- Art Process this week with painting demos in acrylic and watercolour. It is more important to enjoy the process than to over think the end result ! #artprocess #acrylicpainting #artwork
Love the yellow instead of purple😍😍😍
💛💛💛
You are adorable. So much life and energy for creating! Love it!
So So kind, thank you XX
Good morning Gaynor. I am newly subscribed and enjoying your talks and art so much. They are so similar to my own thoughts and practices. I'm a textile artist, collager of paper and fabric, screen printer, dyer and geli plater. I lived in UK for 39 yrs and in TW for a lot of that time so the places you mention are also familiar to me. I love sketch books and journals and also decorate the covers. I am now deconstucting some of my old ones and making new art with them. A way to downsize in my space I think, turning two books into one and having fun with it. Must stop wittering. Can't wait to be inspired by your next video . Have a great day. Sharon
Hello Sharon and welcome ! So fantastic to read your comment, amazing to hear from someone who lived in T W !! Are you still in the UK ? Your practice sounds exciting. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a great message - I really appreciate it ! 🥰
I went to see my kids in Melbourne. At the beach in Lorne are THEEEE most amazing little pools….I call them art pools!! I took loads of photos but never did anything with them. Your process….your chat about rock pools…and my photos are about to produce something…..hahaha I don’t know quite what yet!!!! You know that feeling? Thankyou for the inspiration xx
Love watching your videos but I’ve been shaking my head at your brown and chalky violet colour palette since you started it 😂 I keep shouting at the video - Use a dark aubergine colour ! Anyway, pleased it’s hidden for now, albeit under light yellow. Happy painting and thanks for sharing your process - 😊 love it! Aubergine ! aubergine ! Jill R
Hello Jill, Let me know your reaction to this week's changes in the painting ! It is so good to have feedback, thank you 🥰
Did a Google search on porridge... wow, who knew each part of the world has various ways to create this amazing dish and call it porridge. Bon Appétit
Thank you, I love your freedom that you paint with, willing to switch, to change, thank you for your guidance.
Hi Sharon, so pleased that you liked it - have a lovely week 🥰
Love the flopsy shirt….. and the painting process along with your thoughts, so fun!
I’m like this, I change my mind so many times while I’m painting but once I get into a flow I seem to know what I’m doing and the next day when I look at it again it’s like I never painted it, it’s amazing….. Then a new idea comes along and a new flow starts and the painting process takes over again it’s never the same flow stream the next time….. And like you said it’s all about enjoying the process and discovering unexpected things as you do….. The painting tells me when it’s done so I don’t have to worry…. I think your fantastic by the way love your energy……
Alicecile, I love your words " like I never painted it" - so glad you share a similar process - heartfelt thanks for taking time to comment. Have a lovely painty week 🥰
Lovely video Gaynor and I love your dog too 😃🤩
So inspiring your videos 👍
Thank you Rebecca and I will let Rocket know 🥰
@@gaynorpattle 😊
P.s. gorgeous dog!!
Your pure energy and enthusiasm never fails to make me smile Gaynor. You certainly do change direction, you remind me of someone on spaghetti junction who is lost😂😂😂 Thank you again for sharing your journey. Can’t wait to see the outcome of the rock pool inspiration on the large canvas. 💐
Hi Fiona, I don't want to jinx it but Rock Pool is off to a flying start ! The half long canvas is having a well deserved rest 😂Have a lovely week 🥰
Love watching you work! Having an abstract painting RUclips channel myself, I know the work behind painting and sharing your work!! I absolutely love your cabins!!! Your smile and and sharing how a true artist works makes me want to keep returning to see “what’s Gaynor up too”
SO kind Cheryl....I still cannot believe I have cabins and feel very lucky everyday 🥰
@@gaynorpattle I hear you. I have a large studio in my home. I used to have one pre covid about 30 mins away, but working near is incredible!!! I feel fortunate each day also.... Keep inspiring !!!
"Change is a good teacher." You're not afraid to change things and so you keep learning! It's just fantastic to watch! Thoroughly enjoying your videos, Gaynor.
Thank you so much 🥰
Gaynor you're such a tonic you should be on prescription😀 I am thrilled to have inspired your rock pool canvas and look forward to its development (but I know it might morph into something else) have a lovely week xx
Hi Anita, glad you didn't mind me sharing - I am having the best time with that painting 🥰Thank you
I love your art, your process, your layers, shirts and paintings, and have a thought on the “squabble” you seemed to be having with the lavender in that painting. I’m just wondering if maybe adding its complement, yellow. Or maybe a cool color to it. Maybe it was just too much purple, and it was lonely and needed a playmate color. Just a thought. Do continue to share, I look forward to seeing you play every week.
Hello Diane, I think you have hit it on the head ! The other thing that occurred to me was using it 'neat', generally I like to mix a little something in and I forgot - too much getting 'carried away' 😂Thank you for lovely kind words 🥰
Thank you for sharing the canvas stretching process. I had never seen it done before and it seems so intimidating! I am enjoying seeing the evolution of this big, long canvas. I would love to work large but I find it intimidating, and expensive. You are inspiring.
Hi Michele, thank you for a lovely comment. How about growing your work just a little at a time - try working on paper that is just a bit larger than usual before committing to a canvas ? Have a great week 🥰
beautiful work! maybe your Swiss cheese plant will inspire a series like the snake plant did. new shirt is lovely on you. 😊❤
Hello Judith, I think you are right about Swiss Cheese - a series ! THANK YOU
Change is where we all grow.
Going down a path offers sites unseen before that moment, change happens, and our direction may take off in viewing from different levels, exploring out of curiosity.
The bright colors for spring
Summer ...
Then, have a darker shade for fall
Winter.
Had oatmeal this morning with blueberries and cashew milk.
What do U call porridge? Like UR food breaks ... more on that subject would B be interesting to C what's cookin' in ur neck of the woods.
This made me smile - no clue why we call oatmeal 'porridge' in the UK - all I know is that I love it 🥰
Thankyou Gaynor - always a pleasurable way to kick star my Thursday morning - inspires me to crack on with painting 🙂
That's what I love to hear 🥰Happy Painting
I so enjoy your Videos. I understand more and more with you that improving my art is first about feeling, experimenting, taking more time to look for what could be the answer to my questions. Change and try otherwise, other palett or composition…. Great Thank you for sharing all that , this video and all the others. Nothing to change and please keep on that way !
AHH SO KIND - THANK YOU 😍
Always delightful seeing you create, and coming along with you during the process. Loved the bit with you holding Rocket when you both looked directly into the camera (there's a painting!) The rock pools on the lovely long canvas is so exciting, even at the early stage you showed, I found very reflective, what a joy! I've been gel printing daffodils making prints and note cards, such fun, they are almost done blooming (oh no!!) Thanks for the enjoyable time!
Hello Kathy, when I see the words Gel Print, I want to get the roller out ! Thank you for a lovely comment and have a lovely week 🥰
I love your RUclipss. I watch them over and over. I really love your work. You are an inspiration. Thanks
Hello Brenda....such a lovely, kind comment, sending you heartfelt thanks 🥰
I get so excited when I see another video from you. Keep them coming!!
So happy to have found you! You are a joy to watch and I love your new shirt and the way you dress. And your home and your doggie, etc. thank you for sharing so much beauty.:)
Hello Denise, such kindness, thank you for a lovely comment. Have a great weekend.🥰
You're definitely a 'yellow' girl😊
Hello Jane, I LOVE yellow 💛💛💛
I feel silly for saying this but I never realised that a canvas painting was literally canvas stretched over a frame! Thank you for unveiling this mystery for me! I love the lemon yellow you have used instead of the violet. I think it is more vibrant and alive - like you Gaynor! I'm struggling with my art this week and sometimes feel like giving up but just watching you here has made me think of changing direction instead. Thank you and have a lovely week. x
Never feel silly ! And don't give up ! 🥰
Better late than never... such a joyous lovely feast for my eyes 😍😍😍 You get inspo from the comments, and we get TONNES of inspo from you. This week's fave wisdom i'll take into my work is "don't be afraid to change direction!!!"
Hello Lauren, ALWAYS lovely to see you here, anytime ! I think Julia says ' let the flow go where IT wants, not where you will it ! ❤❤❤❤❤
love where its going !!
Thank you Andrea 🥰
Hi Gaynor loved this weeks varied video. So much to take in watching your painting change and evolve into a completely different colours and design. Really looking forward to seeing the rock pool emerge. I used to wear one of my late fathers shirts when painting, somehow it made me feel close to him. I have now painted my sketchbook cover in an abstract design using my favourite colours. Very pleased with the result so may now do same with my concertina sketchbooks. Keep up encouraging us all with your enthusiasm, energy and cheerful personality. Thursdays don’t come round quick enough.
Deborah, wearing your late fathers shirt, what a lovely thing to do 🥰So happy that you are enjoying painting sketchbook covers - I keep looking at the Buddy sketchbook cover - thank you for the thought 😊🙏
Doing ink botanicals,sketchbook,watercolor florals….
Fantastic 🌻Have a lovely creative week 😊
Very nice work. A friend just mentioned your channel to me today. I thought I might pop in and mention that in Italian the "g" is not pronounced in "Modigliani", and the "a" is a long "a" - so Moh-dih-LYAH-nih. I love your angel!
Hello and Welcome Janina, I love hearing from new viewers 🥰 Thank you for the correct pronunciation - much nicer and Italian is so romantic ! Have a lovely week X
@gaynorpattle Always lovely to find a new artist to be inspired by! I totally agree - is there any language more romantic than Italian? The Italian pronunciation is so beautiful compared to our anglo way, so since learning it I've been passing it on. Have an artful, playful week!
What is that yellow ink(?) pen you use. Also saw it on your last post on your trip to Spain. Thanks. Love your creative spirit!
Hello Sherrie, thank you for watching and my pen is a Lamy ink pen X
Love love your free happy way of painting. What kind and size of paper do you work on before doing it on canvas. I live in Canada. Thanks for the motivation .
Hello Janet in Canada 😊 Thank you for watching and leaving a lovely comment. I work up from my sketchbooks, A4 and A5 and love A1 300gsm mixed media paper 🥰
Oh yes, I like the yellow better than the violet too. I just finished a 16x20 canvas of 5 horse heads with much color (transparent mostly) layers and splatters of white in between the layers...it also has crackle paste and light molding paste (Golden) with an underpainting of acrylic ink drips. Its called "The PROMISE" 🖌️🎨
Oh wow! Your painting sounds fantastic - love the sound of your layers XX
@@gaynorpattle😊I layer with transparent and splat white...then after it's dry I do more layers of the same...it brings depth because every layer makes the previous splats look further away! You would LOVE Golden's crackle paste since you like acrylic inks! After the paste is dry and the small and large cracks appear, I stand there and drip the inks into the crevices and watch it flow through the cracks. It's better than watching paint dry ...lol! The inks mix in places and make beautiful colors. Afterwards I cover the paste with acrylic and it shows the cracks and inks underneath. It's so amazing!
@@yeshuaiscomingbackrepent2357 Golden Crackle paste on my list !!! TY XXX
@@gaynorpattleYou are very welcome!! 🖌️🎨
I call my the spritzer, my fine mister ,I put a pic of my husband on it so it is truly a fine mister❤️
This makes me smile !! X
Very good video! May i ask what size was the new canvas you stretched?
Thank you Michael, the size is 63 cm x 40 cm 😊
It made me laugh that you were worried you might have wet paint on your hands when handling your new 'paint' shirt!
