As an Iranian, I don't like a series who want to show our nuclear program developed for war purposes. But as an internet user: She spoke Farsi well enough.
I realize you might not appreciate seeing your nuclear program as bomb-seeking - but that is exactly what it is. This has been shown many times, in many ways. Including a few years ago when Mossad agents broke into a Tehran warehouse and literally stole a thousand pounds worth of documents (paper and CD) from Iran's national nuclear archive. They succeeded in getting it out of the country, and the Israeli government subsequently shared and published the results. Google it. there are tons of articles about this in every reputable source. I tried including a link here, but my post got deleted. New York Times has a July 15, 2018 piece called: "How Israel, in Dark of Night, Torched Its Way to Iran’s Nuclear Secrets". At first, Iran's government tried to deny that there even was such an archive, and claimed that Mossad fabricated everything. But in 2021, as he was leaving office, Iran's president Rouhani admitted and confirmed that Israel did indeed steal secrets and documents from the archive. *** HOWEVER, regarding the Israeli series Tehran (now with Glenn Close in second season) - if you haven't already seen it, you might be considerably surprised by the tone and content. Despite the fact that it's about an Israeli mission to destroy Iranian nuclear facilities, it's not at all like typical American good guys vs bad guys movies and shows. The story, and all the characters, are very well-developed, not one-dimensional stereotypes. It's a fantastic show, and it also won the 2021 International Emmy for Best Drama.
Israel and iran used to be great friends, as you may know. until the Iranian revolution brought the new regime in in 1979. there is no reason why the two nations/peoples cannot be friends again in the future. we should all hope for that.
@freeforest great! they can start by stop killing children in palestine and stop speaking about our territorial integrity. That is corrrect that Israeli people bought lands from palestinian farmers. But that doesn't give them right to do such things
@@mahdigholamirad2067 you wanna compare the number of kids killed by Israel vs iran? around 700,000 people have been killed just in syria in the last 10 years. that number includes lots of kids and their mothers. plus many millions of refugees have been created. and iran is partly responsible for that, together with the Syrian regime and later also Russia and Turkey. how many kids' deaths is iran responsible for by arming rebels in Yemen?? and let's not forget - Iran's rulers sent tens of thousands of their own children to die by clearing Iraqi minefields with their bodies during that war. Israel does kill kids sometimes - but not by design. it is well-documented, despite propaganda to the contrary, that Israel makes the most strenuous efforts to avoid killing innocent people, which of course includes children. for example, in the last gaza war, there are many videos online where you can see and hear the Israeli military calling a building in gaza which has been targeted for destruction. you can see and hear the Super of the building talking to the army. in one video I saw, made either by a journalist or another Palestinian, the Super is out on the street, talking to the army by phone. you can hear the army telling the super to get everyone out of the building. what's sort of shocking is that despite the extreme nature of such a conversation, it is being conducted very calmly by both sides. the soldier on the phone asks the Super, so how long do you need to get everyone out? is 2 or 3 hours enough? and the conversation goes on. you should try to find some examples. it's pretty amazing actually. obviously it's still traumatic for the people in those buildings! but the point is, hamas uses their own innocent people as human shields. Israel did not target buildings randomly (unlike what Russia is doing in Ukraine). if they destroyed a building, it's because hamas was using it for weapons despite regular people living there. another video is from the cockpit of an Israeli plane on a bombing mission in gaza. you can see video of the ground, and something moving like a child being detected in the vicinity of the target. you can hear the pilot notify mission control, you can hear their conversation, and you can hear them cancel the mission because of the kid. it doesn't help Israel to kill people unnecessarily, just the opposite! it just creates more hate (which would be justified). but hamas brings busloads of people to picnic near the fence on the gaza border, so there are violent demonstrations together with kids and cotton candy sellers. for hamas, it's great whenever kids get killed because it makes the world hate Israel, so they put them in harm's way on purpose. and if you want to talk about territorial integrity - between Israel and iran, only one talks about wiping the other off the face of the earth. (hint: it's not Israel)
I love Glenn Close and know her name would attract people to the show, but a white American playing a Persian is, not problematic (I hate that word and the usual representation criticism), but new and interesting. I think Hollywood needs more Iranian big-name actors. This being an Israeli show, over there too, and I hope given the relation of the two countries, that Iran and its people aren't demonized (criticism of the theocratic govt of course is necessary). An American example related to broad-brush depictions of the Mideast would be 24.
Ms Close reminds me of one of my favorite West Wing episodes, The Supremes. The president is trying to fill a SCOTUS seat with yet another moderate, which his "nemesis" derides him for. Ms. Close plays a radical liberal justice who is brought into the White House "for show" and she knows it. Then Josh and Toby are completely taken by a conservative judge they interview. And Josh gets an idea from a black/white cookie - what if they could get both the liberal and the conservative on the court. It's a great show and she was perfect!
Her nominee for Chief Justice in The West Wing TV series - ********SPOILER******* Well let us just say - it is very relevant for today's leaked Draft. Now fetch fictional Judge Evelyn Baker Lang a glass of water whilst I re-group. Josh Lyman loved her shoes.
She speaks beautiful Persian, but it must be said that American actors are the majority of the government That is, Hollywood and the US government are both one
As an Iranian who lives in Tehran I say her accent isn’t good 🙂 But i appreciate the effort They could use real Musad agents in this series They are good actors and fluent in Persian 🤷🏻♂️😂😂
This show features many iranian actors who fled the country after the revolution or who were able to immigrate, like the younger actors . Shaun Toub, a Jewish iranian is a good example and he now is American. I wonder how the fascist government of Iran views these actors? Have they canceled their citizenship? Is this show censored in Iran? I know Shoreh Ashgo, who played UN chief Avasalara in the expanse is another such actress as well who fled in the 70s. Sadly we tend to associate people with their governments (anti American sentiment in Mexico was sadly strong when trump was president for example, now it's much improved.)
Iran has a thousand things more beautiful than the atomic bomb History of Iran Persepolis Iranian scholar Abu Ali Sina was someone who discovered alcohol Iran is a country of writers and slogans I hope the US government says these things😊❤❤
that is very true, what you say. unfortunately the current regime is fixated on two things that that cannot be allowed to happen: they want nuclear weapons, and they want to eliminate the nation of Israel. Israel and iran used to be great friends, as you may know. until the Iranian revolution brought the new regime in in 1979. there is no reason why the two peoples cannot be friends again in the future.
As an Iranian, I am very sad. That someone learns our language to act in a film that is against Iranians and the Iranian nation. Unfortunately, they make a lot of misleading films about Iran, such as 300.
You should watch the show. Tehran is nothing like 300. 300 portrayed Iranians as a bunch of evil savages. Tehran humanizes everyone. While the Israeli agents are the protagonists, the Iranian agents are shown to be incredibly rich and complex characters. If anything, the show is against the Iranian government, but it does also show the Mossad doing bad things too. No show is perfect, but Tehran is incredibly humanizing towards all people.

@@FreeArtsakh2024 well, that's not exactly true, is it? LOTS of Israel haters are trying to stir up concern about Israel's nukes. But the same cannot be said for Iran! Countries all over the Middle East, and all over the world are worried about iran getting the bomb. Look at it this way: several middle eastern countries have indicated that if Iran gets the bomb, they will also be forced to develop their own. On the other hand, those same countries have known about israel's nuclear weapons for decades, and notably did NOT feel it necessary to respond in kind. says a lot about who can be trusted, huh?

HOWEVER, regarding the Israeli series Tehran (now with Glenn Close in second season) - if you haven't already seen it, you might be considerably surprised by the tone and content.
I think her character is supposed to be British though.
@@susangrahamflute3414 Oh, then never mind. Thanks. I'll check out the show.
The character is an Iranian citizen by marriage.
@@jiminhart Thanks. She said she played an Iranian without mentioning by marriage so I thought she was a native.

Beautiful woman😍😍😍
she is beautiful and amazing
I can't believe she made a movie against iran!
national treasure
No thought here.
Her nominee for Chief Justice in The West Wing TV series - ********SPOILER*******
Well let us just say - it is very relevant for today's leaked Draft. Now fetch fictional Judge Evelyn Baker Lang a glass of water whilst I re-group. Josh Lyman loved her shoes.
She speaks beautiful Persian, but it must be said that American actors are the majority of the government
That is, Hollywood and the US government are both one
you sound like a real genius.
👍
Its a shame she had to resort to doing israeli hasbara for money
As an Iranian who lives in Tehran
I say her accent isn’t good 🙂
But i appreciate the effort
They could use real Musad agents in this series
They are good actors and fluent in Persian 🤷🏻♂️😂😂
Glen Close is a master of language and accents as in Sophie's Coice.
Do you mean Merle Streep? She played the lead in Sophie’s Choice.
Being wanted and she is a spy how the hell she walking around with her face open like im here come get me 😂
SHE SHOULD HAVE HER OWN SHOW OF ESPIONAGE LIKE 24.. THEY SHOULD HAVE RECRUIT HER FOR 24 AND TRANSITION TO THE MAIN LEAD AFTER BAUER LEFT
Iran has a thousand things more beautiful than the atomic bomb
History of Iran Persepolis
Iranian scholar Abu Ali Sina was someone who discovered alcohol
Iran is a country of writers and slogans
I hope the US government says these things😊❤❤
that is very true, what you say. unfortunately the current regime is fixated on two things that that cannot be allowed to happen: they want nuclear weapons, and they want to eliminate the nation of Israel.
Israel and iran used to be great friends, as you may know. until the Iranian revolution brought the new regime in in 1979. there is no reason why the two peoples cannot be friends again in the future.
@@freeforest yes we Iranians will have great relations with Israel again once we get rid of this regime occupying our country.
Why would such a talented actress appear with such a low class host.
She looks scary in tehran that i thought she would be a good actor in horror movies
This movie is against the regime not the people... Don't give the people false information...koskesh basiji

You say "farsi" instead of "Persian"? Dont know the difference between international and local name?
Do you call Egypt "Al_mesr"?
A series that did not tarnish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in And do not reveal the main essence of this terrorist group to everyone this will not have much value for us Iranians.
What do you mean? I think the series does a good job portraying the very complex reality of a very brutal regime that at the end of the day is made up by regular people that just want to live their lives, like the Iranian people.
would you please stop these types of misleading orientations about other countries in the media?
Hi the language is called Persian, not Farsi.
Exactly. It’s funny when they use the word “Farsi” when speaking English. It’s like saying “Español” instead of Spanish lol
No It's farsi but originally it's parsi that p was changed to f .
We are persian who speak parsi
For English speakers, the language is indeed called “Persian.” If speaking in native Persian, yes, you would pronounce it “Farsi.”
This series is kinda dumb propagandaish but I didn't expect anymore

Not gonna lie, that was hot af hearing her speak another language.
Maybe the first and only lady on a talk show that didn't play with her hair--not even once.
Many viewers in Palestine, one wonders?
Right?
No one asks if israel got nuclear - weapons
When you are surrounded on all sides by people who want to kill you, it’s a given.
There are many Arab viewers, in fact. Also, many Palestinians and Arabs watch the Israeli hit show "Fauda" ("Chaos" in Arabic) on Netflix.
"Euphoria" and "In treatment" are based on Israeli TV shows also.
@@FreeArtsakh2024 well, that's not exactly true, is it? LOTS of Israel haters are trying to stir up concern about Israel's nukes.
The problem for those haters is that no one is actually up at night worried that Israel is going to attack them with nuclear weapons. That is a worry that no one has.

Listen, the time has come. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news.Mark 1:15 Please think about it. Believe in God's son Jesus today, repent of your sin, heaven is perfect dont be left behind. Love Y'all
No idea why she’s in this show, she’s a great actor, but was way out of place in this.
That’s not true. Her character is a British spy that married to an Iranian man. Great character
@@extrapolate it’s Glenn Close…..you just keep thinking it’s Glenn Close. In a show with all unrecognizable actors, they just threw her in. I just would have cast an older English actress. That’s just throwing unnecessary money at the above the line. They didn’t need her to pop this show and it was an odd piece of casting considering the rest of the cast. Just one person’s opinion.
