One of the things I love about this game is how the setting defies classification into any single genre. It's perfectly normal to have primitive tribes, medieval kingdoms, six-shooting cowboys, 21st century industrial societies and futuristic space empires all on the very same planet, possibly even within walking distance of each other, and you can pretty much play as any of those.
Absolutely underrated. Feels like Rimworld 100% And it makes me feel proud for gaming industry that such game's been created and still is being expanded.
Surprisingly for me, this is almost very accurate trailer and description for the game. Sadly no hordes of cats drinking your beer and puking everywhere
@@joehaisman Yeah exactly, it's Rimworld. The cats aren't gonna drink your beer, they're gonna come in a massive hoard and maul one of your colonists to death

This is an amazing cinematic mashup of what to expect your colonists to go through after a few hundred hours of game play (with some modding). Other than taking shelter in a downed passenger plane, I've seen every frame of this in game in my 4k+ hours. Well done!
Funny, there's a 1.0 version of that mod in- and having them other than those vanilla bugs are too hard to live by, You cannot even escape for the constant 'Manhunter' sign these bugs play when the event arrived. Never left the Rim in 6th of Decembary, 5509. All 21 colonists died from either infection or to the bugs. Guns do are OP, but bugs including Vanilla bugs are just too much and if you're 'oh so rich' in rimworld, they straight give you 200+ of them and it is so laggy and slow that i got 5 fps everytime i unpause it. Mod's good though, also you can survive the endgame if you had DOOM and praetor suit, killing bugs is just the same as killing demons after all.
@@molybdaen11 Man. No, i have enough raid reaching more than 500+ and no matter how OP i make my pawns they still either die, unless i put immortal perks and mods to them and god perks to kill off bugs.
omg seeing that I've just realized how great of a series Rimworld would make live action wise. You could have each season being a new drop of different people, and you never know what's going to happen to them. Will they find a survivor and save them, or capture an attacker? Will somebody die out of the blue, or go nuts and kill everyone cause they decided to eat outside with no table on their own accord when the base has a table inside? (I've had that) Will they go down a dark path of organ harvesting, or perhaps raid villages, or even give themselves bionic body parts? Maybe a Thrumbo waltzes in front of a hunter's gun and go a-wall on everyone? Or a circuit explodes and the place burns down. Maybe they get raided by pirates who heavily outmatch the poor guys who have a singular rifle and a pistol. Maybe someone lazes about doing nothing cause they are incapable of cleaning and hauling and pretty much everything under the sun, and yet complains that nobody works as hard as them. A person might even be a pyromaniac and there's hints with them setting bushes on fire outside at the end of an episode. In fact, some people may get married or devorce. Or they could find cryopods in their area and accidentally wake up the robots and everyone gets massacred. And best of all, they might run into some remnants of dead people, or bump into some new friends from previous seasons and continue on their story as the groups join forces, with the main group that we are following finally finding the secret rocket ship and escaping the planet (with a couple sacrificing themselves to defend it, series finale where a fan favourite couple is split as the guy protects his lover and the group as they blast off) Rimworld has so many options for a tv series drama and that's what would give it a spark, cause just like in the game you never know what will hit you and when, you cannot predict the future and if you have plans they can be delayed by like 10 solar flares in a row destroying your food cache over and over again so your person who does gardening and mining can't do the mining for ore. You really can't tell. Either way a live action tv series would be something I'd pay for to watch.
This is one of the only trailers that I like that use multiple films. Anything that tries to do the same thing under the guise of being a trailer for another film feels wrong. Gj
Holy shit it's literally a trailer of Rimworld the movie. I only wish each of the mini cuts of different stories would be expanded more, but I guess the source material doesn't allow for actually mimicking a real rimworld story.
My only criticism is that it needed some clips from Starship Troopers, and the Terminator series on top of what's there, because everything in the trailer has already happened in my game. Stuff from those two films would account for most of the other bits, too.
I can confirm that this is what it Rimworld feels like. A desperate bid for survival, that turns into a quiet, almost lonely day-to-day life with your fellow colonists. Relatively small but interesting events; a trade caravan here, a lost and injured survivor there. Eventually, sudden and unrepentant violence. You don’t know who’s going to live or die, just that you don’t want to be the one to die just yet. The knowledge that this very well may be where you die anyway - so you give it your all every single time, because you’ve got everything and nothing to lose, all at once.
Despite being a bunch of goofy pawns, this trailer makes you imagine your colonists/tribespeople as living human beings, with emotions and needs. Definitely a very well made trailer.
