As someone who started building their first pc and started a figure collection, all within the last 3 months, my wallet is suffering from whiplash without even knowing its been decapitated.
Similar story with me. Built a pc and new desk setup last fall + scale figure collecting early last year, alongside my already long-running GUNPLA hobby. My wallet is in shambles.
Game studios and publishers know this, which is why they add bonuses to pre orders to intice people, with pre order tiers like a collector’s edition, one with a manual and a map sometimes (despite games used to having maps in base price before). And my least favorite, three days early access, and closed betas
I couldn't have picked a better time to slow down my figure collecting. I have only 9 preorders from January to September and unless something truly outstanding comes up, I don't plan on adding more to that. I've also decided to clear out at least a third of the figures I already own, all of which are unopened and in their original packaging. I still very much enjoy my figure collection, but I feel fortunate that my taste has become more defined. It's easier to resist figures that I really like, and think are beautiful, but that don't fit what I really want to collect.
Completely agree. I am much more choosy now when ordering figures. At first it was about if I liked the character and the figure pose, now I really consider if it fits my collection and how I would display it... and if I have space for it. Haha.
SO...i started out, like most people, with an IKEA Billy Bookcase for my figure and comic/manga collection. Its great for starters! And you can customize the height with each shelf too. I later than upgraded to a Boltless Rack. The kind you'd find in a bomb shelter or a commercial kitchen. What I did for dustproofing in both cases were to get Custom Acrylic Sheets....nothing fancy. Just 2mm thickness is all you need. At the top of each acrylic sheet, i used Acrylic Glue to fix on a small 2x4inch acrylic piece to make a hook from it so the larger sheet just hangs from the top. For the sides and back, i secure everything in with vinyl/electrical tape....because it has a matte finish to it haha. For the front, I used Museum Gel Glue Dots to secure it in place. If you had up the cost of everything, its below $300-$350. Even if you added in lights too. Its a good DIY project tbh. And also, ALWAYS ADD A COUPLE OF BAGS OF SILICA GEL IN YOUR DISPLAY SHELVES ❤
Totally agree, bookshelves are great to start with for displaying figures. I have been looking into doing more custom displays recently as well, since that way I can build them the way I want to. The Silica Gel bags are such a great suggestion, I never thought of it; but I plan on doing that now.
Nice video battletide! There seems to be figures either get fully preordered really quick or there's loads of stock in the aftermarket but nothing in between! I still have some preorders this year for this reason but agree its definitely time to cut back and hunt the aftermarket
Gaah that Gojo figure made my heart skip a beat. I preordered him late, so fortunate to find an open slot locally. He's TOO EXPENSIVE, jeebus, but when I saw him in your video.. yeah. He's worth it. Hopefully these preorders turn out as beautiful as their promotional photos!
Yeah, I was surprised with the price as well. I feel like most of the price comes from the elaborate base, and I'm big on figures that have amazing bases. It's looks like it will be an amazing figure. ☺
Happy New Year @Battletide! I'm so looking forward to the figures you'll show us this year. I didn't got any news that they'll release a new figure of Reika from Gantz. God, I need her T.T
Nice practical advice! Going to be rough times for collectors. Cut down on preorders and see if you really want it after release. Most of the time you'll get another chance. I don't live near an Ikea and it used to bother me I could not find detolfs. What I have instead is Six old record player cabinets with glass doors. About three shelves of figures each, and then the top is usable as a table. I think its Thrifty.
Pretty grim. I am very picky and have tight IP based wishlist so I kinda have to pre-order in most cases heck getting perfect blue pop up parade resale because I missed it was 150% of the OG price. Luckily I have a pretty good local seller who adds the shipping to the new cost but overall it is usually cheaper than buying anywhere else without any of the import hassle. Also let's go we are getting first Violet Evergarden fig. "Say what Kyotoani greenlit a figure no way"
I’m just grateful and blessed to collect Japanese anime figures most of them are loose and preowned and some are brand new and still inside their boxes. I hunted them online and some on physical japan surplus shops, seeing them on my home office makes me energize. Good content by the way!
I started in June 2023 thanks to you ! but in the last four months of 2024 quickly got bored of all the preorders. Found resins to be much more exciting but I'm also picky because I don't like complexity in design and some of the expensive resins look too complicated, too much going on and my eyes can't tell what's happening lol
I agree, resins can definitely be more exciting. Most of the time, I feel PVC figures play it safe and don't really go that wild. Though sometimes resins can be too wild, like you were saying. I'm glad there are a lot of options, because I do like having a mix of both, all depending on the display space I have available.
@ yes yes you’re correct. The PVC figure companies are playing it too safe, and therefore the figures look boring to me. I just received notification that my Raiden Shogun resin is shipping, not only do i love the figure design i also love her base, have you see the photos for Raiden Shogun - Genshin Impact Statue - ABsinthe Studios
For me, I haven't been buying a lot of new figures due to lack of space, and because there aren't a lot of new figures of my favorite characters. The only figures I've seen that interest me(as of this comment) are Ainz Nendoroid, Lacus Clyne Racing, Grimmjow Vibration Stars, Pialdramon Figure Rise Standard, and Super Sonico Summer Memories. I'm still trying to find a good figure of characters such as: the other Vocaloids aside from Miku, Ulquiorra from Bleach, Mina Ashido from MHA, Nelliel from Bleach, and maybe a Dark Magician Girl figure?
Yeah, cases are getting expensive... although I'm running out of space for cases so the impact is... uncertain. I've sea mailed dozens of figures and none had an issue. Although I have to say most of them are via the free shipping of TOM and they get their own containers for that. But even outside of that I have about at least a dozen shipped sea mail at at least so... can't be that bad. I currently have 8 figures pre-ordered(and 3 on a boat somewhere), including the scarlet. I'm sure it will increase as the year goes on, but it's probably going to be not many.
Happy New Year! Your videos are always a joy to see! I am a Canadian, so I am with you on many opinions. I have been blessed with more figures I'm interested in POing more recently but it has been a pretty slow collecting journey for me overall, which is a fine pace and no burden. I do wish for more male characters and shoujo/slice of life series. I am happy to have ordered the Sugar Apple Fairy Tale Challe & Anne, Hobby Max Dazai Osamu Deluxe ver., DMM Factory Erza Scarlett, Orca Toys Juvia Lockser Blue bikini, Kotobuikya Hoshina Soushirou with bonus, Prime 1 Studio Vanitas, Apex Alice in wonderland, Prime 1 Studio Owen, Good Smile Company Frieren and MaoMao, & several more. I just can't stop myself from pre-ordering when I know I want it in my collection and don't want to take my chances in after market.
Wow! You have a stellar taste in figures! Those are really amazing pre-orders. And I can understand the pre-order bug, I've worked very hard to try to sit on my hands to prevent myself from clicking that pre-order button; but sometimes it is hard with such great figures coming out. ☺
@Battletide. Thank you! Yeah, it's just what I'm comfortable doing. I'm sure where we are in our collecting will play a role, along with how accessible typically figures are that we collect and if it bothers one to have figures bin. It can be a gamble and between what you can live without or must haves. Plenty to consider for each person. Lots of amazing figures around!
My first case ended up being a detolf dupe from Amazon.. $120 and it’s non-adjustable. Beats going all in $300+ on semi well-made cases. Would be hilarious to see a politician show off an anime figure let alone a collection.
I bought my last figure in 2022 and got it in early 2023. Haven’t bought another since. Im happy with what I have and have a few awesome pieces (a big Arknights Skyfire and rereleases of the Pokémon May and Rosa figures that were about $250-300 before the rerelease). It’s just really expensive now and I don’t have the money to justify buying anymore over other things.
One of the other big issues of the year, at least that I've been experiencing more this last year than any other, has been scalping. I've known this for a long time as a Transformers collector, but it’s gotten really bad since getting into collecting Sonic figures, of all things. I figure that retails for $10 should not be sold for $95, but when you can't find them in stores anymore because one guy bought every copy on the rack/asked for every copy in the back, what are you gonna do? Also, regarding secondhand anime figures, i swear by Mandarake; they're based on the physical locations in Japan, so their can be a bit of a waiting game depending on what you want, but their prices are second to none, even for newer releases.
Pretty interesting video! I'm mostly a 1/6 scale action figure collector like hot toys/inart but i'm going to be 'retiring' because of the reasons you have been worried about. That and i'm out of space, i reached a point where the figures i have in my collection I don't even sort of want to part with. So after a few pre orders that are yet to be released i am finished, but i am curious to see what the future holds. thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I think every collector gets to that point eventually. We all eventually run out of space, and at some point your collection is full of figures you don't want to part with. I guess that is a good problem to have. ☺
I regret not ordering the first Owari figure, since I feel like she's gonna get a high aftermarket price if they don't make a lot of her. Excited for the Reading Steiner Makise rerelease, Shorekeeper, and Idia from twisted wonderland though.
The biggest challenge for me with collecting is my countries 25% customs tax that’s slapped onto everything, including the shipping price. The customs that I’m going to have to pay next week on my Prime1Studios statue adds up to multiple PVC figures I could have bought. This is just robbery, and there’s nothing I can do about it, I just have to pay my robber every single month.
I absolutely agree with u for the figure announcement as they very leaning towards gacha games rather than animes or clothed c. It’s quite sad cause whenever I look at Wonderfest it’ll will be filled with them so I just look forward to updates for my list from whoever comes. I feel china figure market has single handely saved it for me cause last year apex really was a huge back bone for making unique figures for me and yogisya is my top figure of the year. The only ones we can really depend on are really goodsmile if u want range of figures. So far the only figures I have preordered: Alice apex, vanitas,2b max factory, Chobit , 2 lycoris recoil wedding, Oberon my most anticipated and marin and marine . Other than that I’m waiting for updates. Yeah it really sucks for those who aren’t into gacha. But im quite glad reverse one of my niche gacha games are getting Ton of figures I’m looking forward to and some other stuff. Sorrry for the long paragraph. But you’re not alone for events I keep my expectations low rather than high. But in away im glad I’m not too tempted each week as I’m keeping to my list and few may catch my eye
I’m not sure if you’re into fantastical figures but I recommend looking out for Oberon, Alice yogisya magiart, vanitas their quite lovely sculpts. Although vanitas is in the expense side I’m planning to save my amiami points. As jun m work are my faves of all time. So I recommend if u like bishounen fantasy stories.
Then in terms of that male u showed with his chest out that’s just muramusa final special move in fgo. Which I’m glad they did as it’s not static unlike most male figures. Since he’s dealing with a lot of heat wise when it’s sword craftsmanship
You have some great looking pre-orders coming your way. I am impressed with Oberon's base, as well as the coloring of the figure. And thanks for the suggestions, I love hearing them. And I do love that Muramusa figure from what I've seen of it, I hopefully will picking it up since it is one of the best male figures coming out in the future.
Just bought my first statue, amazing 1/6 Scale Maki Zenin from KARASU Studio, and damn she looks good. Just hope the shipping quote isn't more than the statue itself pray for me 😭🙏
What I never understood about display cases was, why would you not either get shelves to hang on a wall, or a bookshelf??? I collect, but just pose around my room and for photography. Edit: I collect action figures/model kits, not statues.
My collection of figurines (not anime/manga) are in their boxes on the attic for way too long. No fun having them there. 😢 Not the great time for collectors wanting to display their collection in a beautiful way. Great video ❤👍
I don’t have many scale figures, but since I’m going to Japan this November I’m gonna be on a HUGE shopping spree for figures and other stuff (mainly figures though). I have like the simple ones that come with a black cylinder or square base. I want to start collecting somewhat bigger and cooler designed figures. I’ve been dying to get the Goji vs Toji by Niren Studios (I think that’s the studio) and the Yoruichi one by Blood Night Studios. Also big resin figures I want a few of those too! Btw the mini dioramas you’ve made for your figures are amazing and I might do the same in the future with my figures. I mean 18+ figures are unique in their own right, but I don’t plan on buying one any time soon. Maybe till i have my own place I’ll buy some, but for now my parents (mainly my mother) doesn’t accept that kind of stuff, even though it’s pretty much fan service taken up a notch. I’m 27 and shouldn’t have to hide things like that from my parents, it’s not their money. It’s mine, lol.
i don’t collect any figures but as someone who wants to build a collection of 1/48 fighter jets i am absolutely cooked on trying to display them, theres a big lack of displays that look good and aren’t priced more that what my planes are
I strongly recommend against preordering. Almost all figures I preordered dipped in price shortly after release. I preordered Freeing Holo, the price dropped immediately after release. I also preordered Binding Bastet, yeah, the prices dropped too. During the pandemic, I noticed prices going up crazy. Post pandemic, that's a different story. Binding figures used to wipe out your savings. Now, well they are still pricy, but at least you won't be taking out a mortgage.
I don't know I feel like Binding and Freeing figures usually dip in price after release, for some reason. They've always been a bit too expensive for what they are ("premium" lines) i guess people already realized they aren't exactly sorth the orice tag. I don't mean it like their figures are ugly or anything, but that's just something I've seen. So many of their figures go on sale shortly after release, that means they got too many left because people didn't pre-order them that much and they have leftover stock they need to clear
Transformers collector but preorders also have an issue in that market as well. I dont ever preorder but ive seen other people who preorder and have tons of issues with cancellations or delays to the point the figure is available in stores before they get it
Congratulations, now you understand a little of what brazilians have been going through for decades. The minimum wage here is currently R$1518 (US$248) and was updated this year, in 2022 it was R$1212 (US$198). All Brazilians are required to pay a tax of 60% of the value of the product exceeding US$50. If you buy an action figure for US$300, you have to pay + 60% to receive it, that is, US$300 + US$180 = US$480 + the shipping cost. If you do not pay the 60% tax, you will lose the money you spent and your product will be auctioned off at the Federal Revenue Service.
Wow! That is horrible. Thanks for sharing this, because I haven't heard of how high the import taxes are in Brazil, so it's great to hear how things are in different parts of the world just so I'm better informed. Are there ways around the tax or to reduce the it?
I got 5 of those new Ikea cases & I don’t like them at all, the main reason I’m buying a case is so I don’t have to dust them. But these cases are pointless when it comes to that, they have a 1/2 inch gap running all around the door, it’s not flush to the case, so I put black masking tape all around to seal it. But that didn’t even keep it totally sealed, as I think dust is getting in all around where the glass meets the frame. So I’m going to get Moducases, I think they’re better sealed, but they’re much deeper & don’t suit my setup as well. There’s just not great options with cases, you’d think one of the figure companies would start to produce a good case for PVC figures.
Completely with you, I'm surprised we haven't got a lot of great cases given the fact how large the collecting community is. Also agree on the IKEA cases having gaps, where dust still finds a way, even if you try to dust proof it.
Has it only been in 2025? I thought figure collecting has been sucking before the pandemic hit. 8 years ago, I could complete an entire figma line in a span of less than a year coupled with a few 1/7, and 1/6 figures from other lines and franchises, and that's while I'm still building my new PC sometime in 2018. Nowadays, I hardly get to 10 pre orders a year and my budget has been ballooning to roughly 2100$ minus shipping expenses. I hardly ever pre order anything new these days beside the random unlicensed chinese third party 1/6 figures. I may be nearing the days when I will quit this hobby entirely because my paycheck couldn't keep up with the speeding inflation. It's crazy.
I'm so glad I'm limited to action figures (S.H. Figuarts, Figma, Revoltech) cuz characters I like barely get anything and since they're small shipping isn't nearly as much 🙏
As much as I loved Y'tubers spreading out awareness like this. This is also the main reason why everything goes up, especially the used market. How many of those re-seller will be watching this, start scalping and re- selling their 2nd hand shit for x3 the price🤷♂️ I knew this was coming soon. I just got back from my japan trip and brought back a heck amount of figures and gunplas that I'll be fine until my next japan trip. Problem right now is where to buy a display case😢
I have 2 of the Amazon display cases (5 tier, double door) and I have a self imposed rotation clause. If I buy a figure, I sell one. To me that keeps my display fresh and helps collecting fatigue.
I like the idea of rotating your collection. I've done this so far without selling figures, but I definitely need to get over the hurtle of letting some of my figures go, or else I'll have a hidden collection of figures in boxes.
@ what I started doing was the “out of sight” test. Box up and put away your figure for a month or so and see if you miss it. If you do put it back on display if you don’t let it go.
Personally, while it's not a "display case", I just bought two shelves with glass doors. They're not lit up or anything, but the light in my room is situated in a way that it does light up the models.
I agree in terms of announcements. I can see why there's a hard focus on gacha waifus. They always print money. But the lack of male figures compared to that leaves something to be desired. I also can't get behind the amount of lewd original characters. I have one of those in my collection but I doubt, that many people will start hoarding naked OC's now 🤔 I've actually never preordered figures bevore and now I did it thrice for 2025: - Tokisaki Kurumi Rasiel Version (even if she has like 100 figures, I can imagine that this design will sell out and I don't want to miss her) - Civilight Eterna (I'd like to have at least one Arknights figure, but all the characters, that I like are overpriced on the aftermarket. Not even the Japan trip in october could help with that.) - New moon Luna (this was a no-brainer for me. Finally an Epic Seven figure and then it's HER? Easily worth for me.)
With "Love and Deepspace" dominating the gacha market all of a sudden... maybe we'll see more male figures. Hahaha I love that Kurumi version, I think it's one of her best. As for the new Luna figure, I'm so glad they are finally releasing purchasable figures for Epic7, they should have done it years ago. But I'm not completely sold on this version of Luna. The pose is fantastic, I'm sure she will turn out amazing. Epic7 has so many great character designs, not sure who I would love to get first as a figure. It's unfortunate that they couldn't get an anime kickstarted either.
@@Battletide. Love and Deepspace is wild but just not the thing for me. I prefer stuff like Guts or Goblin Slayer 🙂 And yes, with the high anticipatoon for Luna, there could be hope for more Epic 7 stuff. We'll see...
6:49 It's sad that I know that that's an 1/7 scale figure of Asuna from SAO as Stacia & I kinda wanted it, but she's expensive. And speaking of Asuna from SAO, the only figure I pre-ordered for 2025 is the 1/7 Asuna wedding figure from Design Coco. It's coming in March/April & it's based off of a life size Asuna statue that Shibuya used 2 years ago to show off a real wedding dress. As far other figures, I've been thinking about getting an Ai Hoshino figure, a pixie Yui from SAO, but also a more recent original Miku.
Yeah, she's a pretty figure (the Stacia Asuna figure), and while there are minor issues with her paint trim, not every figure had these issues, and she still looks great regardless. The wedding Asuna is pretty, for some reason I've seen a lot of new Asuna figures come out recently or are coming out soon. Maybe it's my imagination, but I keep seeing her pop up. And I love Oshi no Ko, it seems to be getting a lot of figures recently as well.
@@Battletide. You're not imagining it. I saw a recent video last month about what's popular in the anime figure industry & the girl in the video showed a bar graph of the most popular characters who get figures from manufacturers during 2019-2023. Asuna's #3, Rem's #2 (not surprised lol) & Miku DECIMATED the industry. LOL However on MFC, Asuna's in the middle of the popularity chart. Despite me sorta being an Asuna figure collects, I'm still surprised she's still getting a decent amount of figures considering that the main anime's on hiatus & the brand fell pretty hard since 2021. I'm also considering in getting that new Asuna & Yuuki figure that's coming in May, but I think I'll wait till Christmas. Just bought two 1/8 scale figures last week (Idol Asuna & Deep Sea Girl Miku) & I'm thinking about taking a little break of figure spending. Ai Hoshino & Original Miku are still on my wishlist, but I'll be honest, OnK's ending made me even less interested in that series.
The only figures that I preodered are VENOM Last Dance figure from SH Figuarts Burning Godzilla SH Monsterarts 70th anniversary Deku SH Figuarts is one that I'm eyeing on
At this point I pick out Apex's figures specifically since they've pretty much made a display case for every scale figure they've made, and they're pretty cheap if you get them from a Chinese site. But yea, actual detolfs and ridiculous though luckily I doubt I'll ever want to get that many figures to necessitate it.
Hi, i am just starting to collect figure. I had bought some figure, would like to know more insight on display cabinet. Would like to know your thought on ikea display cabinet and Moduspace Mono. Since Malaysia dont have brothar cabinet that you showcase in your last video, so i would like to know your thought process. =>
I know I may bad mouth IKEA from time to time, but their cases and prices are pretty good. The Blaliden is a good case for small figures and new collectors. Midsize scale figures will struggle, and for hot toys, either they won't fit, or their head will be very close to the next shelf, which I don't like. I think the IKEA Milsbo would be a good case if the door frame didn't take up so much space in the center view. I may try to customize one to see if I can fix this later this year. If you aren't afraid of dusting from time to time, IKEA bookshelves work really well and are cheap. Also, good to start off with until you find a good display case you really like. I personally like the Mono. I think the LED setup is smart. I love the door design where it is hidden and magnetic. It has a similar size to the IKEA detolf. Single cell mirrors or diorama photos easily placed to the back wall. And it looks very clean. My only negative is the front frame beams which can obstruct view. But overall, a really good looking case for price. I would really like to pick one up to see it in person for myself, maybe later this year.
I have ikea detolfs as they are the most affordable however ive had my issues with them. I had the front door of mine randomly exploded on me a couple years ago causing a mess that was near impossible to clean up. The fact that ikea are only making their glass thinner and lest costly does not make me feel any safer buying their products lmao
I just recently experienced self-shattering glass on one of my display cases. It is not a fun experience. And I agree, with IKEA glass getting thinner, that it does make me worry. I'm more afraid of accidentally bumping it and shattering it than it self-shattering.
@@Battletide. Yeah its definitely not looking great…. Cleaning up glass for hours and the potential damage to figures just only makes it more not worth to buy
I barely buy any figure because of how they keep making the same things I'm not interested on (tbh i barely invest on media too) idk if this is good or bad for me
My main collection consists of Skytube figures (I'm cultured, sue me.). And let me tell you, they are a nightmare to maintain in the tropics. Mold and fungus love these figures for some reason, and I have had more than a few discolorations. And then there's the natural discoloration. Figures that I maintain well on display, tend to fade in color. I am starting to question my life choices....
Yeah, Skytube figures are amazing. And I can't imagine trying to take care of figures with a lot of humidity, it must take a lot of work to maintain them.
💯 % disagree on your point on preorder. This may work with pvc and nendo but for action figure was different story. I am huge collector of figma and anually go japan. I notice each year I went, figma getting less on store shelf. Back 3 yrs ago it was fill 3 full shelfs. Back 2 yrs ago it become 1 and half shelf . Last year it only cover 1 tier of 1 shelf. Don't get me on pricing. It spike nearly 30 to 40% of retail pricing in japan market. Even japanese second hand shop will to buy back at high price. So if you niche collector like me. Po it don't take your chances . As for displace glass. China is selling very cheap. I guess for western will be expensive due shipping. I do see alot alternative changing it to pixie glass to save more
Thanks for clarifying about figmas. I only have 2 figmas myself, so I don't have a lot of experience in this collecting area. What are your thoughts on the Megami Device market?; Are they considered a different category as figmas, because I do see a lot of those figures around in the aftermarket.
I picked the absolute worst time to get into figure collecting lol My only solace is most of the figures I want are just Hatsune Miku and the rest are for exorbitant prices in the aftermarket so basically unobtainable to me anyway
My preorders are rias nurse, belldandy and lucy nendoroid for January, in February a figure of Baiken and in March rias and akeno 15th anniversary and the other figure of Baiken, my wallet is bleeding but I want them 100%
Good tastes! And that Akeno figure... I was surprised to see it made by Kadokawa. I always thought they were a PG13 figure company. But then again, my video did say there are a lot of lewd figures coming out, maybe they are turning over a new leaf. 😄
@10:40 - So, do your comments from @10:26, that she's "the sexiest waifu coming out this year" and "the amount of fun I can have with her, well, you know how it is," apply here as well? (Same name at the bottom lol)
I don't collect anime figures, but I've adopted a personal policy. I'll only spend $25 max on any given item, unless there's a good reason to spend more (age, rarity, quality, size, etc.). I've also never preordered anything. It's not my problem if a company can't meet demand. This might sound extreme, but it's actually restored a lot of fun for me in this hobby. No more fomo. No more empty wallet. It just feels nice. I also find it fun to see what I can dig up while looking for the best deals. There were some very well-articulated mecha kits I found for less than $3.
Everything is going to be more expensive. Nothing is made in US - not the figures - even American companies like Hasbro or McFarlane and not display cases.
I never played GFL1, so I had to look up AK-15. But I'm pretty heavily invested in GFL2. She looks pretty cool, and would make a awesome figure. My only concern is if they will be prioritizing GFL2 characters for future figures.
Good guess, but nope. It's referring to a censorship scene of some controversial anime. Decided to use it since I wasn't about to show off someone's spicy collection.
i collect things like damntoys, hottoys and storm collectables mostly, but it seems whats popular in my circle are those snail shell figures and as you said the lude ones....i don't see the appeal personally. i go to my boys house and i see a line tiny figures of underage looking girl with humongous boobs, which is the most uncanny thing....dont get me wrong I love anime and boobs but come on man suppress it a little......btw I have a giant statue of Red Sonja its so hot.
Visa Japan wants to ban ordering anime merch from websites to increase the japanese population. They say that anime culture and waifuism is the cause of the population decline.
At least u have money for buy them 🤣I'd like to take an acton figure of rory mercury (the same that u have) and other action figures .........but some are too expansive you only find it over 200€ from abroad-........and i have to pay the customs .....i live in italy unfortunately
Yeah, the LA fires are scary. My collection currently is safe; but the recent fires have made me wonder 'what if'. And then I think if there is anything I can do better to protect them.... you just wait, a future video will be like "Check this out everyone, this display case has 15cm glass and can withstand temperatures up to 1500'C!". 😂
I collect Bandai metal builds, and it's pretty scary how much they shot up in price. For example? The GUNDAM METAL COMPOSITE FIX FIGURATION Wing zero custom snow white prelude. In 2019 it was "just" 200 usd. On the rerun 2024, it was 240 usd. And then the deathscythe hell/ rousette unit. Ds Hell, released 2023 was 250 usd. Rousette version which was on preorder last week was 280 The stark difference in price between deathscythe and the wing zeros are pretty scary because they have the same metal frame and a lot of the plastic molding is also the same 😢
I definitely agree there has been a rise in Lewd figures! My hot take! We need more lewd male figures that aren’t bishonens or twinks! Give me lewd male figures with facial hair and bulging muscles 😂
@@martyden9006 he pardoned over 8000 people including his family for over 11 years. Trump wasn’t even in office then. What is this decent guy covering up?
As someone who started building their first pc and started a figure collection, all within the last 3 months, my wallet is suffering from whiplash without even knowing its been decapitated.
This is pretty much me but with figma and Lego Minecraft. (A weird combination I'll admit)
Similar story with me. Built a pc and new desk setup last fall + scale figure collecting early last year, alongside my already long-running GUNPLA hobby. My wallet is in shambles.
Hahahaha ya I hear ya
Unless it gets discontinued, pre-ordering digital games doesn't make sense. They don't run out.
Game studios and publishers know this, which is why they add bonuses to pre orders to intice people, with pre order tiers like a collector’s edition, one with a manual and a map sometimes (despite games used to having maps in base price before).
And my least favorite, three days early access, and closed betas
for me the shipping cost is the most bothersome as a collector we are paying shipping cost at the same price of high-end figures
as a figure collector this video spoke facts my figure collection had slow down
I couldn't have picked a better time to slow down my figure collecting.
My backlog of unbuilt Bandai and Kotobukiya kits is just rising in value lol

Nice video battletide! There seems to be figures either get fully preordered really quick or there's loads of stock in the aftermarket but nothing in between! I still have some preorders this year for this reason but agree its definitely time to cut back and hunt the aftermarket
the trick is buying used from auctions and never preordering because the price of everything tanks hard, I learnt this the hard way 3 years ago.
depends on the figure
Gaah that Gojo figure made my heart skip a beat. I preordered him late, so fortunate to find an open slot locally. He's TOO EXPENSIVE, jeebus, but when I saw him in your video.. yeah. He's worth it. Hopefully these preorders turn out as beautiful as their promotional photos!
Yeah, I was surprised with the price as well. I feel like most of the price comes from the elaborate base, and I'm big on figures that have amazing bases. It's looks like it will be an amazing figure. ☺
@@Battletide. Fingers crossed! :)
A single Yuji figuart goes for 200$ or more.
Glad too see you made another video mate!
strange times ahead cost of things.. :(
Happy New Year @Battletide!
I'm more a phicen collector, but these figs you showed here are alsso minde blowing!!
i don’t collect any figures but as someone who wants to build a collection of 1/48 fighter jets i am absolutely cooked on trying to display them, theres a big lack of displays that look good and aren’t priced more that what my planes are
I strongly recommend against preordering.
@@mikael9850 Not all of Freeing dipped. For example, Albedo and Sophia Shirring increased in price.
What an absolute shithole holy lord
as a model kit collector , i am slowly keeping my sanity in check and not pre-order anything...yet 😭
Animals, which also includes small children, that got me there xD
I think im gonna keep an eye on the Radio Eva Ayanami for the December,
Canadian collectors. I do recommend panda hobby. Looks like locals are starting to get prices back in control
6:33 Akashic Record of Bastard Magic Instructor!! 🤩
I preordered a bunch of scale Umamusume figures. Costs a ton but it's always worth it for Umamusume.
I have one of those in my collection but I doubt, that many people will start hoarding naked OC's now 🤔
I've actually never preordered figures bevore and now I did it thrice for 2025:
- Tokisaki Kurumi Rasiel Version (even if she has like 100 figures, I can imagine that this design will sell out and I don't want to miss her)
- Civilight Eterna (I'd like to have at least one Arknights figure, but all the characters, that I like are overpriced on the aftermarket. Not even the Japan trip in october could help with that.)
- New moon Luna (this was a no-brainer for me. Finally an Epic Seven figure and then it's HER? Easily worth for me.)
With "Love and Deepspace" dominating the gacha market all of a sudden... maybe we'll see more male figures. Hahaha
I love that Kurumi version, I think it's one of her best.
I prefer stuff like Guts or Goblin Slayer 🙂
And yes, with the high anticipatoon for Luna, there could be hope for more Epic 7 stuff. We'll see...
I limit myself to 1 detolf display case for over 20 years. To limit how many figures I buy.
The only figures that I preodered are
VENOM Last Dance figure from SH Figuarts
Burning Godzilla SH Monsterarts 70th anniversary
Deku SH Figuarts is one that I'm eyeing on
I collect dragon ball figuarts, and the shipping is so ass, it’s so expensive, but the figures are worth it
All the good anime scale figures are releasing late this year and 2026 😭🙏
DHL shipping is definitely outrageous rn depending on the size of the figure that is. No more DHL for bunnies fasho lmao
DHL was my cheapest non-boat option (it helps living on the west coast). I am scared to see what my next figure will cost for shipping.
I was never into anime figures. All I care is the mech, transformers toy engineering.
What I have learned is 3D modeling in blender and print my own.
The fact that ikea are only making their glass thinner and lest costly does not make me feel any safer buying their products lmao
...exploded?
@Ergeniz i walked past it one day and it literally shattered on top of me lol
@wermworma That doesn't make any sense.
And I can't imagine trying to take care of figures with a lot of humidity, it must take a lot of work to maintain them.
the all glass Ikea Detolfs are no longer in the market on where im based , they replaced with an ugly border design detolf
Your preorders 🔥
Im surprised you didn't talk about scalpers
Because he is one of them
I picked the absolute worst time to get into figure collecting lol
My only solace is most of the figures I want are just Hatsune Miku and the rest are for exorbitant prices in the aftermarket so basically unobtainable to me anyway
thats why i only preorder on deposit, if the figure get delayed to hell, i would only be losing like 8 to 16 bucks
Scarlet looks fantastic I'm trying to collect all the figures from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE ❤
“Reimu it’s been two weeks”
I also noticed I have very few preorders for 2025... Hmm...
10:43 Did you mean to keep that figure name from the Cowboy Bebop ship on the sexy anime girl? :P
Lol, that is a copypasta typo. Oops!
Me who's only saving my single bookshelf for the eventual GFL AK-15 (give it 5 years at least):
I never played GFL1, so I had to look up AK-15. But I'm pretty heavily invested in GFL2. She looks pretty cool, and would make a awesome figure. My only concern is if they will be prioritizing GFL2 characters for future figures.
"Animals; which also includes small children"... 😂 Love it...
5:35 Yuru camp is probably not it, right?🤔 ⛺️🔥
Good guess, but nope. It's referring to a censorship scene of some controversial anime. Decided to use it since I wasn't about to show off someone's spicy collection.
Man I feel you on the Azur Lane figures. I don't play the game either but I want I want I WANT
i collect things like damntoys, hottoys and storm collectables mostly, but it seems whats popular in my circle are those snail shell figures and as you said the lude ones....i don't see the appeal personally. i go to my boys house and i see a line tiny figures of underage looking girl with humongous boobs, which is the most uncanny thing....dont get me wrong I love anime and boobs but come on man suppress it a little......btw I have a giant statue of Red Sonja its so hot.
I also pre ordered ronin falslander.
Visa Japan wants to ban ordering anime merch from websites to increase the japanese population. They say that anime culture and waifuism is the cause of the population decline.
What is the name of he first anime figure at @0:02 ?
Thank you! 🙂
Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact.
That is Mei Raiden - Herrscher of Thunder by Apex. myfigurecollection.net/item/1856373
@@Battletide. Thank you so much! 🙂
@@Red14998 Thank you ! 🙂
Just make your own display case with plywood 😊
You better collect joytoy warhammer figures 🗿
At least u have money for buy them 🤣I'd like to take an acton figure of rory mercury (the same that u have) and other action figures .........but some are too expansive you only find it over 200€ from abroad-........and i have to pay the customs .....i live in italy unfortunately
In 2025 .. i have a lot of empty anime figure boxes, that i am starting to throw away because I have no space for empty boxes 😂
Yeah, everyone is so concerned with space on shelves, we tend to forget how much more space the figure boxes take.
At $150+ for display cases, it is now worth it to build your own.
Oh burn, Cyberpunk 2077....
Thank god i build gunplas instead
wait second...
That's a whole lot of cheap genAI images for absolutely no reason.
With the title and thumbnail I thought this video was going to be about your collection burning in the LA fires 😭😭
Whats a hot take
A controversial opinion.
Rousette version which was on preorder last week was 280
The stark difference in price between deathscythe and the wing zeros are pretty scary because they have the same metal frame and a lot of the plastic molding is also the same 😢
Just dont buy every trash Figure from Shows you dont even watch
thats why you be like me and buy gunpla
I make my own display cases 😂
I definitely agree there has been a rise in Lewd figures! My hot take! We need more lewd male figures that aren’t bishonens or twinks! Give me lewd male figures with facial hair and bulging muscles 😂
Majority are off license and with how jp culture is with facial stuff I highly doubt . So I recommend keeping out for artists who are doing it
Buying plastic shit is shit.
Spoiler.
Please stop calling non posable statues figures
Thats what they are, figures
I don't find it controversial to say less lewd figures. They're gross, and frankly i know this is mean, you're gross if you buy them
This dude voted Biden
Biden was not a choice in the last election lmao I guess you voted for the higher prices on everything guy and haven't figured that part out yet?
So a decent guy then.
@@martyden9006how did you come to that conclusion?
What type of “decent guy” put a senior citizen in charge?
@@martyden9006 he pardoned over 8000 people including his family for over 11 years. Trump wasn’t even in office then. What is this decent guy covering up?
I don't know why he hates small tufted birds
