      Well Well isn't that interesting. I suggested this very feature quite some time ago that the new gimmick would be a gamepad feature. Further suggesting the OG Switch would act as a gamepad or allow the purchase of a new dedicated gamepad. I also continued to double down the Switch 2 does not need a long reveal / release window or a heavy hitter at launch but instead would make most sense to launch with MP4. Not to boast I just find it funny how much I was criticized by so many and here we are talking about as speculation all over youtube.

      Apologies for blowing up your thread but now that I'm watching what if it's a " G " for Gamepad? Either way it makes too much sense. If it casts to the dock the dock must have more internal parts which cost money and of course latency. Again imagine the Switch Lite selling like crazy cuz backwards compatibility, a cheaper entry for kids, another piece of hardware sold but not necessary, and continues the sales momentum. Or just as well the Switch and Oled Switch. And of course most importantly more software sales and / or introduction to the online expansion. I love the idea and it makes too much sense for a " Gimmick " that is not needed but will in fact sell itself.

      Nothing might be leaked yet but that does not mean it can't be the case, what has been leaked is the dock being "bigger and possibly having a fan" from that alone it might contain some stuff inside to allow speculated casting

    You know what would be cool for a new DS - the second stylus touch screen is a perfect square and all sides match the height of the joy-con.
    Why do this? A square is a lot less wide than a rectangle making the second screen more comfortable to hold than the wii u pad which was one of the greatest flaws to the design. 3DS second screen is 4:3 which made the console less wide and more comfortable to hold, only the top screen was 16:9 aspect ratio (standard TV/Monitor aspect ratio these days).
    This would make sense for snap in "rails" design for all 4 sides of the second screen and have games that utilize wonky joy-con placements, then the main screen would have regular rails for the current joy-con to work with. Of course this means only new joy-cons can function and interact with the second screen.
    But imagine something like you need a key to open a door and instead of going into a menu / using a button to open the door, you slot in the correct joy-con in that slot to open the door and move on to the next room/area. This can be extended to fun little accessories to slot into the "rails" that studios can make, design their game around, and sell with the physical version of the game - making the console a lot more toy-like wonder.
    Or having unique screen orientations like playing in a diamond shape where the joy-con are slotted in slots by each other rather than directly across from each other. A lot of potential can be done here outside of the realms of only having a DS with joy-con included.

    I think whether or not this will be the case with the Switch 2, Nintendo is going to want to release a second screen add-on for one of their consoles eventually. They'll want to be able to rerelease DS, 3DS, and Wii U games at some point. That said, I don't think that's what this is. I think it's probably just for some new feature. In the Switch Online Playtest they did a while ago, it included something called "Connex Points", so it could be related to that. Maybe it's some sort of Miiverse 2.

    Nintendo would never make a console that requires a very specific type of TV to function, they will make work on any TV/Monitor with an HDMI since this is something everyone that would buy their console already has.
    Nintendo MIGHT make a hybrid, they could also very easily have a home console only device too. Handheld only is de-confirmed with the announcement of the next console playing Switch games.
    If they wanted next console games to be home console only, then the swap feature works. The problem is that people be mad to why they can only play Switch games in handheld mode and not next console games because you need that second screen for that. This means, that a DS-hybrid has to sell you 2 screens and one screen has the main parts to the console for docking to your TV and the other screen is the second-screen touch screen (that needs to be a stylus touch screen because that works way better for DS-style of games) where the joy-con can attach to (including sitting the second screen on your lap and playing free-hand joy-con which could have very cool gameplay design decisions with the ir motion camera detecting the second screen) which allows for some chill and fun ways to play DS-style games as.

    • @PolitiClank
      @PolitiClank 11 часов назад

      I think the most likely scenario for this is that Nintendo makes a second screen that mounts onto the top of the console as a peripheral, and for two screen gameplay in handheld you can cast to an app on your phone if you don't want to buy the peripheral. To add value, the peripheral screen could have 3D back in; a cursory investigation into touch screen LCDs indicated that releasing it at a price below 50 dollars is completely feasible, and they could release it in a bundle with any of the titles that need the 3D and/or the stylus based touch specifically.

  • @itsBATION
    @itsBATION День назад +1

    Im on the side that it's a social feature because the switch and thus nintnedo has gone a whole generation without any feature that connects players even though the switch is a portable device and like the 3ds Nintendo wanted to encourage you to take it on the go and the wii u also had many connection features. The c button if real should be a connect button in the most versatile way we have ever seen before but also bring back street pass along with an ambitious "download play" where you can share small portions of a game you own to someone else and play together, connect multiple controllers seamlessly, accessories, VR headset, connect to dock, and perhaps the home button will bring back the wii u led home button so if you get a game invite the c button will easily connect you. No more going to profile- settings- app switching - Bluetooth- or anything. If it's just a cast button it really didn't need to be a button, instead a game that supports dual screen gaming would just have a toggle in the UI since most games will never introduce a dual screen gimmick

    Nice to hear someone defending the Wii U, it's a fantastic console, and I'll die on that hill. And now, with a thriving homebrew community, its better than ever.
    It plays ALL Nintendo consoles except 3DS and Switch over HDMI, including native Gamecube and Wii.
    Im not holding my breath either, but I would be STOKED. I think many people right it off because the Wii U failed, but it only failed because of confusing marketing and a system that was overall pretty clunky.
    But if they were to do it with the Switch 2, all the problems or inconveniences are solved. Simply using the console as the gamepad instead of the console being stuck on a shelf and the gamepad being chained to it make it completely viable. A few bucks for an adhoc wifi system, thats all it would take. The Wii U's focus on dualscreen gaming ended up dictating the entire design and functionality of the console. Now, we could get the same idea but presented in a way that is completely invisible and out of the way unless you or a developer choose to implement it.
    And there was a staggering amount of missed potential with the Wii U. The next switch is guaranteed to be a hit, so 3rd parties would be far more likely to experiment with the platform. Heck, even Nintendo would be. They sort of shifted focus to the 3DS for software when it became clear the Wii U wasnt going to do well. And even the console's games put less and less emphasis on the feature (I have a theory that MOST of the console's biggest titles were designed knowing they'd get ported to their next console) as time went on. Heck, BOTW was apparently stripped of a ton of gamepad functionality for the sake of the Switch. It's a bummer knowing we got a stripped down version, honestly.
    All I want from the Switch 2 is the return of asymmetrical Dualscreen gaming and some sort of streetpass-like functionality.
    The fact that the Switch had no form of streetpass is honestly insane. Everyone loved streetpass, why on earth would they strip it out?

    If the C button is some sort of “cast” feature, it won’t mean dual screen gaming is the main gimmick imho.
    The main issue being battery life and performance.
    The reason the switch would have a cast feature is to allow it to play ports of DS 3DS and Wii U games and maybe be an option to small third parties studios who don’t need the SW2’s full power draw.

    • @supdan
      @supdan День назад

      Regarding performance, you have to keep in mind that streaming 2 separate video sources with 0 input lag was possible in 2012 on a console that is less powerful than a dated phone. Battery life would not be that much of a problem in my opinion.

    Man I’ve been saying this from the start: none of these guesses make sense (capture/camera/chat/call/cast).
    Could you even imagine that any of those guesses is right and “C” is the best design Nintendo could come up with for the button? 😂
    Yeah, the initial of an English word, instead of the widely recognisable icons that already exist for all of those guesses (capture ⏺️, camera 📷, chat 💬, call 📞, cast - screen with signal wave at the bottom corner).
    All of Nintendo’s system buttons use symbols/icons, why would make cast button “C”? Heck even “cast” on software buttons your phones always use an icon, not “C”. Makes much less sense on a hardware button that’s not easily localisable.
    Stop thinking literal English words. If Nintendo puts C on a button, it has to be much more significant than the initial of an English word. It could be a trademark like “Club Nintendo” or something along that line.
    Unless this C is a placeholder label for the 3d mockup until they swap it with the correct icon. But that means anyone who’s had their hands on the production unit would already know (and leak) that it’s not a C.

  • @captainthunderbolt7541
    @captainthunderbolt7541 18 часов назад

    When I see 'C', I just think about the N64's C buttons and GameCube's C stick - so I suspect that the C button may change the behaviour of the camera stick.
    tbh, if anything, I would expect DS and 3DS support to come through the new top USB-C input. I could easily imagine a small clip-on top screen.

    Nintendo's only recent patent for a new console is a dual-screen console.
    Two different outcomes I would want for Nintendo's next console:
    1: Something entirely new that we never seen before.
    OR
    2: DS Hybrid with the new joy-con having circle pads instead of sticks, still has the same 4 button d-pad design that the current joy-con have; with a 3DS cartridge slot included and this thing can play DS, 3DS, Switch, and Next Console games!

    I already told you on twitter but i'll say it again here. Nintendo could implement dual screen easily with only an app via bluetooth or wifi to your phone, it would only need a plastic attachement to the console placing the phone below as second touch screen and boalah!! two screens for cheap!
    Using wisely a phone could have a lot of potencial!

    I believe they wouldn't force this feature on developers. That would be so stupid and the Wii U all over again. If this is real, then the vast majority of games will be playable like on the current Switch: TV mode or portable mode. You have to keep in mind that this feature would need to be adapted for portable gaming. How would they do that? You'd need to program so many useless things into games, it would be so time-consuming to implement. Neat idea (I love the Wii U too), but it would drive away developers in droves if it's mandatory.
    Also sidenote: the Switch 2 would be playable in portable mode, tabletop mode, TV mode and... let's call it hybrid mode. That's 4 modes!!

  • @brycemartin1267
    @brycemartin1267 21 час назад

    Loved the video! I truly hope, but don't expect it to happen. To entertain the prospect a bit, Nintendo does seem to like retrying ideas when it makes sense, or when the technology is capable of it. The example that comes to mind is Tears of the Kingdom. Aonuma said in an interview that the sky in Tears is what he had originally envisioned for Skyward Sword, but the technology of the Wii sadly didn't allow for seamless ground to sky traversal. Following the huge success of BotW, retrying the sky idea once more made sense and was technologicaly possible.
    I recognize this is a software example and not a hardware one, but even the Switch itself is basically a culmination of all Nintendo's prior console innovations, minus those of their 8th generation (3D and dual screen). In the same way that the switch maintained the motion controls pioneered by the Wii but didn't make it a central gimmick, Switch 2 could reintroduce dual screen gaming but not make it the cornerstone of the console. That was one of the primary issues with the Wii U is that hardly any games at the beginning really knew how to take advantage of the 2nd screen, yet it was always shoehorned in. Even the console UI and menu navigation being reliant on the gamepad made it feel like you're always tied down. If they could implement a 2nd screen as an option it would make so many games so much better.
    Being able to play Nintendo land again with friends on a console as snappy as the Switch would be a dream. Playing Xenoblade X DE with the 2nd screen map to manage frontier nav would be incredible. Here's to hoping!

    Yeah, nobody knows if it is the final form of the C button or it is just a place holder. I don't know if I want to see a compressed handheld image cast to the TV with lower GPU and CPU clock speeds than it being in fully powered mode via the dock. It might be good as an option however because I can't see Nintendo requiring Switch 2 games to be played via casting to a TV.

  • @MasterStacona

    All of the leaks and rumours are 100% fake.
    Nintendo: Announces that the next console can play Switch games. This means, uses a cartridge slot AND the current joy-con. So the next console needs to support the current joy-con, which includes a rail system that the current joy-con can connect to, so anything that does support this is immediately fake. The other quantity is the fact that these leaks DO NOT have an ir motion camera so it cannot play Switch games when Nintendo already said the next console can play Switch games.
    The rumours are fake and feeding off each other, making basically unintentional and intentional lies, and growing bigger and bigger - we learned this from Veggie Tales and the Rumour Weed, where the rumour (weed) grows bigger and bigger and everyone believes the rumours to be real, which feeds the weed and make it grow bigger.
    The base of the rumour is made up and fake, but probably was created from a best-guess scenario knowing how Nintendo usually does their prototype dev kits. They take the previous/current console and heavily modify it, but it still looks basically the same as the current thing and the extra button would be there to bring up a dev console menu easily - whether this feature is actually real or not, that is why the fake leak would have the button there.

    I'm going to press X to doubt. I think there were plans in 2020 to make a pro model of the Switch that was backwards compatible with 3DS and DS games but because of the pandemic it was scrapped. Now the 3DS and DS are so far back in the rear view that there would be no purpose to bring it back. A dual screen gaming being announced as a definite feature would likely indicate to me that they are planning Switch 2 games to be dual screen and less likely to indicate backwards compatibility. But I also would think that the technology would be present in much the same way that the technology to play GameCube games was present in the Wii U and it only accessible through hard/soft modding.

    No. Absolutely not. It’s a played out gimmick. Much like the Wii, the DS initially took true advantage with unique titles with the dual screen functionality. By the time Wii U and 3DS came around, waggle controls were all but dead, and the second screen was only used for informational hud elements, that could just be on a solo screen. It’s played out and it’s time to accept that.

  • @billyb1996

    that just makes it another wii u and defeats the entire purpose of the switch. theyd have to design games around that feature and that means you wont be able to use this feature portable away from home. im sure they dont want to make the wii u mistake again.
    this feature is entirely useless portable, and thats exactly what nintendo would NOT do with a switch.
    it probably means chat since nintendo has always focused on multiplayer, and switch one has almost NO chat.
