honest, but I'm willing to give him a chance.
I think part of the reason the community gave him a chance - from longer discussions - is that all this drama happened while he was already stepping down as CEO.
So when he said "yeah there will be changes" no one had to take it on faith. It was already pretty clear changes were happening, and in some lights the criticisms of the company seemed unfair because things were already in flux.
Downfall is a clickbate title, nothing more lol even if he lost the channel altogether, he's pretty much won youtube already. He is a winner.

Like how he made an email a day after GN mentioned they sold the billet labs block he claimed it was "auctioned off" yet later on he says he compensated billet immediately after he learned he sold it without permission. I will also say that Linus's fear of losing their high spot on youtube has also induced the heavy crunch his entire team mentions and has lead to these problems. Even the billet labs video was caused by crunch as he didn't feel like spending a few hundred bucks to grab the right GPU for a proper test and then openly calling the product trash to the world.
The warranty issue was always a waste of time. I agree with Linus that warranties are a cheesy system with many cases they have so many back doors that almost nothing is actually covered by them. Like how I had headphones with a warranty, but that warranty does not cover drops, blowing up from excessive power, and has a cut off of 6 months for wear. What's the point? I don't really follow big channels like LTT or MKBHD for purchasing guidance as a techie myself, I always look more into end-user testimonials, as well as purchasing records and failure data. From what I've learned RUclips channels sure do have glossy reviews, but they don't really run deep into issues as they can only test from the perspective of using it fresh and not really on the daily basis like most consumers do. Say phone reviews, they say they use it as a daily driver, but that only lasts for a couple of weeks, then issues come in after a 2-3 months that's why consumer reviews are better than influencer reviews
I think yes and no, at the end of the day a mixture is best imo.
Aside from the huge issue that is bought user reviews, they can carry a lot of personal bias. And while there are some aspects to tech that are subjective, a lot really isn't. I think a user review of let's say a GPU is pretty much useless compared to a more professional one that runs different benchmarks.
And I don't think phones are really that different. Sure, you should check whether there have been issues in regards to longievity if you are looking at a product that has been out for a while. But it's not like you cannot make a judgement on most if not all the features of a phone after daily driving it for a couple weeks. I would even flip the script here and argue that I much rather trust someone like MKBHD to test every aspect of a phone in a month over some random user having a phone in a year. Because I am a random user and I would certainly miss something or not be enough of an expert to give a good opinion about let's say the quality of the microphone.
Which also ties into points of reference. For Mike, who upgraded his phone after 3 years, his new camera might be top-tier, the best camera he has ever seen. Simply because he cannot compare it to any other recent phone. While someone that tests these phones for a living can tell you exactly where this phone ranks in different scenarios. How let's say the iPhone gives you great Instagram shots but isn't necessary the best for photographers given it's immense boosting of colors to make images get that Instagram-pop.
I don't believe in 'review all' types of channels like Linus Tech Tips. If I want a professionally thorough review of a product, I watch niche channels whose content is dedicated to purely reviewing these types of products.
LTT is not used for purchase decisions lol. They are literally entertainment first and almost only with a few stats sprinkled in. IT's always funny to see people who actually think they are more than entertainment. It is literally made to get views and that is it, it is simple. Not as simple as many people here but still quite simple.
Most of the popular TechTubers just aren't as technical as they make themselves out to be. Most of their videos have a focus on world-class cinematography and editing while keeping the actual technical info relatively surface-level. It's designed to be easily digestible for the majority of viewers who aren't particularly knowledgeable in the product category being covered, and that extends to the vast majority of "techy people" who really aren't as knowledgeable as they may think.
This becomes pretty apparent with audio products, an industry where the average level of knowledge is damn near zero and those who take it seriously are a dedicated minority. TechTubers rarely have any real knowledge on audio and I struggle to take their reviews seriously. I don't expect them to be that knowledgeable but it becomes a problem when they start to assert themselves as authoritative figures on the topic and pass off their ill-informed opinions as fact.
ATH-M50X. Sony's WH-1000X series. Nothing Ear 1. Beats Studio Pro. soundcore Space One. What do these all have in common? They all have rather poor audio quality but were shot into popularity with casual audiences thanks to (oftentimes paid) coverage from popular TechTubers and other mainstream media who don't know any better.
