You’re crazy fun and it shows in your work! Your work is so expressive. I love your balance between abstraction and parts that are representational. You combine them so creatively!!💕
Congratulations on one thousand! I look forward to sitting down with a glass of wine each Thursday evening and watching your newest video. You are inspiring!
Yes! Knowing when to stop is absolutely the question with abstract art. Sometimes less is more and sometimes it's not enough. I usually want to leave a little negative space, but it feels uncomfortable once in a while.
The balance between work and play. A long running discussion hence the old saying, "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Congratulation on 1000, though you deserve more!
I just found your channel this week and I’ve been painting for 47 years mostly abstracts. You are just delightful to watch and so inspiring and so creative. I have been in a low and getting back in the swing of things. Getting inspired watching your videos. Thank you.❤
"Two legs is enough for anyone"... "Resisting putting in a leg" 🤣🤣🤣 Love you and your videos so so so much. OBSESSED with the new leg. Thank you for inspiring us all, to give ourselves permission to have fun and be silly 💜💜💜
I remind myself that every step I take outside of my comfort zone, the closer I’ll get to discovering who I am as an artist. At least that is my hope. My inspiring quote for this year is a Tanzanian proverb: “Little by little, a little becomes a lot.” Watching this video today, reminded me about taking risks to see where it leads.
Gaynor, you're such an inspiration! I've painted realistic watercolour botanicals for years. I am now going big and bold with abstract acrylic botanicals and feel a great sense of freedom! I just love your art, enthusiasm, honesty and zest for life. Congratulations on your 1000 subscribers 👏
Hello Jennifer, I love hearing what subscribers are up to. I have huge respect for artists who have great skill in one area and let themselves break out - just wonderful 🤩
Hi Gaynor I have been watching you videos for a few weeks now and yesterday I decided to subscribe so I don’t miss anything. Congratulations on achieving your 1000 subscribers. I absolutely love everything you do, you are so inspiring, creative, innovative and stylish. You speak from the heart and with such enthusiasm and encouragement. I look forward to Thursdays now to see what exciting things you have been up to.
I just found your channel and your positive energy just brought a big happy smile on my face. Just what I needed today! Thank you🙏🏼😃 ♥️ And you are SO right… its so important to find balance between the serious things in our lifes and the fun stuff! I’m inspired by you and your beautiful art…. and laughing with you at your leg in the painting which - by the way - looks great! 🤩😍 you are awesome♥️🤗
Hello and Welcome Susanne, So lovely to hear from new viewers 😊 So pleased you enjoyed the video, so good to find like minds. Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a wonderful comment, you've made my day 🥰
Honestly, it gives me goosebumps the similarities I see between you and me every time I watch a video! I just looked up the word "abstruse" a week or two ago - you talk about looking it up in your beloved dictionary in this video. Is that bizarre, or what? (It has an "s" in the beginning, like abstract - yours was missing the first "s".) There are so many coincidences in each video that by the time I get to the end I've forgotten most of them, but just feel the connection. You talked about "play" in this video, and the need for it in our serious lives, and I couldn't agree more! If experiencing joy isn't the purpose of life, what is? You mentioned Marie Kondo in another video, and her concept of "sparking joy." Yahoo. Let's go for it! I love your joyful willingness to just go with the flow even when your collage is peeling off. What a process of discovering, that you would never have experienced if you got mad at it and tossed it aside or tossed it out! Happy painting, Gaynor. Have a lovely week. I hope it's a beautiful spring in England. We're about to enter a 3-day heatwave with temperatures in the high 30s. Good time to stay indoors and just paint!
Gaynor you are a ray of sunshine, so full of ideas and creativity, can you tell us why you think the collage came unstuck what do you usually use to stick it down? I really like your stencils they are very effective and of course the advantage of them is they are very resiliant to cleaning and reusing. I may venture out to my studio today but I will need snow goggles and full winter clothing!! We are very close to being snowed in but it looks amazing. Have a lovely creative week xx
Hi Anita, I sometimes use a gel medium to hold the collage in place and sometimes it is sandwiched in wet paint. But as I have never had a 'lift' before I am sure it is because greaseproof is a not suitable for collage. I must have been working on the kitchen table and thought I'd give it a go - it reacted when a level of paint was reached...I'm guessing. Now I have visions of you in full snow gear tracking out in the snow !!! Stay warm and cosy 🥰
It's Thursday so that means its' Gaynor day :). I love your channel and look forward to your videos and seeing your progress. No surprise your channel has reached 1000+. Congratulations, so well deserved. That revealed leg is hilarious and too fantastic. I'm so glad you ran with it. The trio of paintings is wonderful.
Awesome video as usual ❤ I thought your snow drops painting was ‘absolutely beautiful’ and perfect with the green inks as it was. Cannot believe you put the black ink on 😳 I was shouting Noooo! It was stunningly beautiful before you put the black ink on it, I was blown away by it. Plus the other abstract with the green pot, I thought you were right to get rid of the green pot but the Beautiful abstract work above the green pot was Amazing and the colours….looks like you painted over that 😱 Can I just say, I think your natural style is so ‘Amazing’ and ‘Unique’ please don’t lose it trying to go in the direction of what others have done. You are naturally gifted with such a unique style. It is good to play and experiment but I don’t think you realise how lovely and awesome your natural style and paintings are. I think the legs are good for a laugh but don’t go with the painting. That’s a totally different direction. Keep on experimenting that’s important and fun but please please keep an eye out and don’t damage your AMAZING paintings. I hope I’m not speaking out of turn, I just don’t think you realise how special your work is. ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Teresa, I really appreciate everything you say here, thank you 🥰 I spent many years trying to 'fit in' with my art but am pleased to say that I just follow my instinct now. I want to embrace something of everything, if it feels right at the time. I often realise only too late that I've taken something too far, but that's ok because I can go again ! Your comment is very constructive and not out of turn at all. 😊
Love what you did with the snowdrop gel prints... it's amazing to watch you work thru paintings to correct what you dont think is working. Congrats on your 1,000👍🥰
I just adore the "leg paintings"!🤩 Thank you, Gaynor, for another inspirational video. Thought the lamination stencils on the gel plate looked fantastic. I particularly loved the ghost print version. The slightly damp stencil also created beautiful effects. Just love chance effects and surprises in art. It just propels the creative juices further!😍 Have a creative filled week!!
Hello Beverley, so good to know I am not alone with the 'legs'....can't help thinking they were meant to be 😂You are right...art just keeps giving. Have a lovely week yourself 🥰
I love your collage that revealed itself as a leg kicking through the paint! 😂 Isn't it strange how a spark of discovery was a catalyst for your other paintings? Congratulations on reaching over 1K subscribers, you are well ahead of me with just 58! Your channel is a joy to watch; visually pleasing with humour and generosity of spirit. Have a lovely week ahead Gaynor. x
Thank you so much, Gaynor and congratulations on 1000 subscribers 🎉 It doesn’t surprise me to see the support for your delightful, original channel growing 😊 I have learnt so much here and value your creative spirit and curiosity 😊 Best wishes from snowy County Durham.
The electric will be better than a gas bottle heater (if that is what you had before). The gas heater produces a lot of water vapour and then condensation.
I asked this on another of your videos but I will post it here again since here I see that your doing collage on paintings which makes my question very relevant: When you do collage as part of your painting process, do you worry about the effect on archival quality of your finished work? Magazine paper (probably not acid free), glue (also probably not archival), and other materials that may impact the longevity of your work... I am not so worried about sketch books but I try to get into a habit of using archival materials and processes so I am practicing what I can then use in my paintings without worrying.
Hi, Apologies if I missed a previous comment, I try to answer everyone. I very rarely put collage into paintings. Every now and then collage appears on an experimental board or canvas. This is a great point to make and like you I don't worry with sketchbook collage.
Thanks Margaret, really good to know. I usually use a gel medium or paint to hold things in place. I am sure it was the greaseproof type paper - I've never had a problem with collage lifting before.🥰
Thank you Gaynor for another brilliant video. As an early subscriber I feel quite proud that you have reached over 1,000 subscribers already. It’s like watching your infant when then do something that you feel quite proud of😂😂, you are actually really proud on their behalf. So well done 💐here’s to the next milestone. Love it all as usual. Thank you for all you share.
You’re crazy fun and it shows in your work! Your work is so expressive. I love your balance between abstraction and parts that are representational. You combine them so creatively!!💕

Watching your videos is like reading a great book you can’t put down!

Yes! Knowing when to stop is absolutely the question with abstract art. Sometimes less is more and sometimes it's not enough. I usually want to leave a little negative space, but it feels uncomfortable once in a while.
I find abstract 'slippery', just when you think you've got it....no....it's gone !!!! Have a fab week X
Gaynor your beautiful videos are literally making me glow inside outside I just love your videos art and vibe thanks for sharing 😊

😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️
For Christmas my son gave me a small painting with the writing on it that says “it’s a good day to be silly”. I’ve hung it over my art table
I LOVE that 😍
@@gaynorpattleI was just about to write that!
I love your legs!! : ) So enjoy your readings, philosophy, energy, all of it! Thank you!!

I've seen several videos where artists use deli paper for collage and also use acrylic medium (as you do) to 'stick' ot down
